**This is book 4 of a larger series. Although can be read as a standalone, I strongly suggest that you read the previous 3 books (Brutal Prince, Stolen Heir, Savage Love) as your reading experience will be so much better**

Dante Gallo... eldest son of the Gallo Italian Mafia family. He’s always been there, in the background, smouldering and intimidating with his intense glares and deep, growling voice. Surely there’s no way that someone so dark, brooding and roguish could have a soft and loving side! Right? Most definitely wrong.

We know through the previous books in the series that Dante has had his heart broken in the past which has inevitably created this unapproachable and standoffish man. Now, in this fabulous second chance romance story, we find out what happened to him, and why he has chosen to lock his heart away.

It tells us how a young Dante falls in love with the beautiful Simone Solomon after a chance encounter throws them together in the most bizarre way. Simone, a stunningly beautiful young girl is alone and crying. She realises that her life will never be her own. Her controlling father will always pull the strings. No matter whether it’s what she wants, if her father doesn’t agree, it’s not going to happen.

Just as she’s preparing to leave her vehicle, a dark, dangerous looking young man dives into the empty drivers and speeds away with her in the back of the car. Instead of being scared and fearful, she takes the opportunity to pour her heart out. He’s a stranger... what harm can it do. She’s not afraid that he’ll hurt her. She can see the concern for her in his face. Surprisingly, he’s warm and caring despite his admission of not being exactly the most upstanding citizen.

As Simone bids Dante goodbye she kisses him. Dazed and surprised Dante is mesmerised. From that moment, he can’t forget her. There’s something between them he’s never felt before.

Simone is equally affected and despite the warnings of her older and sickly sister, Serwa she defies her family and starts sneaking out to be with him. Their relationship is beautiful, deep and sensual. They are so well matched that they just fit together... but there’s one problem. There’s no way Simone’s father will accept Dante. He’s Mafia. He’s effectively a criminal and therefore not good enough to date his daughter, which he makes very clear.

Still determined to be together, Simone arranges to meet Dante to tell him her latest news... but he’s attacked on the way to meet her, turning up bloodied and battered. Scared and fearful she runs away. Even as Dante tells her he loves her she flees and leaves for London with her sister.

Broken, lost and utterly distraught, Dante vows never to love again. It was only ever her. There will never be anyone else.

But Simone has a huge secret she’s hiding... the real reason she’s run away.

9 years later Simone is a top model, jetting around the world. She’s on every billboard, magazines cover and tv show. Dante is tortured with every image. No one has ever come close to replacing her in his heart and never will. Likewise Simone has flitted between meaningless relationships: Dante ruined the prospect of love for her. She loves him. Always will, especially with the strong and lasting reminder that she walked away with.

By a cruel twist of fate, Simone ends up back in Chicago. She attends a rally with her father... the same rally that Dante has been asked to provide security for. Of course, it’s obvious that these two aren’t going to be able to avoid each other... but their first eye contact is frosty. Dante is in shock. All those feelings come racing back, but he’s so angry at losing her, he is frozen with emotion. But when a sniper targets the stage, metres from Simone, Dante flies into action. Even then, he’s cold towards her. Has she lost him forever because of her selfishness?

Of course she hasn’t, it’s a second chance romance... so when they do finally get back together it’s explosive. There’s anguish, pain, angst, passion, fire and redemption. Their love is eternal... but nothing is ever safe in Dante’s world and it soon becomes clear that the target of the lone sniper wasn’t Simone’s father, but his own family. Dante needs to find out who is after them before the sniper hits his target.

But the threat gets too close for comfort and Simone’s life is put in mortal danger. The only one who can save her is Dante. Can he save her? Or has he lost her all over again.

Absolutely AMAZING!! Gripping, intense, exciting, passionate... it’s everything a great story should be. I loved Dante before this book, but now... wow... he’s just everything a girl could ever want in a man.

Fabulous story... superbly written... a real page turner that stopped me from getting any sleep until I’d finished. Brilliant!! On to book 5!! Can’t wait.

I do believe I’m gathering my own harem here! Every single alpha male Sophie has written about so far, I’ve fallen in love with! My poor long suffering husband just doesn’t compare!!!!!!! I’m loving how everything is coming together, through each couples story and the families as a whole. I adore her descriptive writing, this is the reason why I enjoy books far far more than tv. I could live inside her books. Again, no spoilers or plots - you really do need to read this series for yourself. And do yourself a favour, download the accompanying Spotify playlist - you can thank me later……

Fourth book in the series starts before the events of the previous books. When the eldest of the Gallo boys Dante was just 21 and still making a name for himself.
His leading lady Simone was from a rich controlling family, which leads her to be in the wrong place at exactly the perfect time.

I love the fact we get to know about why Dante is so closed off to females, even when they physically throw themselves at him.

The action & suspense grew more and more as the book went on.
I most definitely agree eating one pea at a time is 💯 huge red flag psycho trait 🤣🤣
This one has got to be my favourite so far, absolutely in love with Dante and his Dominate Daddy vibes 😍

Gahhh I’m SO MAD that i put off continuing this series for so long.
Miss Sophie KNOWS her shit and that is what i love about these books. It’s hard to write a mafia romance and make it different to everything that is already out there. To create new characters that are so distinct and different from every other series out there and Lark has done exactly that.

