Erotica lovers, with Heartless, the first book of Jade West's new series, Starcrossed Lovers Trilogy, you're in for a not-so-sweet treat!
The passion between Lucian and Elaine will ignite your kindles when those enemies can't seem to stay away from one another. It is hot, scorching hot, thrilling and dangerous.
But there also is more to the book than the sex. The characters are well developed, I could only feel Elaine's anguish and need for pain and self-destruction.
Lucian's hate for everything Constantine related, mixed with his protectiveness contributed for the tension I particularly enjoyed in their relationship.
I'm definitely intrigued to know more about them and I can't wait to see the outcome of this series. I only wished we would have had more backstory about both the Morelli and Constantine families. More details about their activities and how they became mortal enemies would have considerably, and agreeably fleshed out a plot that remained nonethlesss enticing.

Un premier tome qui commence doucement et qui surprend par la suite. Elaine et Lucian forme un duo improbable . Leur relation est impossible mais l'attirance est trop forte . C'est sombre, captivant et intense. On n'a pas envie de fermer ce livre lorsqu'il se termine ... Vivement la suite !
A first book which begins slowly and which surprises thereafter. Elaine and Lucian form an unlikely duo. Their relationship is impossible but the attraction is too strong. It's dark, captivating and intense. We don't want to close this book when it ends ... Can't wait for more!

I am a super fan of the warring Morelli and Constantine families but I have yet to even skim the surface on all the stories that have already been published because my obsession came late in the game! I’ve been playing catch up since I began and I’m pretty sure I’ll be playing catch up until the end of time! LOL These two families are the main focus of the Midnight Dynasty universe and both their family tress have numerous branches. Lucky for me, most of the stories can be read in any order, as long as you don’t mind very mild occasional spoilers to previous stories. It’s a convoluted world, so I don’t mind one bit, which is how I find myself finally experiencing Lucian Morelli & Elaine Constantine’s journey thanks to Valentine PR! But I digress LOL let’s chat about Heartless!!

Sadist meet Masochist … let the dark, scorching hot, obsessive is an understatement, games begin! This is going to be a twisted and depraved journey until the very end. I mean what else would one expect from Jade West? amirite?!

Lucian Morelli is a guy easy to dislike if you look just at the surface. Elaine Constantine is a chic easily dismissible if you just look superficially. Those are façades for both of them and Heartless was an introduction and build-up of who they really are and what might be coming in their journey. I already know to expect the unexpected and to also be prepared for depravity and savagery because that’s what I know the Constantines and Morellis are capable of but I also glimpsed a whole lot of light and hope in this story which I am hoping will explode in a burst of blinding light when Lucian and Elaine get to the ”sweet spot” in their journey!

I experienced this story via audiobook, narrated by Tor Thom & Desireé Ketchum and they both made my experience that much more captivating and enthralling with their narrations. They are both very talented narrators and played their parts astonishingly well! Well done!!

Heartless, an Audiobook by Jade West, is book 1 in the Starcrossed Lovers trilogy. It follows Lucien and Elaine. She has a dark secret. A secret that no one can know or understand. Lucien sees her and falls immediately. He has his own dark, twisted needs. Now, he wants her. But, their families are warring and hate each other. So, there can never be anything between them….This story was excellent!!! Ends in a cliffhanger! Can’t wait for part 2!!

This Audiobook was narrated by Tor Thom and Desiree Ketchum. Both of them did admirable jobs performing this material. The only downside of their performances is that they both pronounced the name Lucien differently. Since Lucien is a main character, I think they should have commiserated on ensuring that they are in synch on the primary characters’ names. Otherwise, their performances were excellent, with spot on interpretations!

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Listener Copy of this Audiobook.

I’m back in the Midnight Dynasty world and boy does it feel good. I have no clue why it’s taking me this long to start the game. Literally I think it’s been on my TBR since it came out. But there’s no time like the present. Have I ever told you how much I LOVE the Morelli family?! But I do. So very much. I don’t know what it is about all of them they’re like catnip, so addictive. Lucian Morelli and Elaine Constantine are two people filled with deep deep pain and I really feel for them, especially Elaine. Both families despise one another and no matter how hard Lucian and Elaine try to fight off any and all feelings they might have, they can seem to stay away or stop obsessing over each other. I’m going to see where things in book two and three. Something is bound to rip my heart out for sure!

Another unputdownable book in the Midnight Dynasty world! This one is just as deliciously dark as the others I’ve read. I was intrigued by Lucian ever since meeting him in the Cinderella trilogy, and he doesn’t disappoint!
Elaine has a tragic and mysterious past, which I already knew something about from books by other authors. This is just the first in the trilogy, so in this book we find out some, but not all of what happened years ago.
I enjoyed this novel, but some of the plot points felt a little off. Lucian says he needs a wife, but immediately forgets about it once he sets his sights on Elaine, though he does mention a few times that he plans to wife her. How is that going to work exactly? For a businessman, he sure doesn’t spend a lot of time strategizing (which I’d come to expect after reading Winston Constantine’s trilogy, where the book actually describes his machinations). I can’t imagine an arranged marriage where the two protagonists AND their families hate each other!
Despite this and a few other little plot inconsistencies, I just devoured this book!

This is an intriguing story with characters that both need a makeover. They are anything but normal due to their pasts and the enemy families they belong to. They choose to defy their families, much like Romeo and Juliette, except so far they are both alive. For now. I must read the next book to see if love smooths out some of their rough edges and darkness.

Heartless by Jade West is an enemies-to-lovers romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Desiree Ketchum and Tor Thom. This is the first book in the Starcrossed Lovers Trilogy.

This is the first book of Jade's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed getting Lucian and Elaine's points of views throughout the book. If I am honest, I didn't connect with either character. But overall, I liked the story and will continue the series to see how it progresses.

Desiree and Tor did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, enemies-to-lovers romances, or contemporary romances.

This was a quick, easy audio read but unfortunately this story fell a bit flat for me. I really liked the premise of the story, and I’m a big fan of super dark romance, but I just couldn’t connect with these characters. I didn’t feel any chemistry between them and the FMC comes off as a bit desperate. I’m very picky about MCs though, so there’s that. But the story overall was ok.
