The first few chapters were pretty good but then it all started to rub me the wrong way. *Maybe some spoilers* First thing was when Tristan mentionned "having needs" when talking about having sex with other women (not the problem obv) while they were apart. This whole concept of sex being a need especially for men is honestly problematic. He could have said literally anything else. Also I wish we stopped normalizing women always being responsible for birth control. Then I felt like all they add was sex. No real connection like they were together because they were attracted to each other and sex was great but that's about it. Around 70% it got super cliché with a helicopter and whatnot so it's a DNF for me.

I have read the first two books in this series so far. In the whole they aren't bad, but there needs to be more attention to detail. There is a disclaimer that the books are written in British English, yet they aren't really - which is annoying at times as you float between English and American. Expressions are wrong eg. He'll have another thing coming, it should be think. Normalcy is not an English word. We have solicitors and barristers not lawyers, it's a training contract not trainee, you don't have CEO's in law firms and Men never wear a tux to a wedding, nor do the bridesmaids walk first. Underwear is pants for men of boxers and knickers for women, unless you are from the midlands\north, then it's pants not panties. The author needs to pick either English or American English and stick with it. You can have a glossary for words at the back. Ps. There is no such thing as British English, there is only English or American English.

I enjoyed reading this until 80% where the final (cliché) pick conflict must be and followed by the resolution. In some plots that point is plain stupid misunderstanding and shows that the characters easily thinks the worst of eachother and don't trust eachother. In these series the break up moment makes me think: how you come back from here?!? I was close to give up on the book at 80% as I did with the previous. I finished it anyway. But... there are a few things that kind of bothered me. Don't read further, spoilers...

In 8 of 10 cases, while mingling, people were drinking heavily. Felt that everybody were having alcoholism. Soon they all will need a Therapy.
I would like to see Elly success at the law firm. I would like to see that she is clever and well read. But she was a regular 25 y o.
Elly's mother was terrible. Working was never in her plan and that Elly called "hippie", different people staying at their house just for a few nights while Elly was a child. Drinking, the mother forgot that her daughter is coming to visit. Taking valium, reminding Elly how hard was to be a single mother. Saying that is hard to pay her bills but she wasn't paying, Elly was paying. One evening the mother called Elly panicked that someone broke her window with a brick. Elly says I'm coming right now! From London to Wales because someone broke her glass! Whaaa??
Elly: One year saving cats to look good on the CV?? How, when if She was for months in Mykonos working, "saving money" with low paid jobs and loving the landscape, painting (never mentioned after), looking for the perfect picture to be taken...
She loves photography, we never saw her take a picture.
She spoke a few languages, we heard her once using this skill to help Tristan in Greece.
The incident with the valium pills and the child trying them was too much. Too much to say, ok, it happens, that's ok, not a big deal.
Well, that's enough, finishing with her insecurity: why why do you want me! You can have anybody. She was asking that again and again. At age 25 (he is over 40) is normal maybe but not sure if is attractive.
However, beside all that, i enjoyed the book.

Tristan Kane-40, divorced and ultra successful happens upon 25-yr-old Elly on holiday in Greece. Instant attraction and he can't help himself. He needs more but messes up and doesn't know how to contact her.
Tristan was a bit frustrating and dealing with someone 15 years younger and niave about parts of life frustrates him. Personally I don't think I would have taken him back after his last mess up.
Having IBD, I can relate to Elly. If you haven't experienced it, you can't understand how it affects your body and at times rules your life.
I am enjoying this series and look forward to book 3.

Taming Mr. Walker was the writers first book and I really liked that one so when Resisting Mr. Kane was out I wanted to read that too.
I loved it. Tristan and Elly meet in an unusual way on a beautiful Greek island. The only thing I will tell you is if you need a feel good story and a book that you will not put down until you know what happens, than this is the book for you.
I hope there will be a book about Jack and perhaps Megan too!
