Jade West did it again!

I never had a problem to start reading a novel just hours after I finished another, completely different one. But this time, I do. I read Heartless yesterday. And I am lucky. Soulless is to be released in 2 days so I only have to wait until then- because I am unable and completely unwilling to invest emotionally in any other world, other than Lucian's and Elaine's, when I know they are returning in just two days.

That's how good Jade West is. That's how insanely dark, raw and twisted the scorching emotions of Lucian and Elaine feel. That's how much this story branded me- with basically nothing substantial. Just the magnificence of Jade West's ability to immerse the reader in whichever imaginary world she puts her heart into.

But I have to be honest. Cliff hangers are increasing, these days. And they occur in stories that are not sufficient to become novels. Yes, three hundred and something pages (or less, which is usually the norm in erotic/love novels) do constitute a book but not when sentences are put alone in supposed paragraphs over and over, to the point that a page contains less than 100 words - and not with font sizes that borderline to preposterous, because when you get down to it, the three hundred page novel in word format and a descent 12 size font, becomes a 30 page text- and that cannot be considered a novel by any standards.

Of course, this is not something to be held against this particular writer. It happens a lot. Most writers do it, either because most readers prefer these kinds of novels to be short or because this is the new norm. But this is not a good norm.

I want to read a book.

And I love the book I am reading.

See? I just filled half a page with just three sentences. And this, for me, is cheating when I see it in a book that I am paying for- and it becomes a constant throughout. A book should have a descent size, to allow the reader time and effort in order to invest psychologically and emotionally in the story and the characters. But Jade West, is a master of words and she can immerse you in her stories with very little. And that, my friends, is true craftmanship. Hence the 5 stars from me.

Wild story, fast reading to keep up with the players in this story. Jumping back and forward between Lucian and Lainey. Lucian started out wanting a wife, so the board of the company he partly owned would make him the head off. As things gotten so steamy and stormy between the two, wild crazy thinking that he could take her and do wicked things to her body and make her his, anyways that was plan! They lived in a families of crime. Two powerful families who hated each other. He wanted her more than anything, even it was against his family! The chemistry for each other was high on the list for everyone who wanted to see. Lucian didn't care he wanted her and to break her to be his!!!! Ugly truth be told in this story of sex and passion! Cliffhanger. Enjoy!!!

What the WHAT did I just read! I’m in utter shock and what does is say about me that I am totally hot for Lucian and all his psychotic crazy.

Lucian Morrelli is a wrecking ball of epic proportions. Like I didn’t realize one man could be such an evil! Completely ruthless and doesn’t apologize for it, he owns every bit of the crazy he is! He turns completely obsessed with Elaine and I absolutely love a dark dirty romance with an obsessive man!

Elaine is on the hot mess express train and the screw up of the Constantine family or so that’s what your lead to believe. Elaine is such a complex charter that you don’t actually know the real her. You get some bits a pieces but you are still left wondering.

Lucian loves to dish out the pain and Elaine loves to take it and she wants all of it. Lucian’s darkness that feeds her darkness. There is definitely way more to each of these characters than meets the eye and I can’t wait to diver deeper into them.

Jade could not have written a more dark and twisted romance. Heartless was absolutely hot, dirty, dark and twisted a In all the right ways! Heartless was perfect and book 2 cannot get in my hands fast enough. There are some triggers in this book so if you have any at all I would definitely read through some of the reviews before proceeding.

This is a dark read that has a lot of filth. (Though if you are familiar with this author, you know it's what she does best.) It is book one of a trilogy and the story does not end with this book. It doesn't really end with a cliffhanger, but it is open ended. He's a monster who loves to cause pain. He takes what he wants when he wants it. And currently, he wants her. He wants to destroy her. She is the outcast daughter from the family whom is his families enemy number one. Hatfields & McCoys... only dirtier and deadlier. He pushes his luck hunting her down. If either of their families find out they were in contact of any kind, it means death, for both of them. She is drugged out most of the time. It's the only thing that keeps the demons away. She has many secrets (some of which slowly start to be revealed.) If you had any doubt, there is sexual content (as this book pretty much revolves around it,) and it is not the sweet romantic kind. It is raw and rough and dirty. There are some situations that may be hard to read for some readers and may be triggers for some. It is most definitely suitable for mature readers. It alternates POVs.

Ok I don't smoke but damn after reading this one I feel like a need a stiff drink and cigarette. This was my first read from this author and it left me wanting more.

Elaine and Lucian are not suppose to breathe the same air as their families despise one another. Lucian was trying to find a way to infiltrate the Constantine compound to stalk his prey. Little did he know that plan would go out the door as soon as he see's the goddess in gold. Elaine just wanted to get through the ball and away from the family she was born into but wanted nothing to do with.

When these 2 meet finally it is like a nuclear explosion and no one is safe. The chemistry is off the charts and both know them hooking up will be the end of both of them. Having something you can't or should not have just makes it all the more intriguing. I ABSOLUTELY loved this kind of forbidden romance.

I can't wait for the next installment of Lucian and Elaine to see what kind of mischief these two cause because no one's heart will be safe from the fallout if these two team up. They will be unstoppable.

This is something totally different by Ms West and I lapped up every word. Dark, powerfully gritty and full of mystery.

Elaine Constantine is the black sheep of her family. An addict, she is forever bringing shame upon her family. She is on a downward spiral and with death threats beating at her door and glimpses of a horrific past, my heart broke for her. She was so fragile, had no one fighting her corner and then Lucian steps into her path, the danger and fear just triples.

Lucian Morelli is the ultimate bad guy, totally unlikeable, with his thoughts and actions. His intentions are despicable and the chemistry between him and Elaine is purely nuclear! Sworn enemies, he stalks Elaine like a hunter would it’s prey and his obsession pulsates throughout the book. It’s total madness, pure darkness at times and so much intrigue, I just couldn’t put this story down.

With so many tantalising threads of the story to be revealed, I’m now itching to get my hands on the next book.

I was absolutely riveted by this dark sexy book. Lucien Morelli is such a great antihero, he’s sadistic, ruthless, heartless and sex on legs but his one weakness is the lost ‘little girl’ rich princess that is Elaine. She has her demons and tries to cope with drugs and alcohol. Talk about star crossed lovers, the potent mix of hatred intermingled with scorching off the scale lust and could it possibly ever be love? It’s like an X rated version of Romeo and Juliet! Their story captured me in its intoxicating grasp and as usual was written in the authors unique addictive style. My one question is how on earth am I going to survive until the next instalment is published in December?! Five glorious dark as hades stars once again for the Queen of Erotica

So, these two, Lucian and Elaine, are truly meant for each other. I’m not sure if there is something wrong with me that I enjoyed their form of crazy, but I did. Their lives have not been easy, as most would assume, given their wealth and notoriety. For the most part, their pasts of a train wreck. Be forewarned, this is not a complete story. It is a trilogy, so buckle up and dive in. Onto Soulless.
