Sur les 4 Marchands, l'histoire de Parker est la dernière. Une histoire installée et entremêlée dans les tomes précédents de cette série. Et dans cette série, Jamie protagoniste féminine de ce tome, apparaît comme la meilleure amie de Lily. Elle est mentionnée lors de son enterrement de vie de jeune fille. Et donc il est évident que ça coince côté chronologique en comparaison avec ce tome. Quelle erreur! L'autrice explique un oubli plus de 2 ans après l'écriture du tome dans lequel cette scène se déroule. Entre temps une fois l'erreur vue, le choix de modifier sa présence dans le livre Ice cold boss est fait. Facilité de supprimer les données via kindle, pratique pour les futurs lecteurs, déception pour ceux qui auront déjà lu ce passage et seront surpris de Jamie dans ce livre. Un énorme problème de relecture avant la sortie du livre, qui m'aura bien agacée!

Petites erreurs aussi sur les métiers. Le frère photographe ne prendrait pas des photos à la volée des plats. Un photographe pro fait ça en studio avec une mise en lumière particulière! Et je ne m'y connais pas tant avec les bateaux mais j'ai l'impression qu'il y a des choses pas tout à fait logiques...

Pour autant, j'ai bien aimé la simplicité des deux protagonistes. J'ai aussi apprécié que l'autrice décrive une femme vulnérable suite à des abus psychologiques de son ex-compagnon. Elle aurait pu creuser cet aspect un peu plus en profondeur mais ça change de personnage, et je trouve ça intéressant!
Globalement une lecture sympathique, efficace et tout à fait dans le style de l'autrice. Sur ce tome il faut simplement passer au delà des erreurs commises.

C’est une belle simple romance entre Jamie qui revient dans sa ville d’enfance, un peu honteuse après des années d’absences et de dépréciations par son ex conjoint, mais qui va se reconstruire, notamment avec Parker, le frère de sa meilleur ami, qui l’accompagne, la met en valeur. Leur histoire est tendre, chaude et simple

In all honesty, I’ve adored this series but this may be my favourite by Olivia Hayle yet.

This review is a bit spoilery - you’ve been warned!

Jamie comes back to Paradise with her daughter to start afresh. After leaving her abusive husband, she comes back home, unsure of who she is anymore but unwilling to continue to subject her daughter to life in such a home.

Parker is the brother that is routed is Paradise. When he finds that Jamie has started work in his restaurant, he knows then and there that he gets a second chance to woo his teenaged crush. But Jamie isn’t the teenager that left all those years ago. She has emotional wounds that are still raw, still leaving her untrusting of her own worth. What she finds is that Parker isn’t the teenager she left behind either and the man has very much made up his mind when it comes to her …

Firstly, I will say that this book has its tough moments. Jamie’s abuse at the hands of her husband is very well written and the resulting emotional damage is handled with respect and realism. It is not shied away from and there are on page scenes - Her husband is a complete horror show. I adored watching Jamie heal.

Jamie is a wonderful FMC. She reaches her limit with her abuser when he starts to use his emotional manipulation on their daughter. She comes back to Paradise with no plan other than starting again; her bravery and strength is the core part of her character that I loved.

She starts the book with no foundations, having had them all stripped away. With the support of all the other characters in the book she starts to build up her strength; whether is it physical strength with Parker during their workouts or emotional strength with Lily, the first person she admits her abuse to outside of her family, she changes over the course of the book. Her journey is at the centre of the book and I’ll admit it made me cry.

This book is absolutely amazing and I have bought it (yes, off KU). Parker may be one of my favourite heroes and he was perfect for this.

I don’t know what I expected from Parker. In the other books, he was always the baby of the family and seemed to be a joker more than anything else. But that isn’t the man we see in these books; this Parker is responsible, loyal and completely wonderful. This Parker is the affectionate, patient man who allows Jamie’s the space to come to him when she’s ready, never allowing her to think he doesn’t adore her, whilst never pressuring her into feeling the same. This Parker is the man who becomes such a safe harbour, she is able to admit when the toxic voices take over, smothering her in self-doubt. I loved him.

Tropes-wise, we have siblings best-friend (Jamie is Lily’s BFF), found family (the scenes with Emma were absolutely adorable), second-chance romance and boss-employee romance.

You can read this romance as a stand-alone and I think you should read it; It’s perfect.

One more book from Olivia that I loved. A bit darker than the other ones as it deals with abuse but still gave us hope and a HEA. It was also great to see all the siblings and how their lives have evolved. James was a family friend but left her hometown, eventually getting trapped in an abusive relationship. She decided to move away with her daughter after enduring verbal abuse for years and she went back to her mother and her town where she grew up. James always had a crush on Parker but being her best friend's older brother and a Marchand, she never managed to admit her feelings.
Now fate has it that they are brought together and it seems that Parker also had respect and feelings for James.
It's not an easy ride, thanks to her ex and to James' bruised confidence but we get the happily ever after that they both deserve.
Olivia breathes life to her characters and you wish they were your friends as well

Solid reads - just a bit of small continuity issues

A new author for me so I wasn’t sure but I did purchase a copy and quite enjoyed this read accept for the few errors - the biggest a continuity error. A single mom, second chance read. Normally, I gravitate to single dad reads so I thought this would be good The story is a nice length, just short of 300 and revolves around Parker and Jamie. It’s been many years since they last saw each other but Jamie is back in town now.

Olivia Hayle did it again honestly this was a really good book and good series however I did not like the first one but once you get pass that one you will love the rest but for once I can say I read all of her books she listed at the end and I feel accomplished. However this series is not my favorite series of hers and if I where to read one of her series again it wouldn’t be this series it would be New York billionaire series so I definitely recommend that but you won’t regret reading this series it’s good after the first book you won’t stop thinking about it

I enjoyed Parker and Jamie’s story. Not having read the previous books in the series I probably spoiled myself but never mind.

I appreciated Parker’s patience with Jamie and the care he took with both her and Emma.

Nice characters, good plot and satisfying ending.

Another good story from Olivia. It's slow start they just old friendand for the first half of the book, but the second half definitely makes up for it. My only wish I want a Parker too . I mean the man is just perfect
