My first thought is : light and easy .
This book was definitely that .

First of all , the dynamic between Ezra and Anton is very well written, their relationship gradually increases. It doesn’t fall on us out of nowhere. A well-handled enemies-to-lovers.

I laughed, a lot.. the sarky comments and inner monologues made my day. Their are irresistible together. two men afraid of relationships who will find love... always effective.

The steam is good , not scorching though. It’s detailed but the scenes are described and would have been hotter with more expression of how they felt and verbal exchanges between our two lovers

The plot is down to our two lovebirds and the discovery of their feelings for each other, with Anton who hesitated to come out and Ezra who didn’t want a relationship. No drama unnecessary (maybe not enough angst) Simple but nice

This book is a sweet MM romance with endearing characters.

Laugh, jokes, love, Hockey - Just Amazing !!!

I was so excited for this book, I really love Eden Finley and Saxon James duo and I was clearly not disappointed. This story was just incredible, there is everything that you would want to find - laugh, jokes, love, and Hockey !!! 🤩

We already had the first glance of Ezra the one and only “Entitled, eccentric and egotistical” in the last book of the Cu Hockey series (Puck Drills & Quick Trills), his apparition lead to ask for so much more, at this moment we know that he had a one-night stand which completely disturbs him.

This story truly shows us how he’s way more than he wants others to see. Behind his superstitious manners, his egotistical mannerism, we found a little boy craving affection, but he also has a kind heart and doesn’t hesitate to support all queers who come to him for reassurance, advice, and backing. Meanwhile, Anton looks more reserved but fights daily with his own insecurities, and shows strong possessiveness which gave us more spicy 🔥. At many levels, they complement each over, and it’s impossible to not want their happiness.

Seeing Grant from the CU Hockey series (Power Plays) & Ollie and even Soren😍 from the Fake Boyfriend series (Deke & Hat Trick) was so amazing.
I love the fact that they create a group “The Collective” which gave a glance for what is next to come, like always, can’t wait for it !! And of course, we can discover new characters such as Tripp, Oskar and maybe little Ayri.

Time for Ezra best moment “ I don’t think this has ever happened before … but I’m completely speechless”

If you haven't read the CU Hockey series ([book:Power Plays & Straight A's|53336266] first, I highly recommend it, because there are so many little details and characters from this series that make much more sense when you read it first - BUT you don't have to read it first to enjoy this one.

Ezra and Anton, have one of the biggest Ego on their hockey teams. They're enemies on the ice. At one game, unfortunately Ezra loose, he was looking for a distraction in the city and got into a little fight with fans. Anton came to help him and one heated discussion between them lead to another heated situation.
But, what if they want a repeat? 🧐

I really love the storytelling of Eden and Saxon, the stories are funny, emotional, sexy and low-angst and sometimes - your girl needs this🙏🥰. Special shout-out to the queer collective - I love this group already so much. Hope to see more of them in the next books.

I listened to it on audiobook, and I highly recommend it. It's dual narration and the narration is so good! 🎧

Egotistical Puckboy was exactly what I wanted it to be; and not enough – hence 3 ½ stars but not rounding up to 4. It was cute, safe, relaxing and stress free; and because of all that – which is exactly what I was looking for, it was also a little…tepid. Sometimes it managed to be almost a little too cute, too feel good. Everyone was almost too perfect. Except for Ezra’s father who was kind of a jerk – but not an obnoxious odious, needs to be culled off the planet jerk – just a sad, tedious, narcissistic jerk trying to relive his glory days through his son.

Well technically neither of Ezra Palaszczuk’s parents excelled at parenting. Neither were homophobic – so points for that; however complete lack of maternal/paternal instinct separate and apart from orientation issues, can still mess a person up. It left Ezra feeling unlovable and relationship phobic. So what does an out and proud gay hockey star do – become a life of the party puckboy. Ez can come across as egocentric and egotistical; but he really is a sweet guy and a good friend; but when it comes to relationships – give him some easy going consensual no strings attached happy hook ups.

Anton Hayes is the polar opposite of Ezra. Just as arrogant and confidently cocky but in his own stoic, quiet, reserved way. He’s private and serious. He does relationships and doesn’t share – or at least he would if he were out. He’s not in per se, but he’s not stepped very far from the opening of the closet either. Deep down he’s insecure as he worked really hard to be good at hockey and was only mediocre until college. He felt he had to fight to be good enough and to fake his confidence.

