This took me over a week to finish! I can read a book like this in a day. But honestly I just wasn’t invested in these characters. I kept putting this down not really caring to pick it back up.

Alright let’s get into it. As far as plot.. this is your basic wanna be cheesy Halmark movie. But without the charm of the quirky side characters and zany yet endearing town. Were there side characters and a town? Yes but they were neither charming, quirky, zany or endearing. They lacked depth and basically just existed without adding anything to the story.

Noah: ugh this man gave me the ick sometimes. They way he continues to call Shay “wife” annoyed me to no end. I pretty sure he says it over a 100 times. Also the whole “im going to be bossy, controlling and exert dominance in bed but not actually man up and tell you how I feel because I’m too scared.” Nope. Red Flag, straight to jail.

Shay: 🙄 God she was awful. She knew she had major abandonment issues yet she doesn’t get help working through them. If a six year old has to work through her problems then surely a 30 something can do the same!!!

Gennie was the only charter I liked and she was a child!

This book was just not my cup of tea

Very Spicy, but I found myself constantly frustrated with the FMC. Why is everyone else in therapy but her? She needed it badly. She is a teacher advocating for resources for her kids but yet she tells herself to just talk herself out of her issues? Um no. Loved the MMC Noah, he does everything in his power to show his love and support and it was super irritating it wasn't clicking for Shay. I liked the ending but after spending the entire book frustrated with her I didn't really buy it when it finally clicked for her.
The niece may have been my favorite character her cursing cracked me up.

It's a great book. Spicy for you spicy readers LOL. A bit long. I loved the characters story but it a little slow towards the end. Lots of self doubt for the female protagonist. I just felt she was a little too clueless at times. I almost didn't finish the book but am glad I did. The drama kept me until the end haha

I love small town romances but this book just didn't do it for me. I finally finished it after 5 days and that is a telling sign of how much I didn't enjoy it cause I don't stall on books I normally finish them in 1 to 2 days Max.
I didn't like the heroine I found her to be somewhat annoying with all her woe is me emotions
Maybe I wasn't in the mood for this type of book at the time or it's just that I just couldn't get into this story . I really thought that the characters personalities and actions just didn't match

FMC was a doormat, not a doormat to the MMC but to her ex. After what he did she goes crawling after the first text he sends her not even waiting 1 minute to respond, then she still gives the ring back after he insults her and everything else he tells her at the reunion. He went on a honeymoon you paid with another women, might as well keep the ring and sell it for the money lost, if not that then just to spite him for being such a dbag. I cant!
The MMC also calls her wife as a pet name which i think its meant to sound sexy but its just weird. You like that, wife. Don’t test me wife. Come here wife… does not sound cute

I enjoyed it but Shay got on my nerves. She started off being a really great character I enjoyed but then she got annoying. All the self doubt and her ridiculous thought process. Noah had a little bit of that too. I also hate miscommunication that could be easily resolved if they grew up and acted like the 30 something adults they’re meant to be.

This was recommended to me by someone I know and respect online, so I picked it up. But the language of a twenty-something was too much. Don't get me wrong, I've read Emily Henry and other younger authors and loved them. But this I found just a little over the top. Probably great if you're 28 or 29, but as a *slightly* older reader, I found it off-putting.

I had forgotten how this author’s books are so full of feels. Hearty and emotional.
Shay is a grown up mess. And who can blame her? She was never loved; always so easy to leave behind.
Noah, awkward, no longer an ugly duckling, saves everybody, Noah. He’s loved Shay from the minute he met her.
The story is overly long. That lost it part of a star for me. It’s cute though. And there are laugh out loud passages.
Gennie is one of the most memorable characters I’ve read in a long time. She was a hoot.
