4,5 le récit a des personnages très surprenants, et j’ai suivi avec beaucoup d’empathie parfois, le personnage Robert, qui est prisonnier de son passé de stripteaser qu’il a fait pour ses études de lois et pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille car son frère est dans un établissement spécialisé, puis qui se retrouve sous le joug d’une mère maquerelle qui le tient encore par ce qu’elle sait des choses sur ce passé, même lorsqu’il est enfin avocat. Ce lourd passé l’empêche d’avoir qui il veut le plus, Skylar car il ne peut lui révéler ce qui lui arrive.
Leur histoire est émouvante, forte, l’histoire a des passages torrides, mais surtout, j’ai passé mon temps à me demander comment Robert allait sen sortir. Le seul point qui m’a agacé, ce sont les allers-retours avec le passé.

OMG! I was so ecstatic when I read these words. (“You hide your evil pretty well, Tiff. I’d be impressed at your acting skills if I wasn’t so grossed out by you.” Get the ? Out of my house.) More power to Skylar for defending her man even though she was hurting so badly by berayal. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Just tells us not to keep secrets. But understand Robert a bit ashamed of what he did to make money. Tiffany got what she deserved. Would like more stories of Southport please!

The blurb was a lie

If you read the blurb of the book and expected a second chance romance, unplanned pregnancy, and female and male protagonist working together and he is her boss…Then this is NOT that book. Again the blurb is a lie and it bugs me when authors do that. If you misrepresent your work from the beginning then you best have a good story and plot to keep me interested.

This story was meh…Robert’s secret/mystery was what intrigued me in the other books in the series and I was looking forward to reading more about him and skylar. But you legit find out his secret in the prologue. Sure I was shocked at first but then story held no tension other than him trying to find a way to tell skylar. And when she does find out she is kind of like sure I get it, but you lied to me and how can I trust you? Legit valid concerns but she turns around and takes him back easily without him really not doing anything to grovel and show that he can be trusted again. It’s just tied up in a nice bow.

Also going back to the blurb on the book. They technically worked together briefly in the past but he was more of a client for her web design company. He never left her, sure he left her heartbroken but all the times they broke up she was the one that initiated it. Also it wasn’t years ago that they broke up and met up again. They briefly dated and broke up and got back together months later, not years as indicated in the blurb. No unexpected pregnancy. I was disappointed in this book.

It's said to watch out for the quiet one's and OH BOY does Sarah J. Brooks prove that in this book!!! I've been waiting for Rob and Skylar's story from the beginning. Rob is the quiet, reclusive and mysterious partner at the law firm and makes you wander what he's hiding. Skylar is that friend that sticks to the shadows and seems untouchable but is always in your corner when you need her. Something has happened between them but it's done and they are not talking about it. Throughout this story we delve into their past to find what is hidden and what is in plain sight that has made them into the not so trusting souls they are. Rob has been taking care of his mom and older brother that has special needs since college and keeping his personal life separate from the professional one is about to explode. Skylar didn't grow up with loving parents and their narcissistic personalities definitely had an impact on the blueprints of her life. When Skylar and Rob connected it almost seemed too good to be true. She confided in him, trust was beginning and it became clear to her that she got nothing in return, except some explicit memories. How can Rob confess his secrets to anyone about his other life...especially Skylar?? That choice is taken when his past moves to town and decides she wants him back. Is all for nothing?? Will his friends look at him in awe or disgust... most importantly, how will Skylar look at him??? Talk about sweet hell!!! This book has it ALL!!! Love catching up with the gang and meeting new people. Hoping to hear more from Brad and Hannah at Sweet Lila's!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and happily purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Thank you Sarah J Brooks for another hot favorite!!

Secrets, Trust, Friendship, Love, and Romance

I love this book and the whole Southport Love Stories series! This book is all about secrets, trust issues, friendship, love, and romance. The problem is that the first two, secrets and trust issues, can really get in the way of the last two, love and romance. Has Robert lost his chance with Skylar? Robert has lots of secrets, and it is a really "big" secret. Can Skylar overcome her trust issues? It is a great story, that will keep you reading and reading. You do not have to have read the other books in this series to totally enjoy this one, but if you have read them, it is great to get an update on the others. I very highly recommend this book and this series.

Skylar and Robert have been struggling to come together. When they finally find their way back to each other things from Robert's past come into play. Skylar isn't the best when it comes to people lying to her even if its by omission. Robert has been keeping some things from his past from her however when it comes to town he has no choice but to deal with it. Is his relationship with Skylar strong enough to survive it? Will she forgive him the secrets he kept?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Sky has learnt the hard way the consequences that trusting the wrong person can do to your heart. She may be attracted to Rob but when she feels he has secrets that he isn’t willing to share she decides that distancing herself from him is the only option but that is easier said than done.

Rob has a complicated past of his own but there is nothing he won’t do to protect those he cares the most about. He has worked hard to keep his past private as the consequences of not doing so could be dire but when his past becomes his present will he be able to open up and trust Sky with the trust?

If anyone deserves a happy ever after it is Sky and Rob and although it wasn’t without its obstacles the ending made it all worthwhile.
