I really liked seeing book 1 from the boys pov
Seth is adorable in his chapters and I enjoyed them and was interesting to see what was going through the boys minds
I was a little bored at parts but overall I really liked it and reminded me how much I loved the first book
It maintained that tension even though I knew what was coming

This series has become a guilty pleasure for me. This particular story offered great insight to the other side of the story for the first book. It really answers the questions surrounding the heir's actions and how strong the mate bonds were drawing the boys towards the twins. Now, I love Orion even more than before and I did not think that was possible.

The series is wonderful. It's Lively insightful and a lot of fun but the ending in book 8, it's terrible. It's an awful place to leave the characters, there are a few things tied up and left me feeling very unsatisfied. I was terribly disappointed

This series is one of the best I’ve ever read. The “twisted sisters” authors are amazing and I love their characters. I’ve never laughed so hard or cried so hard in any series.

My only downside is that this is a poor print. I originally read these on Kindle but decided to start collecting the physical books. This print is not great, the map being the worse part. You can barely make out anything. Too dark, and blurred like a poor photocopy.

Holy moly why did I wait so long to read this book! The twisted sisters gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. From inside jokes to cameos from people from later books I got all the serotonin from this book.

Getting to see the inner feelings of the boys as they met and trie to get rid of the girls was amazing. They fought harder than I realized. Knowing that Orion and Darius both felt the full to the twins made me happy and sad knowing what happens in later books.

I love the world the sisters created and I’m go excited to read more.

This was very nice addition to the Zodiac Academy series. It’s not an exact chapter by chapter replay of the first book, since they include “never before read” scenes with Darius and Lance. They don’t hold back on pulling on our heartstrings. It makes you question, “how far would you go for your family?” The stars of this are definitely Darius and Lance. I would recommend reading this right after the first book just so you get a complete picture of what’s going on in ZA. Surprisingly this only covers 2 weeks of time 🤯

slight spoilers
I’m alittle upset with myself that it took me this long to read the awakening told by the boys!

First thoughts:
Orion: I forgot how bitter Lance could be and how much I loved it. I loved how ruthless he could be as a professor- it was one of the reasons he faster became my favourite character.
Darius: the emotional turmoil that he goes through is a lot. I know that he was in a tough situation with his family dynamics and all the stress but how did he not see how he really felt about Tory?!? The authors really did a great job with laying that out.
Seth: reading this really made me dislike Seth all over again 😂 he was so incredibly cruel with the way he acted. For example atleast Darius and Caleb felt bad about treating the girls bad- Seth was just mad about not being able to participate in the moon stuff with his family.
Lionel: Ugh, awful- that’s all I really have to say

Gabriel and the crossover Easter eggs
I’m really happy that I read Ruthless boys because now I’m able to pick out the little snippets the sisters intertwine in to their books from the other series and it just makes them that much sweeter! Also now when Gabriel comes up in ZA I love him just that much more. I love the comments about the “snake” in funny hats and the Lion and vampire playing professional pitball- really made my heart happy.

I can’t remember what book exactly this happens in (I think book 2?) but I would love to see another book told by the boys perspectives for when Darcy and Orion have the pool scene. Also I think it would be great to have a book from the guys when the girls are playing all those pranks

It was so good to be back in this world. I do have to say that it was good to understand more from the boys their point of view, but their actions are still those of not nice people (to say it nicely)… I read this book after I read book 1-7 and I think that was a good moment, but it might be more interesting to read it earlier in the series. I liked Orion and his chapters best and I loved the moments between him and Gabriel. It was good to understand more about Darius, but I feel like he should have done something with what he was feeling, I felt he was so ignorant lol. Even though, I do understand why he did what he did, I still do not like it at all. I can’t wait for the last book in this series. If you read ZA and haven’t read this one yet, you definitely should. It really gives more background information on the boys.

I hate every single character that has a dangly appendage. Seriously none of these men have redeeming qualities. On MANY occasions I wanted to throw this book at the wall.

With that being said the plot has me in such a tight chokehold that I’ll stay frustrated at all the characters till the very end (which I hear is traumatic)

Read this book if you’re willing to hate everyone but love the story! 🤣

The Awaking As Told By The Boys is a retelling of book one in the Zodiac Academy series, told from the perspective of Orion, Darius, Seth, Caleb & Max. The account gives us a glimpse into why they treated the Vega twins the way they have, trying to drive them away from the academy and from claiming the Solarian throne. I don't typically enjoy retelling from other characters, but I did not mind the insight shared in this version. Do I think it is essential to read as part of the series? No, but if you want a deeper understanding of the boys, you will enjoy this version. I am rating this 4 / 5 Stars.
