I can't say how freaking excited I'm to read a modern pirate story. This one had flavours of dark, going into the unknown, some twisted romance and a ocean that can be as life giving as dangerous and together with a band of pirates that have secrets they don't care to share.

Ashley is out on the yacht on a holiday with her boyfriend. She's the modern day heiress what with being the only daughter of a teach tycoon.
Even though it seems like her life is perfect but internally she isn't really happy nor with the man who she calls her boyfriend and as well as her so called friends and even the life she has.
She feels that yearning of wanting more from life.

What she never saw coming was having to survive on her own in the choppy waters and being rescued by a mysterious handsome stranger.

She needs her freedom and on deck even though the crew is good to her and Poseidon, her mysterious handsome stranger might be hot and cold but also seems to be wanting her and her life to be safe, yet she wants to be free and go back to her life.

I was so into this one, the writing made me feel as if I was actually on a huge vessel surrounded by waters on all sides. I could why Ashley feels that pull to Poseidon yet doesn't want to dive into it completely.

Poseidon might be wanting to keep her safe but my my when he does let out his animalistic urges out, oh my, Ashley didn't stand a chance at all. And Poseidon is definitely the Sexiest pirate I've read till now.

That ending has me all scared. Especially with all the twists that were coming left and right and then that ending just left me wanting more. Loved this one.💕💕💕

Ashley, a rich girl on vacation with her boyfriend… Poseidon, the God of the sea. After Ashley’s boyfriend is murdered and Ashley escapes, she is found by Poseidon who decides this could be a huge payday. His asking price is outrageous but will daddy pay?! I didn’t know what I was stepping into when I began reading. It was recommended and what an awesome recommendation it was. This is my kind of read. It has some triggers.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles Five deep blue stars! A captive / captor romance deep in twists and mythology…

Wow, what did I just read? Was it mythology, a pirate romance or a captive-captor romance? It was the blend of the three in one bomb of a romance! My head is spinning around, my heart is in my throat and everything is just ruined! I don’t know how Amelia Wilde can destroy me with this book. It was like The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea was written only for me because it had everything I LOVE and OBSESS over. Also this was my first modern-day pirate themed book and oh lord! This was so HOT! There is no doubt that Amelia Wilde creates the best book boyfriends and Poseidon is not the exception. He is calculating, cruel and ruthless. Danger sleeps in his eyes. Passion runs inside his veins. Darkness lurks in his soul. He will keep you on his ship and in his bed…

Keeping all above in mind, please allow me to express all the things I loved about this book. The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is a modern dark twist to Greek mythology. Told in dual POVs so we don’t miss anything. It is an EPIC romance that it is just impossible to praise with words. Action. Suspense. Romance. Steam. Danger. All came just right. Plus Amelia’s brilliant writing makes this book really worth it.

It started on a secret vacation and it ended on a pirate ship. We meet rich girl socialite Ashley who was on holiday with her boyfriend on his yacht. When he’s killed by drug dealers, she jumps into the sea to save her life. Only to be rescued by the devil of the sea, aka Poseidon. The gorgeous and dangerous pirate. The man who doesn't care about society and its rules. Who is violent, ruthless and oh so bad for her. But is he the worst?

Poseidon is intrigued for the fiery beauty he saved, who is she? That’s something he will discover and when he found out who Ashley is, he will keep her because she would make a lucrative hostage. He is fascinated with her light and that may cost them. They have this explosive love-hate dynamics that's just too exquisite. Poseidon is corrupting her, hurting her and breaking her. Yet he cannot let her go and she cannot help but want him. The storyline is provoking. Pure madness. I couldn’t throw my kindle because it was already broken and this time I wouldn’t dare to throw my cell phone, I yelled and cursed for that cliffy ending. I am reading the next book in this complete trilogy right away!

4,0 sur 5 étoiles Does no one just write a single really good book?

As much as I truly liked this book I am so mad that I did not read anywhere that this is not only NOT a single story, it is in fact a trilogy. I really liked this author so I was going through her books and was under the impression this was a single story book. NO! There are parts that seemed to stall to me, but it may have just been me. But as soon as the pace picked up, it ended. I really believe that in the summary for a book it should say that it is a series or trilogy right from the start. I thought I had done my due diligence, not one review told me it continued in not only one more book but two. Yes, I am ranting about it being a cliffhanger and not really reviewing the book, too bad I am mad. I am not one who can spend hours reading and then just say oh well forget it not gonna read anymore. Guess the author got me on this one.

Ashley Donnelly is on a secret vacation with her boyfriend when her live is turned upside down.
He tried to make a deal with some shady people in the middle of the ocean and ended up giving up much more than he planned. Those people then hijack his yacht and Ashley fearing for her life jumps into the deep blue sea to save herself.

Hours later, barely hanging on, she is rescued by Poseidon. A dark and ruthless pirate who loves the ocean more than anything. He can't decide what he wants to do with her, but after finding out her true identity he realizes he can utilize her more alive than dead. He is ruthless and one you don't want to cross.

Could she have just escaped one devil to fall into the hands of yet another one.
I wasn't quite sure how this story was going to play out in the start of the book, but I'm really liking how it's picked up speed toward the middle and even more so at the end.
I started falling for Poseidon, but as the book progressed the anti hero in him started to shine and make waves. My heart hurt for Ashley towards the end. After starting to truly care for her captor she now hates him and I don't blame her.

I can't wait to continue on with their story!

5,0 sur 5 étoiles A dark provocative read
Commenté aux États-Unis 🇺🇸 le 13 février 2022

Poseidon and Ashley's story is a very dark read with scenes of violence and torture. It's not for everyone due to some of the triggers, but......if you hang in there and read the entire trilogy; you won't be disappointed. It's addictive and alluring and is one of those trilogies that is hard to put down. The author does such a great job of painting vivid pictures as Poseidon and Ashley traverse the dangerous ocean waters. It's the final story in the Hades and Persephone saga. I loved that Poseidon was a character that I "loved to hate" throughout the trilogy only to see his character change from a murderous villian to a character that not only finds love with Ashley, but finds a reason to be a better man.

Ashley is a strong young woman who must face the truth about her father, her childhood, and her mother; and come to terms with Poseidon's character. He is a difficult character to understand at times, who is often conflicted by his actions while warring with his own inner demons. He is obsessed with finding his mother, or at the very least; to find out what happened to her so many years ago.

It's a slow burn love story which initially begins as nothing more than a "sex and lust" trope. Ashley and Poseidon's love story begins slow but then bursts into an intensity which engulfs each of them. It's a thrilling read that will keep you up well past your bedtime.

The final book in the series bring all three brothers together to fight for their survival, and to fight for the women that have done the impossible by bringing them a love that they are willing to die for. A great series!

I said no one could surpass Hades. Then I met Zeus. I then said no one could surpass him. I should have known better than to even issue that challenge because Poseidon just put those two men to shame. Each book in this modern retelling of mythological characters is even better than the last time, and I am not just talking about the characters themselves but rather the fact that the storyline itself seems to have gotten better.

This book has all the suspense and mystery that the first series had but, for some reason, this one felt different. There was more depth in the story itself. The details elicited emotions and had me nervous about the outcome. The book starts out with a bang and what I thought was happening was not at all what I thought. I liked that the author was able to do this and keep me guessing as to what the true motivations were behind the character. I felt the palpable fear of Ashley or even her excitement in other cases. Poseidon, good lord, this delicious man. Modern-day pirate? ALL the YESSES. Why isn't this done more? It gives the whole capture a captive new meaning.

Hands down my favorite that this author has written. It ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger and I need part two of this trilogy ASAP.
