I have read two Mafia Wars New York now and the Marino stories just don’t do it for me. The Ivanoff and O’Malley were awesome and the intrigue was intense. These two just don’t have the level of intensity and the Marino’s spend most of their time yelling at each other than anything else.
I have not warmed to Bridget in any previous books and Cara in book 2 is running second for dummy of the year. Seriously she gets kidnapped by sex traffickers and ends up on stage naked to be auctioned off. She gets rescued by Gianni and has absolutely no reaction about how dangerous her situation was with the sex trafficking??? Clueless!
Then she is told not to go out without bodyguards as her life is in danger so she hops a cab on her own without telling anyone and gets kidnapped again by the same guy who is responsible for her being sold in the first place. Oops she forgot about the bodyguards 😱. And those are the highlights of this story. Sorry author but it’s too much of the same same. Maybe this horse has been flogged enough?

Cara and Gianni have been on and off again since high school. Every time he says it'll be different, but ends up walking away and hurting her all over again. But since she's been in her 40s, she DONE. D. O. N. E. Done and when Gianni tries to warn her about her current boyfriend, she blows him off thinking he's just trying to win her back to break her heart again. Gianni knows he's messed up, but after the last time she wrote him off, he's been desperate to get her back. When her new "boyfriend" kidnaps her to get at Gianni, he knows he's got to take drastic measures to prove he's all in this time and to keep her safe.

I had super strong feelings with this one, lol. Like visceral strong feelings and it took me a couple days to write this one out. The writing is fantastic and it's not stop action and hot smexy times from page one. Tons of things going on. Pieces moving on the board for overarching storylines. I absolutely love the complex world Maggie Cole is building. The relationship between Gianni and Cara is super hot. They obviously have tons of chemistry and a lifetime of history between them and Maggie does a fantastic job of writing that into the story. Gianni basically spends the whole book trying to prove to her he's a changed man. Grand gestures ✅ . (Slight) groveling ✅ . Lots of super super hot smexy ✅ . I just couldn't with Gianni, though. I think it was specifically, his desire now that they're in their 40s ... to settle down and pop babies out that pushed me to the "I would never forgive this man" category, lol. Like she hasn't had kids this entire time because of him and now he wants her to start popping them out. That was just too much for me and quite frankly, I would have washed my hands of him, but I'm really glad I read the book as part of the series and I actually really enjoyed it overall... if that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Immoral is the second book in the Mafia Wars New York series by Maggie Cole. The books are interconnected standalones and sometimes run in parallel, but best enjoyed when read in series order. They are told in first person, from dual perspective.

Let me just start by saying that the amount of steaminess between Cara and Gianni is off the charts! Maggie’s writing just pulls you in from the start. Cara and Gianni have a long, involved history and Cara is at a point in her life that she’s just DONE. Done with Gianni’s games and his hot and cold attitude towards her. Finally, after years of going back and forth, Gianni realizes he needs Cara in his life. Can Cara let the past go and focus on the future with Gianni? This story is very entertaining and is extremely hot and steamy. I was right with Cara the whole way, and had a hard time in seeing Gianni’s redeeming qualities. He had let SO much time pass and just be wasted that it made me sad. However, Gianni is all alpha male and after realizing he needs Cara, he just takes. Steamy AF! Another winner from Maggie!

Written in dual first person POV. Good amount of sexy times. Beware - this book does have scenes of torture (NOT fade to black) and starts with the female MC being sold, naked, at an auction. Has an HEA but the last chapter really only sets up the next book instead of providing updates for the current couple.

The book starts slow and takes time to get going. Truthfully, I didn’t really like either character in the beginning. Gianni acts like a spoiled child with anger issues and Cara won’t forgive him for the past (he ran away whenever things got too serious between them) even though he literally just saved her life. It was pretty boring in the middle but did get better towards the end.

I have to say I wasn't sure about this one. I truly got sick of the "I can't love him again or let him in" that went on and on. But the story grew on me then I got mad again when Cara stupidly ran off at the event. Really during fashion week! That was a bit farfetched. But in true Maggie Cole style things ramped up and moved quick at the end. Glad they got their HEA and the family business keeps going. :)

I have long been a fan of all things Maggie Cole, and this book starts out with a bang. And while I enjoyed the storyline, it lacked a certain oomph that I’ve come to expect from this author. This is what happens when the bar of excellence has been set so high based on previous releases, but all in all a good read that fell just a little short for me.

Have they been betrayed? He must get her to love him again. He saved her but still she doesn’t trust him. She will live him again even if he’s messed up before. He promises it won’t occur again. She said she would not fall for him again. He must keep her safe all while the enemy hides.

Ah, Maggie Cole, you wrote the best mafia books. This is a continuation of the Marino series. All intermingled are the O’Malley’s and Ivanov’s.
Exquisite. Cara and Gianni have a long and tangled and sordid history.
Finally, life works out.
But the whole mafia brutality. Just woah.

Such a hidden gem, it was a fabulous read. Thoroughly enjoyed it the story and plot is on point. The characters were absolutely enjoyable to read from head strong Cara to stubborn Gianni. Sometimes hurt is hard to get over. The spice was excellent....
