En bref, j'étais hyper curieuse de découvrir l'histoire entre Sabrina et Adrik et le moins que l'on puisse dire est qu'ils sont intenses tous les deux. Les pages défilent rapidement, j'étais prise par l'intrigue et ses nombreux rebondissements et l'autrice n'épargne clairement pas ses personnages. Les événements s'enchainent, ils vont devoir prendre des décisions qui vont changer leurs vies et j'ai aimé la façon dont ils sont libres et libérés tous les deux dans leur relation. La romance est très bien faite aussi et le tout nous fait vivre des moments intenses en leur compagnie. Le final est explosif, comme le reste de la saga et on les quitte avec le sourire aux lèvres ! Une belle aventure !!

Darker and more consuming than the other Kingmakers books

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. That's not because it was perfect, but because there are a lot of aspects to this book that I wouldn't usually read (serious arrogance in MCs, FFM & FF scenes, OW etc) and yet despite that, I fell in love with these characters, their strengths, their flaws and their story of love, heartbreak and acceptance. Make no mistake this is a true mafia book where we witness and empire being built, but the emotions are raw and explosive throughout. This book is a lot tougher than the others, the emotions on the darker, dangerous side of love and desire, which is fitting as these are some of the most volatile characters Sophie has written.

From the previous Kingmakers books we get a glimpse of what Sabrina and Adrik are like, but this book fully delves into who they truly are, the lengths they'll go to to secure what they want and dole out the justice they think is owed. They are both strong headed and high tempered individuals who do nothing in halfs, the two together can either be a match made in heaven or the equivalent of a nuclear bomb. There were moments I hated Adrik or wanted to shake Sabrina, but also moments where my heart ached for them. They have a very passionate dynamic, playful with cheeky banter, highly intelligent in their planning, destructive in their arguments and explosive when they physically connect.

There are A LOT of sex scenes in this book but none of them felt forced or repetitive. Regardless of what had just occured or been said this is how they connect on a elemental level. In conjunction with the suggested playlist the scenes felt more sensual than anything else. Also with Sabrina being bisexual, I was happy that any sexual activity with her an another woman was to satisfy her desires not to put on a show for Adrik or any man. It was clear to see that she enjoyed both the softness and femininity of a woman while also wanting the aggression and power Adrik possessed.

This is such a gripping story with lots of great side characters you can't help but to love and returning characters that really give you a feeling of home if you've read Sophie's other series. I loved seeing some of my favourite characters as parents, especially Nero, Sabrina's dad so shares so many of her best and worst characteristics.

This was a story of self understanding, acceptance and growth while still having an emotional core and a true Mafia environment.

Up front I'm not a fan of sharing in my romance books. The blurb made it clear this would feature some sharing etc and I'm glad I was able to prepare for it. I was already in love with Sabrina and Adrik so I knew I would read this either way.

Here's the thing, the ffm scenes, it's not my preference but it's true to the characters and Sabrina especially. She's free with her sexuality, and that's a huge part of her personality. The freedom, the attraction it's genuine.

I love how we are pulled into the romance alongside Sabrina and Adrik. I had a grin on my face from their antics and banter. I've been rooting for them since they first crossed paths in The Spy, so getting to see them properly fall for each other was amazing.

Obviously not everything is smooth sailing for them once they are together and I feel like the stakes are raised even higher here than in previous Kingmakers books. Everyone is a possible enemy in The Savage.

I loved seeing Nero again as a father, same with the whole Petrov family. The steamy scenes between Sabrina and Adrik are crazy hot. Most of the angst comes from two people trying to figure out what they want in life and how to balance work, love and trust each other. I wanted to shake them both a good few times throughout.

I couldn’t put their story down and finished it in one evening. At one point I didn't know how they could get back on track to their HEA. My heart was definitely beaten around a little by the end. But I'm still glad Sophie gave us their story, it was brutal, it was savage and totally exhilarating. It was perfect for them.

Fast paced romantic adventure

After the "There are no saints" duet, I worried that perhaps Sophie Lark had gone off the boil in her writing, but in The Savage, she is back to what she does best: action-packed adventure that reads like a movie script, hot sex and a love story between two strong and intelligent characters, set in the Mafia world. Imagine a combination of James Bond, Pulp Fiction and Breaking Bad with Xena the warrior princess as the main heroine, and you might get a hint of what the story is like. Or maybe not and you'll just have to read it for yourself. I devoured it in one sitting.

Having said that, I found both Adrik and Sabrina the least likeable characters in the Kingmakers series. At nearly every turn, I rolled my eyes and despaired at some of the things they said and did. While the previous books had no shortage of strong alpha characters, there was always at some level a vulnerability that made them human and relatable. Not so in The Savage.

Also, I did feel a touch of irritation at the way Sabrina is portrayed as impossibly beautiful and intelligent (with a photographic memory no less), who somehow, with no scientific background, manages to synthesise unique recreational drugs in a lab. The subliminal message being that only impossibly gifted people get to experience that deep love and passion. We lesser mortals can only fantasize about it through the pages of a book. Yes I know we mostly read romances for escapism, but I'm a little tired of super beautiful and impossibly smart characters. It makes them a little too 2-dimensional. It was good to meet up again with Nero, one of my favourite Sophie Lark heroes, who is Sabrina's father. His story, Savage Lover, is what first got me into reading Sophie Lark books, and I still go back and re-read it on occasion.

