3,0 sur 5 étoiles I guess…

This one was just like the main series, but I suppose it had to be to keep the bs consistent. Knowing now that Lance had Gabriel telling him to look to the light and follow the light repeatedly after he kept saying to himself that Darcy was like sunlight to him and that Darcy’s magic signature was light and warm (sun) and Tory’s felt like dark and cool (moon), it’s ridiculous to me how stupid he was about the premonitions given to him. Also, now knowing that Gabe was involved in seeing Lance’s future with Darcy, why doesn’t he know who he is to them? If he can see Lance’s future, then surely he sees him with them as well.

Caleb still remains the only mature level headed heir of them all. His thoughts and actions are more mature that the others hands down. He can be silly, but not when it counts.

I never understood why Darius and Lance didn’t just find somewhere to hide Xavier from Lionel. Clearly Gabe has been hidden for years and no one was the wiser. Gabe may have even been able to help with that. I know it would still leave Catalina at his mercy, but that would be another bridge to cross if it came to it.

Max’s motivation to hurt the twins is still lacking. He has no real purpose except to help Darius not suffer the consequences of the fear he feels towards his father. With that said and him being empathetic, I would have reasoned that he would have suggested something less deadly to do. He said that he wouldn’t let her die, yet she was unconscious and still being tossed around in torrential water underneath the ice while sinking to the bottom of the pool when Lance dove in! Like, seriously? How much longer where they going to keep her there? She was practically dead!

I feel like Max deserves the worst fate for his actions for his part in it. None of them, aside for Caleb but just just, deserve to be leader of Solaria. They teamed up on an untrained fae, combining their power to subdue her under the water when she proved stronger than Max alone. That was very unfae, the very principle they are supposed to be unholding and proving that the twins are not fae.

These boys need a moment of self, and group, reflection that I have yet to see and have read book 7. Not once in all those books had they really realized what they did wrong or how their actions make them not fit to rule. They only talk about it in a narcissistic way by saying it’s the girls fault as they wouldn’t be good leaders because they know nothing about Solaria or fae and how they are more educated than them so it was justified. Or if they hadn’t have come back, they wouldn’t have had to do this to them. Always blaming the twins for their actions, or if not them, their parents. They act like the twins asked to come there, especially Lance, which is absurd.

Even in book 7 despite them working together, they still fail to acknowledge that the council was designed to work for Vega royalty and in doing so it would be setting things back to rights, from their birthright being stolen from them at the hands of at least one of the councilors! They still deny the girls their rightful place and refuse to acknowledge that they are ACTUALLY royalty and they they themselves are basically usurpers of their throne. But it will probably be book 15 before that happens. They story is so drawn out with unnecessary commentary and inner monologues that are repeated every POV chapter with very little new information taking place for pages on in. I can say that this one had less of that, only a few from Lance and Darius.

I was hoping this would shed some light on some things from the main story as the reviews stated, but I have come to realize those reviews are padded as their was very little revealed here of significance despite their exaltations from the heavens about how good it was. Most of it you could deduce from context clues in the main story but was spelled out here for confirmation. No real insight from their POVs that wasn’t already known from the main, like we knew how Lance felt attracted to Darcy and Darius’ attraction to Tory. It was cute to see the initial rivalry between Darius and Caleb though.

In conclusion, this was really a waste of time even if it was a lot shorter than the main books. It took me a lot longer to read though because it was so boring and wasn’t giving any real new information. But to each his own. Happy Reading. 3,0 sur 5 étoiles Retellings can be a tricky thing…
Commenté aux États-Unis 🇺🇸 le 1 septembre 2021
Achat vérifié
If you’re like me, reading a retelling can be tricky. I usually avoid reading one so close to the first book (it’s been a little over 6 months for me), but I simply couldn’t resist when the sister authors announced The Awakening as Told by the Boys because. MORE.ORION.CONTENT.

I think it’s important to say that if you’re only stanning one character or let’s say one couple (as it is in my case), the book might be incredibly boring to you. It took me pretty long to get through the other chapters, and even though I found the additional content nice, the scenes weren't particularly interesting to me.

