Review:
I go back and forth between loving it and hating it. By the end of book 2 I'm loving it again. I'm giving a 4 because while there are things I didn't like, there is enough here to have me want to continue to book 3.
One thing that still bothers me is that I feel like I'm missing something with Daphne's brother Leo. He has his own trilogy and I think it should have been read first. I mention this in my review of book one. I think reading The Beast of Bishop's Landing series first would be better. Leo is an intriguing character even in this book and a lot is given away about his story. It felt like we are assuming that Leo's books had been read, and for me they hadn't and I hate spoilers so I don't even know if I will read them now.
Emerson is fascinating! The way he sees the world is so different and the way he feels for Daphne are mesmerizing. At first, I didn't understand. It didn't feel like love for him at all. He is very clinical, but by the end of this book, you understand him so much more and the understanding of what Daphne is to him is beautiful. People deal with traumatic events differently; humans are so complex.
Daphne is such a sheltered character. I don't mean that in a bad way, but she is. She does begin to understand Emerson and finally admits to her needs in all this. She needs to feel the way Emerson makes her feel. She is precious and innocent and needs to be taken care of. Daphne is a pure soul in a very harsh world. She needs to be saved. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Great series, . the families all interweave. I love all of them. I started with the last set. Make sure you go by the reading order, it is a better read if you do. I have read 15 books, maybe. I love them all.

It was over the top, but I had a much better understanding of both Daphne and Emerson in this book versus the first book. Damaged doesn’t even begin to describe Emerson. His family is pretty much a wreck as well. Poor little sheltered Daphne doesn’t stand a chance with these guys, but especially with Emerson. It ended at a place where I feel for both of them. It’s definitely a unique situation and add Leo Morelli into the mix, and you know how crazy things are. Onto Last Resort to get the resolve I hope is coming.

No spoilers here. I’ll just say that everything was going along smoothly and was kind of what I expected having read almost all of Wilde’s other books and then bam! Everything was different and there was a nice big shock. I know that some people will find this second instalment difficult to read but I liked it so much more than the first. I’m an introspective person and I like theory and philosophy so I appreciated the inner thoughts of the characters but I can bet people will complain and call it monologuey. Emerson was so much easier to understand and empathize with in this book and Daphne started to understand her own strengths.
I swear I’m not giving it five stars just because I have to wait two months for the next book and the waiting might legit kill me

I like the path Daphne's story is taking. This book is delicious. The steam level bumped up and the emotions are higher. I can't wait for the finale.

Beautifully written, these two sort of remind me of Leo and Haley's love and how they became one. What is with all this kidnapping. This is one hot, hot and mesmerizing story. Makes for a match made in HEAVEN. Emerson's truly has Daphne on a very high pedestal. If anyone can love Emerson through his memories of pain, it'll definitely be Daphne. Leo just needs to remember this. I absolutely love this second book. I'm on my way to reading the third. WAY TO GO AMELIA, YOU'RE AWESOME AND DEFINITELY A MASTER OF LOVE.

Okay let me start by saying It’s my fault for buying book 2. I should have stopped 20% in to book 1 and didn’t so fool me once. This was the first series I read from this author and when I started reading the first book I was so confused I thought the story was about Emerson and Daphne but 60% of the book was about some guy named Leo and his kidnapped Hayle so I was totally lost cause it seemed like it was part of a different story. Should have just stopped and moved on to a different author but didn’t. So here I am reading book 2 and holy cow it gets worse. Emerson kidnapped Daphne and she should be afraid and angry but no she is actually very turned on because he is very attractive and I guess it doesn’t hurt that he is rich. Now let me be clear there are some dark and twisted books that are great but they tend to make sense and the characters have depth. I think Emerson’s story was a good one but the author swept it under the rug to quickly and made the story to busy. Needless to say I will not know how this story ends because instead of making a good story in one book the author wants to sell me 3 books when book1 and I’m sure book 3 are full of fluff.

Prose renditions of anger, fear, despair, panic atttacks, depression, loss of control fellings of dying, Images in the mind of being abused by being locked away in a state of sensory deprivation. No stimulation, no air, no water, no food no wayt to relieve the bodily sensations. Images in the mind of flashbacks to unmitigated fear,flowing terror of physical abuse choking out life.How to survive and function on a daily basis in the world. Emerson collects representations of emotions made visible through the medium of art and lock them away. Strip all feelings and reactions. Sublimate in artistic expressions. Daphne expresses in her paintings.Emerson needs to collect her in his gilded cage. Daphne needs to fly free.Clashing needs, willful actions in book 2 What I like is reading to discover if clarity can result to a life without their pathologies but maintaining their sense of self.

The book was good until the last few chapters. It was certainly different but still good. Interesting that both Daphne and Emerson come from such horrific fathers but Leo, whom I loved in his books, interference kind of ruined it for me. Didn't like anything about it in fact. Hope the last book can quickly get past this.

The cliffhanger at the end I can't wait to start book 3. This series just keeps getting better. I loved reading about Daphne and Emerson and how their relationship progressed. I fell in love with Emerson reading this. My heart broke for both of them when they were discussing how they were brought up. It makes total sense why Emerson is the way he is. He is changing though for Daphne even if he doesn't realize it. An OMG moment was when Daphne become a living work of art in her own frame and what happened to her I won't spoil the spice for anyone! I literally can not wait to see what happens between Daphne and Emerson in book 3 and hope that my heart won't break anymore like it did at the end of book 2.
