Another good read in this series. It must be difficult to come up with completely different story lines for this band of very hard working, determined to remain bachelors, and very wealthy men. There is a ribbon of sameness that threads through them all which, some readers may find annoying, but for me that was not a problem, as this band of characters are so bonded, a brotherhood of men, their thoughts and feelings are bound to be tied together. The reader feels totally in the midst of this group, as you find out their weaknesses and strengths.

I really enjoyed this one up until the ending, which went a bit off track and out of line with the characters that had developed through the rest of the book.

A Great Comfort Read.

If you’re looking for a book with a great storyline that will help you escape from your reality for a few hours, then this is the one for you. This is my first read by this author and I definitely wasn’t disappointed.

“Do you like being watched, Sofia? Do you like to show off this beautiful body and how it reacts when it’s treated just right?”

Sofia is a strong willed, sassy Italian-American from Lower Manhattan, New York, who recently graduated from Columbia university with a MBA degree. She moved to London with the hope of securing a good job and reconnecting with her birth father.

Andrew is the boss from hell and can’t seem to hold onto his PA’s for more than six months. He’s rude, obnoxious, extremely blunt and has no time for office small talk. He has a “do not disturb before 12pm” policy at work, and he doesn’t fraternise with the staff.

“Don’t talk so much. Don’t disturb me before noon, and make sure no one comes into my office unless my door is open. Which it never is.”

I thought the book had a great lighthearted and funny storyline to it, with good character development. You can’t help but fall in love Andrew and Sofia, especially when they interact with each other. The book is part of a series, but all the books in the series can be read as standalones, so you won’t have any problems following this story.

It’s an easy fun read with no major twists or turns, and one I’m happy to recommend to anyone who enjoys this kind of trope.

a serious jerk and the sassy woman who brings him to his knees

Sofia's come to London with a specific goal in mind. To that end, when her bestie and the woman allowing her to crash on her couch, gets fed up with her jerk of a boss and quits, Sofia asks if she'd mind if she tried to get hired for the job herself. Natalie tries to warn her that Andrew, said boss, is a lot, I mean A LOT, but to go for it if she thinks she can handle it. All Sofia knows is she has to handle it because that absurd salary the man pays to put up with his rudeness will go to very good use if Sofia can convince him to give her the job as his new assistant. She's a tough New Yorker, though, so she'll be fine. Right?

Andrew is befuddled. His new assistant has caused his intense focus to waver. For once, he's noticing her as something other than just the staff who assists him. Normally he could care less about the employees in his company. He doesn't notice them, nor does he care about them except for how well they do their jobs. But for some reason, the woman who finagled her way into being his new assistant has shook him. And he doesn't like it, not one bit. Still, he knows better than to mix business with, well, anything but business, so he'll have to just shove his newfound feelings deep inside and ignore them, ignore her, the way he's been doing. Easy. Right?

Oh God but this author is good! She can write the heck out of a serious jerk and the sassy woman who brings him to his knees. Andrew is truly cold like Natalie had said. But, thank God, that's not all he is, and Sofia is the only one who could bring the other side, the softer side, of him out. I loved them together, even though I wondered for awhile if they even liked each other. I knew they were attracted to each other, but genuine feelings are a whole other thing than just attraction. Once those feelings were hinted at, I was all in with these two and was cheering as they slowly made their way to their happy ever after. It took them awhile, a whole lot of silence, then lots of snark and sass, and of course, finally love, and I was smiling when I read the last page. Now I'm dying to get my hands on Andrew's friend Tristan's story when Mr. Notting Hill releases. These billionaire friends are all kinds of delicious when love hits them and knocks them on their rear ends!

The fifth book in the Mister series. Each book can standalone, but they do have characters that crossover into the other books.

Andrew. Rude, cold, grumpy and at times downright cranky. Ruthless when it comes to business. Honest to a fault. But totally and completely faithful to those he considers family. Prefers to keep his personal life completely separate from his business. Raised by strong women. Women he adored and respected. He’s bound and determined to set his grandmothers legacy right.
Sophia. Strong, independent, speaks her mind. Raised by her single mom. They struggled, but loved each other fiercely. She will do anything for her mother. Including moving to England to track down her long lost father. She needs him to fork over some of the money he should have given her mother to help raise his daughter. Her mother desperately needs surgery to be able to continue working.
I really liked Sophia. She plowed right into Andrews life and never gave him the option of turning her away. She new of his odd and quirky office behavior. She was as determined to stay as he was to send her away. She had broad shoulders, thick skin and a backbone of steel. She was laser focused on her goal.
Andrew I liked. For the most part. To me he was kinda weird. I understand keeping your personal life and business life separate, but he took it to a completely different level. Creating an entire new persona when he was out of the office. Introducing himself as “James” to Sophia when they meet at a bar. Never using his real name. It was odd.
Once he starts acknowledging her in the office, he realizes she’s smart, and her ideas have merit. He just might just have what he needs to win back his grandmother’s magazine. And lose his heart along the way.
A great addition to the series. Andrew is the fifth of his six chosen brothers to find his happy ever after.
A quick, easy read. Told from both points of view. Low angst and little drama. No cheating.
I’m looking forward to Tristian’s story.

This was a great addition to this series. I really enjoyed watching Andrew and Sofia navigate from boss/employee to something more. The build up was nicely paved as well. It didn't happen over night nor was this an insta-love situation.

Were there a few areas that I wished had been fleshed out more? Yes. However, waz it enough to make it so I didn't enjoy the story? Not in the least. I liked seeing the guys again during their get togethers.

It's an okay read, except.... the word "said". When a conversation between 3 or 4 characters is happening (especially in chapter 40) the writer really needed to explore another way to convey the word said, like "he added" "he conveyed" "he suggested" "he chimed in" "he spoke up" "he piped up" ... etc. The word said was used well over 300 times throughout the book, it was distracting and when listening to the audio book it was giving me a headache.

Refreshing Read

I truly enjoy this series.

Each book holds its own and never depends too much on the other. It’s refreshing to read a book where the writing is strong, the characters are fully developed, the drama is engaging but not over the top and the steamy scenes are entertaining.

Highly recommend!
