I’m sorry… WHAT?!

Yeah.. totally did not see this couple coming.. like at all! This whole storyline blew me away. Lexi seems like she’s such a tough girl, and while that’s true, I am in love with her softer side, and her vulnerability makes her a fantastic character. Sterling was the wild card triplet because he kind of blended in compared to the other two, but he sure stood out in his book for sure. I love how far back Lexi and Sterling go, it was unexpected but in the best ways. These two really got each other. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and Mr. Silver did not disappoint. I wasn’t expecting the storyline with the dean to go where it did, but I think Rachel did a great job of navigating the whole situation. The chemistry was scorching hot, the banter was so fun, and the journey was an emotional one. I love how the crew is so tight knit, a true found family. The Golden Boys deserve all the HEA’s and the strong women showed them they needed to be worthy. Love this book and the whole series. I still need to know who Pandora is.. so off to the next book for more clues! Go start the series, I highly recommend it!

After a quick Catch Up on characters:

Having skipped “Pretty Boy D” purely because I dislike of Joss character (having read some reviews I’m kinda glad I did) appears that story went pretty much as I expected

But, I digress…

In this book the Golden triplets are dealing with the aftermath of their fathers criminal activities, & subsequent trial. It’s the talk of Cypress Pointe.

As for their personal lives -

West, & Blue are cosy together, & are particularly married.

Dane…Well, Dane finally got his virginal bestie Joss (the gushy pain in my a..) & now they can’t keep their hands off each other.

So, out of the Golden triplets, that only leaves football playing, Sterling.

It’s precisely because of his illicit relationship with his much older Godmother, Gina Harrison, that I wanted to read this book.

Gina is a predator of biblical proportion’s, though in the previous book I read, I wasn’t sure Sterling wasn’t a willing participant, Especially when the author/s pointed out what F boys Goldens were.
However, he was just fifteen when first approached, so, yeah, Predator.

I was curious to see where the authors were going to take this storyline.

However, the books main plot dealt mainly with Sterling being the “fake” boyfriend of Lexi Rodriguez.

An arrangement. In the beginning, benefiting both.

Gina? Well, She was the secondary storyline.
Along with Lexi’s ongoing anger at her bio father.

But, as we ALL know it wasn’t going to be long before “fake” slid all the way into the realms of reality.
With Lexi thinking -
“We should have had a ‘no catching feelings’ clause in our agreement “

No KIDDING!
Lexi has had a lady boner for S since they were both were fifteen.

It’s not long before their “fake” relationship becomes more with helped along the way when they “hand the reins over” to the gushy little matchmaking Joss…aargh!

Of course the path of ‘found’love for each other was never going to run smooth.
What with the authors chose to throw in -

One psycho ex co-worker - Cole

One crazy obsessive older women - Gina

AND, one hot, young, sweet Vet - Matt Logan (what a waste of a character he was. Only there to get Sterling jealous)

PLUS!
The nosey AF! ANNOYING AF !
Social Media gossip site - Pandora
( I MEAN this site had FBI standard intel, but overall
Pandora is an extremely annoying grab at the GosdipGirl genre)

Where Lexi is known as “Lost Angel”, Sterling as “Mr Silver”
And there couples name is (I kid you not) “ Sexi”
And sweet Matt is christened thegooddoctor

Just over half way into this book has Lexi pondering what these new circumstances in her life/relationship mean -
“Well, one thing’s for certain, I definitely can’t say my life’s gotten boring. And I sure as hell can’t say it’s predictable.”

Hmmm …You mean like, the rest of this story is starting to become?

I’m already way ahead of the authors, Knowing EXACTLY where Lexi, Sterling, Matt.
HELL!
Even COLE.’s characters are heading.

So.
When this “fake” couple head off to Lexi’s cousins birthday party where she will be forced to face her ex, who dumped her for her other cousin Elise.

We get the full bully romance experience.
Sterling coming through with his more than generous credit card to pay for…
You guessed it…
Car repairs ..I GOAN!
And!
A bodycon FU! dress.
Where we get this cheesy line from Joss as she hands over his credit card

“Actually, Sterling knew we were shopping today, so he gave me cash to cover whatever you picked out,”

Sterling is surprise at how Hot Lexi looks.
Sweet Jesus save me now at this obvious plot ‘go to ‘

The satisfaction of rubbing her NEW BF in the ex’s faces.spurs Lexi out of her comfort zone Followed by the ubiquitous dirty dancing, accompanied by a first time F in the back of Sterlings car, where this crazy two finally admit there IS something between them…Just not clothes…Anymore

It was a this point, once these two had “sealed the deal” knowing where things were headed that I began to lose interest,

“this was never supposed to happen.”- Lexi thinks
IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAPPEN!!! ..Duh!

And.

Is it just me, or is Benny Mendoza more needy, & in love with Sterling than Lexi?

I hated the cut due friend’s moments

Just when you think things can’t get anymore squirmily …

We get …The Barn, with Sterling trying to redeem his past behaviour.
Meanwhile I’m just sitting here thinking…

When’s crazy Gina going to pop up & ruin these two.?

Well, “pop up” she does.

As expected, causing these two to break up.

However, help comes to Sterling from an unexpected source.

The always ready to help - especially if it means having a “Golden” triplet in the family, - Benny, neutralising Gina pretty quickly with…A plan!.

This leaves Lexi to deal with the other big black whole in her life, her daddy issues.
But don’t worry because ITS STERLING TO THE RESCUE
90% Finished & I was OUT!
Not sticking around for the obvious HEA epilogue

#Mr. Silver is my new favorite in the Kings of Cypress Pointe series, and without a doubt, one of the top reads of 2021.