This review was hard to write. Not because it was bad. No, quite the opposite in fact. It’s hard to write because this book is one of the best books I’ve ever read, and I don’t think I have the words to do it justice.

To put it simply, The Savage was perfect. It was everything I hoped for and more. Literally from the first page I was hooked and already obsessed. The words were addictive and I couldn’t get enough of them. And no matter how many words Sophie wrote in this book, it will never be enough- it’s just so brilliant.

This book had me completely enthralled from the start, and I have no doubt you’ll become as hooked as I did. Begging for your next fix. Devouring every word. And salivating over every new chapter.

I knew from reading her Kingmakers series- also known as one of my favourite series’s ever- that Sabrina and Adrik’s story was going to be phenomenal. The savageness of both characters wouldn’t allow for a bad book. They demanded perfection and perfection they got. Sabrina is fire. She is fierce. She is everyone’s girl crush. I absolutely love her character and the balls of steel that she has. She brought a whole new level of cunning excitement to this book. And Adrik... My precious Adrik. He is pure sin. But he also has a lot of emotion and depth, that make him a great character. And I love the way he interacted with Sabrina and excepted her brand or craziness and savagery. But what i also loved is that both characters have flaws. Because at the end of the day, us romance readers love to see traits that make these characters slightly more relatable and human.

But this story isn’t all love and rainbows. No. It has danger, it has violence and it has raw emotion. Oh and of course steamy scene that will make you blush red hot with butterflies in you stomach.

Everything about this book is brilliant. But one thing I especially loved was the detail Sophie put into it. From the smallest things in the book to the largest, Sophie left no detail out. It is clear that she spent hours researching and fine picking everything. She has put her soul into this book and it has paid of. This books is a phenomenal read!

I give this book all the freaking stars!

Ok right off the bat this was a hot read Adrik & Sabrina totally singed the kindle! It was great seeing Nero again could have definitely done with more though (I’m always greedy for more Nero 😜).

Sabrina at first I was ok with her but then she said **“I’m not exactly a team player—I barely get along with my own family… They think I need their caution and their advice. I don’t. I’m the smartest of any of them, not just some pretty face, not just some *beeping* kid.”**…. this just made me angry if I’m honest but then all young people think they always know better than the older generation.

Adrik I liked he had some really good qualities to him, but he royally messed Sabrina over and I did not appreciate that. So he kinda tanked in my eyes for that.

The relationship on the whole had a lot of toxic traits, which in real life we would totally advise them to avoid. But this is fiction so it made for juicy reading.

I don’t know about other readers but I felt the ending came up too quickly (ended to fast and neatly in a bow). Maybe it’s just me? 🤷‍♀️

I love reading Sophie’s work and honestly I’m really glad she gave the Savage so we can see all the characters we loved 🥰

There was so much to love about this book! Sabrina and Adrik are both everything I want from mcs in a mafia romance, and those spicy scenes were HOT. I enjoyed their love story and the journey of starting their empire together.

A couple of things that stopped me from giving it a full five stars - for me, the best spice takes place about 10 per cent in with Sabrina, Adrik and Kylie, and I spent parts of the book wanting to get back to that, but I don't think it ever gets there.

The other thing - there wasn’t a clear villain? I don't know, I guess I like to see that in these types of books. It helps me root for the mcs and gives a structure to the story with a clear outcome. This book has a good ending, but it didn't blow my mind.

One last thing - I enjoyed the addition of artwork, but I'm not sure that the style worked with the overall vibe of the book. I read it on my kindle, though, so I probably didn't get the full experience.

How i love the way Sophie Lark writes her books. I loved Savage Lover, but reading about Nero's daughter has to be my favorite. Sabrina is a wild child and so relentless. Adrik is just what Sabrina needed. I remembered about the winter diamond hoist too. How Nero would do anything for his daughter. I loved all of this book, i will definitely read again. Well Done!

Okay. Lacked depth, character development and story development. I wasn't a fan of Sabrina, unfortunately. I loved her character in other books but she was too selfish and immature. Adrik was a decent character but he put up with too much. I wasn't a fan of the three way sex scene and the heroine having sex with her ex after dumping Adrik in less than a week!

I absolutely loved this book & final chapter of the kingmakers!
Sabrina is intoxicating & fascinating, strong willed intense & passionate & I found myself wanting to be her! Her character really grew throughout & the power of love made her stronger with Adrik by her side. Adrik was as intense & hot as hell & his love for Sabrina was everything! The heat between them was off the charts & the first hot scenes made me want to be there too!!! Daddy Nero was perfect & I loved how he understood exactly what she needed to do even if he didn’t like it he knew she was the female version of his younger self, bold reckless & fearless!
I am so grateful to Sophie for writing his book I bloody loved it.
