A beautifully written love story.

A love story with a lot of interesting and hilarious things happening. Just as many serious conversations and thoughts also.
Pippa Grant brings Begonia and Hayes to life in full bloom inside of the story. She somehow always keeps them true to the story and from the reading I’ve done not very many authors are gifted with that ability. This was a complicated story that unbelievably happened start to finish over less than 2 weeks of time. And the reader has to actually mark the days passing to keep up with all that’s happening because if you don’t it could actually seem like a year or two in the story. And interestingly enough the story is not rushed in that 2 weeks.
Lots of love making which in my opinion is not really necessary to the story but definitely does make the story more interesting and even possibly more real.
I had to do a “highlight”on page 130 and 131. If you are really paying attention to what Pippa is saying here and if she has convinced you that Begonia and Hayes are real (as she did for me) then in my opinion this is some very powerful words and thoughts. Enough to make a reader pause or dry their eyes
I can’t stress enough how this book was such a great surprise to read. I don’t really know what I was expecting but it definitely was not what Pippa gave us. This is the first story of hers I’ve read but it definitely won’t be the last.
I did find one inconsequential error on page 92. The only one I found or that struck me in the entire book. And that is excellent word craft and editing, which I really appreciate.
Also although it isn’t easy to do (or it wasn’t for me) to get the extra bonus epilogue from Pippa on “ crashing the funeral “. It is worth reading.

Billionaire troupes aren't my thing. So you ask why would I read a book with "billionaire" even in the title? For the dog. Not for my dog, but because there's a dog in the book. Yep, I'm that person.

If you found a secluded mansion on the beach on a vacation rental website for $50 a night, would you rent it? What would happen when the mansion's owner arrives to escape his pushy family and he finds you in his bathroom waxing your you-know-what?

Hayes finds Begonia in his previously unoccupied mansion and tells her she needs to pack her things and get out… until Hayes finds out his mother is on her way… with her entourage. Their mission - find a wife for Hayes. Then the lightbulb goes off. Hayes makes Begonia his fake girlfriend.

The fake girlfriend thing continues longer than Begonia wants. The tabloids hear about them and Hayes thinks they take things too far when something gets published about them. Hayes and Begonia end things, but is that really what they need? Hayes figures out what makes him happy, and with the help of Begonia's sister, he is able to make Begonia happy too.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. I don't typically care for billionaire troupes because some of them seem so far-fetched that it is hard for me to get into them. I'm not saying every book has to be believable, but I just can't get into the whole "I have all the money in the world, so I'm buying you the Hope Diamond, an albino jaguar, and so many shoes you won't have to wear the same pair twice in your life" sort of thing 🤷‍♀️ But for a billionaire book, this was light on things like that, and the things that Hayes did buy for Begonia were truly meaningful, which I loved.

Definitely a disappointment. I remember reading one of her other books and not really liking it honestly I felt like this was everywhere where I can’t follow and don’t want to follow since it wasn’t interesting I felt like this book went down that same path and I wish it was more interesting but hopefully when I read her next book they be better.

Pippa's books always have that fine line between funny and cringy, and this story wasn't that much different. It made me laugh and it made me love, but at the same time it wasn't all that great. The writing is good, but the overall plot is kind of stupid. The pace of the book was weird, they were "together" for a week and a half, but of course they fell in love in that timeline. I just hate when everything happens that fast, I want love stories that feel real, not this unreal thing.

There are plenty of people giving this five star reviews so I am obviously in the minority, but I finished reading this book solely as an exercise in self-hatred. The female lead is SO annoying, please believe me. There were a few reviews that mentioned this, but I didn’t think anything of it since I’m pretty open to a variety of stories. She’s like a toddler on pixie sticks, even the dog is annoying, and I’ve never been annoyed by a dog. I gave this book three stars because I’ve never given a one star review, but this is my least favorite book I have read in a long while.

I wish I could have given it more starts. I really wanted to but the beginning killed it for me. I honestly almost didn’t get past their meeting. It was too over the top for me, I will be honest and say I skimmed some of it. Once I got past the initial meeting in Maine I was able to get into the book and really enjoyed it. There were a few moments where I thought people’s behavior was a little childish for their age though. It was funny and emotional at the same time. What you’d expect from a Pippa Grant book.
So if you are struggling with the beginning keep going it’s worth it.

I'm not understanding how this story can be referred to as a romantic comedy. If you are looking for a well written book and expecting rom - com I would suggest passing this by. It was a difficult read that I had to push myself through to get to the ending. I assigned it three stars because although I didn't care for it someone else may but gave this review for other readers like me to avoid it.
