I've been having a blast with this one. Tripp and Des were so adorable together.

Tripp and Des have been besties ever since meeting each other in hockey. Tripp has been in love with Des ever since the first meet, but he knows nothing will ever happen since Des is straight.They do everything together much to the annoyance of Des' girlfriend. When she hints about wanting to marry, Des freaks out.
When on an outing in Vegas Des asks his bestie to have a fake marriage ceremony to see what it's like, they want hand the papers in to make it real. But of course, low and behold, they turn out to be actually married and all hell brakes loose.
They are advised to keep the fake marriage going 'till everything slows down. Meanwhile, they start to explore sexually and it turns out Des isn't as straight as he thinks he is.
I really love these two characters. I loved how sweetly oblivious Des was in not seeing how in love he is with Tripp. And how patient Tripp was, how he was willing to get hurt just so he could have Dex even just for a short time.
Story short... I just loved this book!!

Friends to lovers - hockey teammates - PR Nightmare love it !!

What a wonderful story and such a PR nightmare. I just love how the Queer Collective tries to help Tripp to get past his feeling for Dex, and to run interference between the two, fearing for him to end with a broken heart and to help move one. However, Dex doesn’t let them act, he doesn’t want to lose Tripp, who is his best friend, not having him all the time with him is weird, he is the man whom he turned to if he needs any sexual or relationship advice, they’re the Mitchell brother on the ice, their bromance is famous and nothing can come between them !

When the circumstances lead to them living together, Dex starts to realise that he never truly saw who Tripp is as a man and as a possible partner. Meanwhile, Tripp has to see the man he loves, every day, without telling him what he feels…
Juggling with the situation, hockey, fans, teammates, and the Collective, the season is up and running, and they will have to face everything that will happen, the good and the bad.

More, more and more, I just love this series, the connection with CU Hockey and the Fake Boyfriend series, seeing all the characters all over again it’s just fantastic. And I cannot wait to learn more about Oskar, he seems to be something !

Awwww I loved this story. Dex is such a cute puppy. I loved the relationahip, the banter, the goofing around. Had the cluelessness gone on much further than it did I may have
gotten fed up. All in all it was a great read. I enjoyed it slightly more than the Egosystical one but I think it's because it was softer in a way more emotional.

I hope you get my meaning 🙈😂

I'm really enjoying Saxon James and Eden Finley collabs. Together they're creating some of the most exciting, fun, hot reads for me. Almost all the characters they've written have been memorable and amazing to read.
And all the hockey stuff is just knitting me tighter into this world.
I like how with each book, they're taking overused tropes but creating magic. I've always loved best friends to lovers premises but so much has been written and read that I don't know what more can be Said here. I was wrong. Dex and Tripp were a joyyyy. And I wished more people were like Dex. I didn't think of him as a himbo. And Tripps love for him conveyed that and convinced me of that. Now after this sweet read, I want to read something edgy and hopefully Oskar's story will give me that.

I thought i will have some problems with Dex and your slow way to understand things, but no! Dex was super developed and i loved him, more than Tripp (suprised me either kkk)
The plot is so nice, but the climax is only in the end of the book, and it would be nice to see more of Dex taking charge of his own life.
But, even then, i loved the book and i recommend to all

Irresponsible Puckboy is the second in Eden Finley and Saxon James’ hockey romance series, Puckboy.

This time it’s a good friends to lovers, fake marriage trope story. I was looking forward to it as Tripp Mitchell, one of The Queer Collective, was a interesting character in the first book. The rest of his friends were on him about his one-sided love for his dimwitted best friend and fellow Vegas teammate .

How was that going to play out?

Much as you would expect it seems.

Tripp’s a well defined character, his pain over the years of hiding his passion and love for Dex is almost awkward to read. Especially when Dex is so hugely oblivious as well as admittedly being not the sharpest tool in the shed.

It’s a two person POV, which helps because while you immediately connect with Tripp, trying to find a way to make a case for someone who’s basically a Golden on the low scale of perception, gets trickier.

Make no make you believe Dex is a person of little self reflection, with zero concept of life outside of food, and hockey, uh, the basics. But that’s a puppy or a toddler who can skate.

And having to read about Dex as he painfully navigates mentally through the most rudimentary concepts and ideas gets a bit annoying. At one point, after he lets himself into Tripp’s penthouse unannounced, he actually throws himself between Tripp and the man he’s had a one night stand with the next morning. Dex , while he’s in bed with the naked couple, whines about his girlfriend, and wonders why Tripp’s not exactly thrilled to see him.

Yes, there’s many other questions this scene brings up but you get my issues here.

Once they “fake marry” , the lack of communication in some areas as Dex decides to try on being gay brings up a bunch of issues as well.

It’s no wonder The Queer Collective has so many doubts about them.

Part of this story is Dex’ journey to pansexuality and coming out. But as the character was written, he just never felt layered enough or as complete as Tripp.

I’m probably not in the majority here. But this book and couple didn’t strike the same sparks as Ezra and Anton, either on or off the ice.

It was just a little bit lacking on one side.