Another reason i love this series somuch is because of the technical terminology. The fact that Nero was an actual car addict and knew everything about cars and how Dante is a soldier through and through and not just a hot headed “gangster” mafioso and how each of their stories is not the usual script of “bad boy meets innocent girl, they have lots of sex and fall in love and have babies” that 99% of the mafia books i’ve ever read follow. each story is different and new and exciting and i love it! Off to read the rest of em now!

a second chance mafia romance. dante is buff😮‍💨 who doesn’t love a strong attractive man built like a house🔥 this one jumped right into simone and dante, 10% in and it’s already🥵 is it hot in here?!😮‍💨 you know the scenes are 🔥 when there’s clothing ripping🤪 i know this book isn’t about dante’s little sister aida but younger her is mentioned and i loved her in brutal prince, and i love 11 year old aida so much more🤣 LOVE AIDA, she’s hilarious🤣!

simone & dante’s story starts off on how they met and fell in love and then jumps to 9 years later🥹 it was love at first sight for these two, until it wasn’t..🥲 it’s a really fast paced read and i just want to hug dante🥹 or have him wrap those big arms around me and hold me🤪 i loveeee riona and dante’s friendship🥰

wow can we just talk about protective dante for a second or a year😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 THIS MAN🔥 if i was ever in danger i would want dante to come and save me!! (or nero😉 sorry can’t seem to let my baby go haha). the spice in this book🥵🌶 WOW!!

near the end the last few chapters HAD ME GRIPPED, i couldn’t put it down the suspense was killing me! the ending was sooo sweet, my heart felt so full, i just love dante & simone so much. i want someone to love me so deeply and unconditionally dante loves simone🥹💗

Dante Gallo is the oldest of the Gallo children. He’s angry, protective, serious, focused, broody, and oh so sexy! He wasn’t always this way though. When he was younger, he was impulsive, reckless, and happy, but if you crossed him you saw the dangerous side of him. A woman changed him and for almost ten years he was the serious, protective, focused Gallo offspring. He was in love and would do anything to keep Simone Solomon, but fate had other ideas for these two, and Simone left Chicago and Dante. Her leaving crushed Dante and made him a changed man. To avoid the sadness and heartbreak he joined the service and left Chicago himself and his family to fight for his country. Now, with his family’s connection to the Irish mafia, he and his brother in-law Callum Griffin two very powerful men in Chicago.
Simone Solomon is young and the daughter of a very wealthy businessman that has her whole life planned out for her by her father. Her chance meeting with Dante changes everything for her. Her father is not happy about her relationship with Dante and goes to extremes to keep her away from him. Unfortunately, a fateful meeting on Dante’s part one night when he is going to meet Simone, scares her more than anything her father has told her and makes her choose a life away from Chicago. Little does she know that it will be the wrong decision and she is just as miserable as Dante because she left him. Another chance meeting will put her back in Dante’s sights and although they try to avoid one another while she is in Chicago, fate intervenes again.
I have loved Dante from the beginning of the Brutal Birthright stories and this story made me fall more in love with him. He is a brick house as a young man, but he is even more of one almost ten years later when Simone sees him again. We’ve never seen a vulnerable side like this to Dante, but Simone sure destroyed him and then she reconstructed him and his heart when she returned. Even though he tried his best to protect his heart and himself, he was no match for fate and her path for these two. The Gallo family has had their fair share of trouble, but this book has both the Gallo’s and the Griffin’s in danger. It was tragic, beautiful, heartbreaking and healing. Dante and Simone have a once in a lifetime love and there was no way they could avoid the collision both times they met. I give this story a 5-star review and am so looking forward to more of the Brutal Birthright series. Ms. Lark is a great storyteller and has a way of breaking your heart and healing you in one book. I highly recommend her books but will give you fair warning that you will need to be prepared for tears, laughs, and anger. She can bring all of these emotions out in one book as well. If you are a lover of mafia romance, Sophie Lark is a great author to go to.

Really happy to finally get Dante's story and see him both as his younger self and now I'm getting current timeline. His romance with Simone was forbidden but super sweet, I really liked how they complemented each other. I did expect it to take more for their reconciliation considering how badly hurt he was by her leaving but they both seemed to be very in tune with the other's POV and understanding.

Despite how much I loved this book, I really missed the mafia aspect and the danger came from a different background. I know both families are moving more into legal businesses but I do miss that illegal aspect of the storyline.

Finally I'm back in the BB world. With Dante and Simone. Now there are a couple of characters in this that don't behave exactly as they should. One of those is Simone for sure. I mean I can see it a wee bit, but still, not even a wee bit of a grovel?? That said Dante and Simone have that soulmate level love that I can barely even comprehend and I love that for them. I enjoyed seeing past and present Griffin's and Gallo's even someone (or two Someone's) from books to come. A solid read.

Devouring the whole series, the author is amazing, the stories are good and really keep me interested, not often I'm screaming the butchers going to cut out his appendix or screeching they pressed the lift button like someones about to die Haha. But best of all is the author has a way with words that I love. I'm not even sure if its intentional but shes really makes me smile. I wasnt sure I was going to read them all, but they honestly get better and better with each book. I absolutely cant believe these are free on unlimited, read them, you definately wont be disappointed.

Oh my. It's so good to read Dante's story. Another sizzling hot mafia alpha to add to my book boyfriend list! After having his heart broken almost a decade ago, this big strong teddy bear of a man needs a good cuddle by a good woman to make him whole again. Unfortunately that is not me. However his lost love Simone finally comes back and this sexy male gets his heart desire at last. Such a sweet tale of love getting a second chance. Definitely one to read.