While this is a stand-alone, I believe it's best to read the series to fully appreciate it, as the dynamics of the Golden Crew play an important role in each couple's story.

Lexi is as sassy as they come; she doesn't take anything from anyone; she's got a fire burning inside her; her personality may be fiery, but her heart and emotions are on ice. She has a group of friends she adores, but she keeps them at a safe distance, never allowing them to see too much of her, to avoid any further pain. She's already been dealt more than her fair share, and one of those times was by none other than #Mr. Silver.

Sterling carries himself with a cockiness that seems to have been ingrained in the Golden Boys from birth, but he's so much more than that. For years, he'd been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, and not being able to share it with his brothers was wearing on him. He had his sights set on the prize, did everything he could to protect his family, and put everything he had into football. He hadn't expected to find what his brother had, let alone with the girl who had despised him for years.

When Sterling and Lexi were near each other, you could feel the animosity that surrounded them. But it was the connection between them that filled every page with palpable energy that they couldn't deny, no matter how hard they tried. Once they were able to let go of their animosity from the past, everything between them became as natural as breathing; they had this ability to read each other that made every feeling between them that much more tangible.

This story had an unexpected level of emotion for me, or maybe it was because aspects of Lexi's feelings were personal to me. I recognized some of my own fears in hers. The fears we try our best to keep locked away, never allowing anyone to see the brokenness inside that prevents us from letting anyone fully in, all while subconsciously hoping maybe someone will see it and find a way through our barriers and prove to us that our fears are unfounded.

Jonas and Thorne have created a world that will keep you glued to the pages, absorbing the words like you need them to live; a Gossip Girl type drama that is nothing short of addictive, emotions that will wrap their way around your heart, and characters that will embed themselves in your soul.

#Mr. Silver is an addictively all-consuming blend of a tangible connection, a possessive alpha, a fiery heroine, scathing looks and snarky retorts, secrets revealed, drama like only Cypress Pointe can deliver, emotionally gripping, fervid levels of steam, and a group of friends who transitioned from a crew to their own family.

I give 4.5 stars which are rounded up to 5.
I have no spoilers here but you should read the previous 4 books to understand more or to understand something at all.

I didnt know what to expect when I started reading Mr Silver. Sterling as well and Lexie seemed like an odd couple. There were not many interactions between them before and Sterling was still a quite plain one in the books of his brothers. It always seemed that Sterlin was a minor character, just one of the triplets. Lexie was Blues best friend, loyal and sometimes rule breaking.
So, I was curious how that book will be cause tbh my first reaction that these two are in this book was "really!?"
At the end it was so much more than that. Rachel Jonas & Nikke Thorne did not just only pulled it off, they made it absolutely believable and probably one of the best couples in this series.
It took the first 4 chapters and I was absolutely convinced that these 2 need to be together.

So, what is happening in this book. Sterling is in his usual escapade with the Dean. Lexie was just fired again. To be off the hook they strike an odd deal, to mimic a relationship for Cypress pointe. Having to fake a relationship when you absolute hate your fake boyfriend/girlfriend is not easy. Selling it to the public and Pandora is not easy aswell.
But the moments these 2 are letting their walls down and just be honest to each other... I fell in love with this couple again.
Slowly the characters change, they grow, become responsible. They are brave to confront their demons and let their walls fall.
Benny is probably one of the best characters in this book. He is a caring loving father who just shows that blood is sometimes not thicker than water. Having just lost a father like this to cancer, made me wish that these characters are the norm. We need more caring dads who actively engage in their children's lives.

I decided to give 4.5 stars because I think that the last 15% of the book needed something more. Some extra pages, an extra narrative, extra statement. It wasnt rushed at the end, I just felt that one or 2 more discussions might have been nice. But this is complaining on a high level and I would definetely recommend the books.

I really loved this book, fake relationships are the best. It was a powerful story with lots of depth and character and an all to real situation. The book was done to perfection. Please read, you won't be disappointed.

This book was an amazing read, its one of those books you have such a hard time putting down. Even though this is a standalone I do suggest you read each book from the series. That way you have more background on what is going on. Either way you read it, I definitely recommend!

Finally after Pretty Boy D we have the story of Lexi and Sterling.
You don't have to read the predecessors in this series but I this highly recommended that you do. Otherwise some characters and conversations may be confusing. We are still awaiting the trial of the triplets father to begin, Sterling is found in a compromising position and Lexi is having to deal with being thought of as a lost cause by her stepfather.
The prologue shows these two have history going back to when they are 15 years old, which sets the scene for our enemies to fake relationship story.
In the previous Golden series of West and Blue we are given 3 books to gain a detailed understanding of what is going on and see their relationship form. I must admit having Pretty Boy D and Mr Silver wrap up in 1 book each almost feels too short a story. A lot of the characters start to feel a bit 1 dimensional here as we rush through to the end. Previously Sterling came across as a bit of a man whore and playboy with no real depth, in this book we see a more caring and serious side to him. I would have like to have seen us go back into the past and flesh more detail of the relationship between him and the Dean Gail Henderson, some of this comes out in the end but it felt a bit rushed.
Lexi has to come to terms with abandonment issues that has plagued her life, she is a hard nut and takes no prisoners when backed into a corner. Just the type of woman that Sterling needs. Outside of their relationship the story between the Golden's and the Ruiez is on going but still not detailed here, we get snippets with Dez and her father still working on cases but not to the extent we've had in past books. We are given a snippet of what is to come with SexyBeAst but it now departs from the Golden Crew. But hopefully not as he is wrapped up in the trial of the triplets father as well.
It was disappointing not to hear more of Scar or the 5 boys from down south but that may be another story for another day.
