Another massive win from Emily/for us!

As expected, a beautifully written story with crystal clear descriptions that arent ridiculously flowery (thankfully) nor are they overused (she let out the breath she didn't know she was holding... Am I right?). As you can imagine, I'm not a big fan of long descriptions. I like action and lively diologue. But here Emily gives us LOL and heart breaking actions, superb diologue and descriptions that you've never read before and you wonder "how have these words never been used to describe this situation/characters/story before by another author?!".
Emily was good before. But here she's a genius! A master of her craft! Someone to aspire to be like (or just become friends with). She doesn't need to get any better than this, but if she does, that would be a lottery winning ticket to us readers/her bank account and all the people behind the scenes that make this happen and get paid to do so. Apologies for all the rambling. I'm just so in love with this book/these characters/the tears she made me cry/the HEA!
You probably read the blurb already, so now just jump right in. THIS is what 80% of the books should be like but aren't. Emily is magic!

Having said all this, I have a small warning for you (regarding the content): one of the characters suffers from Parentification (if you are a new mom you may have come across this on IG or else you may identify with this character and understand why you behave the way that you do). I'm not going to explain this here as I'm not a therapist and it's not my place (but I would suggest a quick search to understand it). Some people may find it slightly (psychologically) triggering. It is beautifully done and not just a gimmick.

Now buy it, stay up late reading it, cry over it and thank Emily later :)

Nora is a cutthroat literary agent, trying to mend the increasingly strained relationship with her sister. When they take a trip to the setting of her sister's favourite book, the last person she expects to (repeatedly) run into is her literary adversery, editor Charlie.

Admittedly, I struggled to warm to Nora in the opening chapters, and found those same chapters a little slow going. But from the second the sisters arrived in Sunshine Falls, I really warmed to her. By chapter nine I was totally invested and beginning to understand why Nora had become the woman she was now. Nora has lived her life putting herself last. It was heartbreaking reading about how she had been compartmentalising her feelings for so long.

I loved Charlie. In many ways he's like me. A stranger in his own family. He has the same dry sense of humour as Nora (and myself), and I found myself rooting for them almost immediately. Their banter was top tier: simultaneously hilarious with wicked sharp retorts but also hot as sin; and it always felt authentic (I have entire pages annotated). The chemistry was incredible. This is slow burn, enemies-to-lovers/soulmates done right. But more than that, this is a story of self-acceptance, and of sisterhood. I probably cried non-stop for the final ten chapters. That, for me, is the sign of a great book. Book Lovers is a story of two of them trying to find that perfect last page.

My first book by this author, I will definitely be catching up on Emily Henry's previous books!

A fun, charming and heartfelt read.

I really enjoyed the whole concept of this book. Nora and Charlie gives the reader a chance to get more of an insight into the publishing world and it was great to read. Nora even takes a trip to a small town where one of her client’s authors books are set! How many of us would love to be able to do just that? I have to say being tall, it was so refreshing to have a leading lady the same height as me in a book! High five to the author! Obviously it made me relate to Nora even more on that score.

There is a real bond between Nora and her sister which was endearing to read. I don’t have a sister but it made me wish I had one with how close these two are. Both sisters are very different in terms of what they want out of life and there are some ups and downs on their trip. Charlie makes a great love interest and boy, do things get more than a bit hot under the collar! The sparks between the two were leaping from the pages!

Book Lovers was a fun, charming and heartfelt read that had me wholly engaged. It’s light-hearted with some meaningful parts as well as plenty of zest. The title couldn’t be anymore suited as book lovers of this genre will adore the whole storyline. Can’t believe that this is my first book by the author and will definitely be checking out her others.

From this book lover to Book Lovers: to me, you are perfect. It is full of feeling and side splitting humour. It has loveable characters and a cosy small town vibe; all the better to get emotionally attached to. With every chapter flowing flawlessly into the next, and no shortage of themes, Book Lovers was exceptionally difficult to put down.

Henry writes beautifully about how life changes, never to be the same again; accepting the pain of that and embracing the hope of new memories and exciting adventures. At the heart of it all, is the bonds of family and what makes home, home.

Furthermore, the characterisation of Nora was impeccable. She’s a workaholic, struggles to become emotionally attached (in all of her ex-boyfriends opinions) and cares more for pragmatism instead of whimsical romance. Henry takes character traits typically reserved for a villain in the romance genre, and gives them the limelight in a very refreshing and satisfying spin.

As for the romance… Charlie and Nora’s chemistry sizzled off the page. They illustrated a very believable portrayal of an initial liking filled with banter and flirtation, into kindred spirits and love. They intellectually challenged each other and emotionally unravelled and supported the other, all of which provided fluffy feels, so many laughs and made me smile like the Cheshire Cat lord knows how many times. You know a romance delivers everything it ought to when the reader is left thinking: where’s MY Charlie Lastra????

All in all, Book Lovers delivers a perfect contemporary romance. It’s a humorous and emotional warm hug of a book. I thoroughly loved it.