The business end when dealing with the fallout of their marriage, the press and their managers, and even how the team handled it. That felt believable. Team dynamics are a funny thing , and it’s elements like this or certain teammates that can throw a season.

I’m anticipating the next book. I’m hoping it will feature a real bad boy of the Collective. Oskar. Won’t that be delicious!

If friends to lovers, and fake marriage tropes are your thing. If cute dim boyfriends are part of the storyline? This is the book for you. It’s got a sweet HEA.

Contains: teammates, falling for my straight best friend, fake wedding in vegas.... or not so fake, pansexual awakening, first time gay seggs. 

If you like this kind of trope: bestfriend to lovers, awakening, married in Vegas, this book is for you. Read it and you won't be disappointed.

The whole book is a gem. Dex and Tripps made a brief appearance in book 1, but can be read entirely as a standalone. Although for my part, I prefer to read the previous books to have the joy of finding back my favorite characters.

In this book, all the twists and turns become PR's worst nightmares. There is a vast level of feelings : of doubt, questioning, apprehension and guilt. The feelings kept me spellbound throughout the reading. I went through the whole range of emotions. I felt their distress, their anguish, their heartbreak.

I loved the inclusion and support of their sisters. The support of Tripps' parents.
I loved the nostalgic moments of reconnecting with our favorite characters from others series: Damon, Anton and Ezra among others.

Dive into the book and discover their journey of two best friends and teammates who are headed straight for PR nightmares, where they will have to do damage control. Tripps has a huge crush on his staight bestfriend and teammate. Dex is sweet, adorable, and too oblivious to Tripps' feelings. He is renowned for his dumbest ideas, but this one is a major one. Despite his dumb@ss side, Tripps is always there to make sure that his self-esteem is seen for what it is worth, a lot. Both are very endearing and I think they have just become my favorite characters. 

Will they be able to get through it all and still be on top or will it affect their relationship/friendship, their games, their team?

And let me tell you, the friendship scenes are fully heartwarming, the romance scenes are fully smoochy, and the intimacy scenes are spicy, sensual and so exciting. The səxual chemistry between the characters is electric, the voltage is about to overheat.

I took off a star, because despite Oskar and Ezra's reasoning, I find that this little bit was a bit unnecessary. I thought it would cause an early awakening or some other incident but not even that. I call it just a waste of time, something to advance the timeline of the story, but not much . If someone were to win an award for the dumbest idea they would win it.

Reasons to read this book:
- Hockey players, so hot
- Excellent friendly dynamic
- Endearing characters with unique personalities
- Səxual questioning,
- Validation of his journey towards acceptance of his orientation
- Explosive chemistry in friendship and love
- Public declaration of love

My HEART😭 This series is tearing me up in the best way. I can’t get over how invested in this world I am. I knew I’d enjoy it because I genuinely enjoy hockey and I REALLY enjoy love stories (not to mention the CU Hockey series was everything..) but the emotion and the humour and the way it all plays out book by book is drowning me in the best way possible. These guys feel real and it makes me so excited for the day when the world is ready to just let love be love, and let folx just be without all the nonsense. I think that’s my favourite part of MM romance. It’s just so much better than everything else. And it’s constantly giving hope and light with every word printed. You’re missing out if you skip this series.

Oh Dex. He is just the sweetest. The literal sweetest. But he is a little dense. He 100% reminds me of a golden retriever puppy. You cannot help but fall in love with him. And Tripp is just as kind, but a little more aware of things than Dex. And these two, well Dex and Tripp have been best friends for several years. Tripp has been in love with Dex for just as long. The problem is, Dex is straight. Everyone around them is able to see Tripp’s true feelings for Dex except Dex. People around Tripp work really hard to protect his heart…..except Tripp isn’t really interested in protecting his heart because Dex is worth it.
Dex has struggled in his life and really struggles with commitment. He hasn’t had the best of role models and to me it feels like he is a lost puppy and he needs someone to ground him, and that person is Tripp. He sees Tripp as his best friend and he really does not have many boundaries where Tripp is concerned. And this man, he LOVES to cuddle and I am here for it!
Tripp really understands Dex and defends him and supports him.
I will be honest, I was not sure how this book was going to play out but I know Eden and Saxon always deliver. Always. And this book does not disappoint. I have already read this book twice, and I know it is one that will become one I go back to ofen. There is a twist, and I really don’t want to ruin it for anyone, but it had my jaw on the floor, and I laughed until I cried. Then I cried for Tripp. But when these two finally figure themselves out and Dex realizes that a best friend with the sex stuff is also pretty great, they are so so great and cannot keep their hands to themselves. It was amazing, but with all the same humor that Tripp and Dex bring to their relationship.
If Eden and Saxon are new authors to you I suggest you just jump in with both feet. They are experts at developing characters without stalling the story. This duo also build the most amazing worlds and found families I have read in series. The queer collabortitve is possibly my favorite thing the book world has given me. Hands down. And I adore how they pull in the other groups that they have created. Do yourself a favor and dive into this series today. You will not be sorry. Also, if you are an audiobook fan their audiobooks are always as equally as amazing.