Anton and Ezra together on the surface just don’t make sense. They are both too much alike and at the same time too different. But the heart lusts as the heart lusts and when Anton gives in to one no strings attached happy hook up – sparks fly. It’s cool though, it’s not like he's going to get traded to Ez’s team where they’ll have to be in each other’s company all the time….oops. Enemies with benefits turns into a media Bromance; and as the 2 get to know each other they both realize initial impressions were deceiving.

Hockey + MM + rivals to lovers = My happy place!!

I am 100% into my hockey romance era and this has to be up there with one of my faviourtes!

This is a fast paced fun, easy but addictive read that I didn't want to put down! I read the majority of it with a stupid smile on my face.

I loved both Ezra and Anton, opposite in nearly every way but they work so well together! And the lack of 3rd act breakup or rouge agent antagonists was totally refreshing!

As much as I live hockey romances, I find it had to find one with the right balance, there is either not enough (or any) Hockey OR there's so much, that I struggle to follow what happening.
I found this book had the perfect balance or plot to spice to Hockey and I can't wait to dive into book 2!!

Summary: Ezra and Anton are rival NHL players known for having big egos. Ezra is out and proud and loud and a bit of a showboat. Anton is private and restrained. But despite their antipathy for each other, there is an attraction. A drunken hookup awakens that attraction, and then when Anton is traded and ends up on Ezra’s team, they have to decide how to get along.

Review: I really like Anton and Ezra. They have matching egos and their banter is crackling. I like that even when they don’t like each other, they recognize each other’s skill on the ice. I also like how one of the things Anton dislikes Ezra for—seeming to flaunt his sexuality—ends up being something he likes most about him because he learns two things: that Ezra isn’t trying to flaunt his sexuality—it’s more a byproduct of being unwilling to hide who he is and that Ezra uses his being out to help kids see that they can be themselves and play sports. I like that even though these guys have defensive walls around them high enough to see from space, the more time they spend with each other, the more they allow themselves to be vulnerable, moving gradually from rivals to friends to boyfriends.

I also like that there is so much West in this story—It’s so good to see that West and Ezra are still so close. I love that Saxon and Finley do so much to make their books be in the same universe. The Collective is a great concept and I like how it plays out in the book and allows the authors to pull in characters from their other books. Plus, these guys are so much fun when they’re all together.

This is a really fun, rivals to lovers, steamy, mm hockey romance. And if you’re looking for a good one—definitely read this one.

I was fascinated by Ezra since meeting him briefly in the CU Hockey series, so I was really happy he was getting a book. And what a book! This was funny and steamy in all the best ways. Anton and Ezra's relationship went from enemies to enemies with benefits to friends with benefits to lovers, and I loved every single second about it.
Anton is not really closeted but he doesn't want the world to only see him as the gay hockey player: his teammates, friends and family know, so it should be enough. Ezra on the other hand is out and proud and doesn't care about being photographed in very naughty occasions with hookups. But they're not enemies because of that, Ezra doesn't even know Anton was gay until he told him; they are enemies on the ice until the find themselves in the same team, and being enemies isn't going to be good to get results, to win the cup.
I love the kind of books that start strong with the sexual attraction of the characters and they say "no complications, we're casual", but then little by little they find themselves being jealous, thinking only about the other person, being exclusive, and then GASP, realization hits and, huh, maybe they were already dating without them knowing. But we know straight away there's no way there aren't feelings involved. Not after opening up and being sweet and caring. Not after knowing the other man helped them being their best selves without them realizing. I love it and I loved this! I loved seeing Ezra and Anton pretend they weren't boyfriend material, only for them being totally boyfriend-y at every turn. Their banter was hilarious and their chemistry amazing. I loved Anton and his big heart, and I loved Ezra and his superstitions. The black cat scene!! These men own my heart!
I know we're not getting them as MCs in the next book, but I hope we can get a short story or a lot of cameos, because I can't get enough of them.

As usual, Saxon and Eden's writing style gets to you from the first page. Funny, relatable, and steamy. The perfect mix for the perfect story. No, I still don't know anything about hockey, but I cheered for them all the same!

I have read this a few times now and love it just as much each time.
Plenty of spicy scenes without being very explicit.
Love the interaction of the characters and they worked so well together.
A really great, easy read for MM book.
Audio - I also have the audio version and it adds another layer of enjoyment and humour. The narrators are as good as ever on this one and really bring the characters to life.