One more thing: Even though the book can be read after The Awakening, I’d actually recommend reading it after you're done with #6. The reading experience will be soo much better that way, especially because of all the little easter eggs in there.

Also, considering that all romantic relationships in this series are slow-burn, it wouldn’t be the same if you knew how much the boys were already obsessed with the girls from the start (even Max’s love interest is hinted at and because we get Seth’s POV you’ll already see how much he likes THAT PERSON too). I for one probably wouldn't have enjoyed the relationships as much as I did if I knew about their desires so early on, so if you’re not a fan of insta-anything I’d say stay away from this book until you’re caught up to #6, or if you don’t want to wait that long, fellow readers recommended waiting until at least #4.

About the ending: Besides Orion’s POV, I think I was the most interested in Darius’s POV when it came to the ending scene. ATBTB helped me understand him (and the other heirs) a bit more, especially all the pressure they were under at that time, but my god these guys, it didn't matter that they were reluctant, they did it anyway which is the whole freaking point…

It was actually quite hard for me to go back to the beginning again where I despised all the heirs. They truly came a long way.

My favorite ships, scenes, quotes and random thoughts:

➤ I can't believe how Darius kept ignoring the signs the stars sent him 🤦‍♀️

➤ I absolutely loved the little glimpse of nice Darius when he was nice to Darcy.

➤ The gem stone scene with Darius and Orion 😂
That one gave me book six Geraldine vibes (if you read Fated Throne, you should know what I mean lmao)

➤ The bond/friendship between Darius and Orion.

➤ The palmistry reading!!

➤ I need a novella about how Orion got stuck up a mountain for sixteen hours 😂

➤ The way Orion keeps himself entertained is so freaking funny. I love this type of pettiness. He really reminds me of a grumpy, but loveable cat lol I mean, tripping up students because they wore their uniform wrong but preventing Darcy from tripping over her own feet even though she wore her uniform wrong too? Pure comedy. He was a goner from the start and I loved seeing it.

➤ My favorite scene has to be the bar scene from Orion's POV. Fran who?

3,0 sur 5 étoiles I should have read this after book 1 not after 8

It was great to see the story of the awakening through the guys eyes. The writers add too much fluff as usual. It was exciting to see Darious and Orions relationship through their eyes earlier on and see how the monster Darius was created and his internal struggle with who he wanted to be and who his father wanted him to be

3,0 sur 5 étoiles Disappointing

This book does not rise to the level of the others in the series to date. The authors note reflects that they had difficulty writing it and that is reflected in the difficult read.

The whole series was a waste of read time. It had no end. The reader is left with nothing. Last book felt like a glorified re-read, perspective aside.

3,0 sur 5 étoiles Liked seeing this side

It was nice, seeing this alternative side to the story. I hugely disliked the boys after reading The Awakening. But reading this version, added more depth and humanity. This helped me feel a speck more understanding, though I 100% do not condone bullying, it helped me feel a little less stressed while reading from their point of view.

I love the book and the series but the book came in a large box with all the other books in the series so the cover was messed up and it also has some pages that are shorter than the rest. All the others were in good condition though.

3,0 sur 5 étoiles interesting insights

Having read the other stories with the guys’ POVs this wasn’t anything new. It pretty much played out how I imagined it would based off the other stories. It was fun to see the Easter eggs that would later reveal themselves in the next books. The stuff with Caleb and Seth, Orion being like his father, Max’s infatuation with Grus that you didn’t realize started so early, and the bonds the guys are feeling. I’d definitely say one should read this just to know a bit more about them than what is portrayed in the other books.

3,0 sur 5 étoiles Great series but ridiculously long...
Commenté aux États-Unis 🇺🇸 le 25 février 2022

I enjoyed reading all the books up until this one... here I thought I was getting an ending to the series but no... it's a summary of the other books from the Heir / Orion point of view. Then I realize I'm not going to get to read the ending until December... I wouldn't even have started reading this series if I realized I wouldn't know the ending for 9 months. This book wasn't needed.