Loved meeting Charlie and Nora and how books got them together their budding romance was cute and Libby the younger married mother of two pregnant with baby three wanted the best for her sister and the town was nice with Charlie's parents bookshop and cottage where the sisters were staying sounded good will reread again likes this authors books

I hate giving 1 star refuses so I'm being generous.
I read 100 pages and then sent it back for a refund. So I can't say if it's predictable but it's unrealistic, childish and irritating. Imagine sitting in a bar with a business acquaintance, a man you hardly know, with your knees between his! Imagine walking miles up and down hill in high heeled wedges.
I had a friend when I was 14 who aspired to be a writer and this was the kind of thing she wrote back then.
I expect much better from Penguin.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Penguin for approving me for an ARC of this book. I am a huge fan of Emily Henry’s work and could not wait to dive into her third novel.

What I have come to love about Emily Henry is the bookish content within her stories. Whether it’s a book shop, an author or an editor, we always have an element of a book theme pop up. This book goes one step further though and starts by slating the well known tropes of a small town romance story. The girl from the big city going to a small town and finding her one true love etc, etc, etc. You get the picture?

Our protagonist Nora is all too familiar with these tropes and it was hilarious seeing her trying (and failing) to avoid them on her holiday with Libby. The relationship between these two sister’s is beautiful and heart warming. You can see just how much they love each other and their heart to hearts often made me well up. How they both saw their childhood and their roles as they entered their adult life was very interesting and just showed the different experience they both had.

Of course this wouldn’t be a romance without a swoon worthy leading man to fantasise over. Charlie is so smooth it’s ridiculous. He’s smart, funny and extremely sexy. The chemistry between him and Nora was throw the roof, in fact the whole house was burning!

Every time I read one of Emily Henry’s books I don’t think she can possibly top it but this could quite possibly be my favourite of hers so far. It’s sexy, romantic, funny and emotional. This novel is a complete contradiction of the romance tropes it slated at the start but it works! There is a reason why we read books like this. To get swept up in the characters and their journey, you can’t help but fall in love with the small town tropes and even if you know where it will lead the journey getting there is so much fun!

I absolutely love the concept that this book about book lovers is read and enjoyed by people like my myself who love books. What could be more perfect!!

Once I got passed the first few chapters there was nothing I didn’t love about this story. As soon as Nora and Libby went on their travels, I found myself hooked and not wanting to put my kindle down. The characters, the settings, the storyline and all the different emotions that this story brought out in me are fabulous. I enjoyed it so much that I’ve already messaged some friends to grab this book and read it for themselves.

To me, I felt that this book followed two separate but interconnecting storylines. The first being the relationship between Nora and her sister Libby. The other being Nora’s role in the literary world which also relates to Charlie. Both I absolutely loved.

In many ways I envy the relationship that Nora and Libby share. Although they have experienced much heartache together, I loved how they are there for each other through the good times and the bad. Nora tries her very best to be everything to Libby. However, even with the best of intentions mistakes are made and there are errors of judgement, so for me the message about honesty and communication throughout this story was loud and clear. I adore their friendship. They made me laugh out loud so many times throughout this narrative, and they made me cry once or twice too.

Nora and Charlie’s interactions are a highlight of this story. I laughed, smiled and swooned constantly throughout this narrative. They truly are perfect for each other. I loved how easily they trusted and fell in love with each other. Their scenes together are incredible, and I’m certain you will feel the same way too.

I highly recommend Book Lovers to you to read. This story is filled with banter, humour and fun scenes - which I loved. There are also some more serious aspects to this story that I found to be emotional and thought-provoking. I award Book Lovers 5 stars. I can’t sing this story’s praises enough.

Emily has done it again!! I didn't think it was possible after my absolute favourite Beach Read and then You and Me On Vacation - but here we are
.
This had small town vibes which I absolutely love in a romance, so many laugh out loud moments (I laughed A LOT), so much depth and I was hooked in by all of it
.
I loved Nora, I defy anyone to not see just a little bit of themselves in her. Charlie - I am OBSESSED. The banter and conversations between these two were my favourite thing about this one with the friendships and relationships coming in at a close second
.
Did it beat Beach Read for me? I think it definitely joins it at the top spot
.
I could picture every single scene and interaction, I can definitely see this being a film and me being me I already have a cast and a soundtrack in my mind
.
If you have this on your summer TBR - bump it up, you won't regret it

Lovely storyline. Loved Nora and Charlie, Linby not so much. I found her selfish and ungrateful towards her sister. I like the way both girls interact with each other, the sisterly banter but it doesn't fit the fact that Libby doesn't know Nora at all, can't see her for who she is and how much she put on hold to be there for her... then all that was left unsaid, the omissions, the lies... that's what I did not like because I find that these don't have a place in a close knit relationship between sisters who get on and love each other dearly.

I really liked the relationship between Nora and Charlie, with Charlie being absolutely amazing. The romance, friendship, rivalry between them was phenomenal. I loved the way their love blossomed and how unconditional the love between them was, especially from Charlie. He really got her, understood her and saw her for who she was... someone had to! 😆
