Le tome que j’ai le moins apprécié de la saga, malgré une fin très très sauvage !! Parce que le récit est un peu trop mou à reprendre après la fin du tome 4.

Why are the authors doing this to us?

Tory was again annoying at the beginning of the book, thinking that she wasn't to blame with the whole Elysian Mates thing, but like every time Darius would make an effort and open himself to her, Tory would just try to find excuses. To me, Darius really redeemed himself in Cursed Fate and I'm so in love with him I'm not even ashamed.
As for Darcy and Orion, I knew it was too good to be true and I was waiting for something to go bad and it did and I just want to cry. Orion was insane to plead guilty, even though I understand he did it to protect Darcy.
Max and Geraldine, I'm still ready for them to get together but at the same time I love how Geraldine pushes him away and how Max never gives up!
Seth also redeemed himself to me towards the end. I think he and Darcy can have a cute friendship if he doesn't play stupid.
And Caleb can also be a really good friend to Tory. It was so sweet what he did for her and Darius even if it only worked once.

Also, can we talk about how the Heirs and the Vegas are so much stronger when they team up? They are meant to work together and not against each other (even though we all knew it from the beginning but it feels so good when they're not at each other's throats!).

Cannot wait to read ZA6! Even though I know my heart will probably suffer again.

It is for the moment my favorite tome.

I really liked the evolution of romance (finally !!!) it still took 6 volumes to have a semblance of emotions ... I however hate the part of the leg in the air at 3 with Caleb ..

I always have a preference for the couple Tory and Darius, if I appreciate being able to have the point of view of several characters it is at times tiring, because I want to continue on their story and not on the history of others (this is a very personal taste and I think it is voluntary on the part of the authors)

The end is too much ... there is already too much going on to prevent the happiness of our two lovers without adding more ...
I like the rapprochement and the friendly evolution between all these little people.

the writing is always so great, and big point for humor.

For months I couldn't get the idea of the book being like the silver star ( à roller-coaster at europa Park) out of my head. When at the beginning you are on the Rise and you are freaking out cause it slow and you are seing the sky and you turn to your friend and say what the hell are we doing here cause you know you are scared at the beginning but you still go because you really like it after. That's the same feeling I got with cursed fates, I knew with the cliff I'd be afraid of what could happen but knew I'd love it.

I really loved sweet Darius.
And the heirs and the girls beginning to bond, I was so waiting for this to happen.

And I really really loved how the two spin off melt with ZA. I like seeing characters from a spin off and see how he was years before or how he became years after. Even though it's stay cryptic so I am searching clue and grasping each little Crumb of info that are given.

I feel like every new za who got released is my favorite but I will be totally incapable to choose one each time I read or re-read them.

Bear in mind that the final book is yet to be released, but this one is my fave. I’ve just finished reading it for the 3rd time, and I love it. There are definitely parts of each of the others that I adore, but this is the one where we really start to see the separate characters in HD. Especially once you have read all of the books, novellas, and free chapters that are out there, going through this one in a re-read brings so much subtlety into higher clarity.

No spoilers, but there is a relationship in books 7 & 8 that some readers say was too “0-to-60 in 2 seconds flat”, but in a re-read, the subtle signals are there even from book 2… and even more here in book 5… it’s just been a waaaaay slower burn. This is the book where it’s really shown up and omg I’m here for every minute of it. (Thanks ladies, for them, because omg the roller coaster of emotions I’ve felt for those two more than any of the others has been intense!

☞ My least favorite so far because ugh, everything went downhill for me after Orion went to prison.

First half ➞ 4.5 Stars

➤ DARCY & ORION

➞ My ship was sailing and flourishing...

“I won,” I sang and he smirked, his eyes becoming hooded. “I’m okay with you being my weakness, Blue. Because that means my weakness is a bada$$, hot as f- Phoenix with enough fire in her veins to rival the sun. So come at me stars, I’m invincible!”

☞ Orion, I will never get over you. Why are these two so cute tho?

I usually get bored with the couple after they get together but this was so not the case here. Must be my undying love for Orion.

And the way they flirt? Can someone please just kill me? I'm dying from the cheesy cuteness that is these two but hell, I'm here for it.

➞ ...until it started sinking...

I think we all knew it was coming but a small part of me hoped they'd make it until graduation and get away unscathed but I guess that was just wishful thinking. Of course, it wouldn’t be that easy and every couple has to go through some conflict before getting their HEA, right? Right? After all, this is romance 101. 🙃

It was heartbreaking though… especially for me who’s basically reading this series just for Darcy and Orion. I’m so angry that he broke their promise because I really believed him when he said it and thought he would do anything and everything he could to fight for them… 😪

The worst thing however was that he was missing during all the crucial scenes… and Darcy? Poor her 😭 Also, the fact that we will probably never get to see a$$h*le Professor Orion in action anymore…? This second half was horrible 😩😩

➤ TORY & DARIUS

➞ The consequences

This is so freaking sad, poor Darius. I don’t know what I should think, he kinda deserved it but does he really? Everything feels even worse with all these reactions to his eyes, it just makes me want to bawl my eyes out.

I said I’d be fine if Tory could live with the consequences of her choice. Well she didn’t, not really, but I was still fine. Why? Because at this point, I’m so fed up with their romance that I don’t have a flying fudge to give anymore because it’s too little and too late for me to root for them. Their prior relationship didn’t give me anything tangible that made me want to hold on to them and wish for them to be together. Sure, I still wanted to know how the authors would turn this whole situation around but I simply had nothing else left to give anymore…

Other than their relationship, I do think Darius deserves a round of applause though because – can you say character growth? Heck yeah!

➞ The threesome

A teeny tiny part of me is impressed by the idea but I don't find anything romantic about them coming together like this. Skip, skip, skip, I don't wanna read about Tory and Darius' budding relationship if this is the only way for them to be together because seriously? No. Just no.

➤ XAVIER

– What should we do about Xavier’s crush on Sofia?? I actually like her with Tyler but now I want Xavier to have everything he desires… Is this going to be some unrequited love-triangle? Hopefully not 🙈

– One of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever read has to be the scene where Xavier and Darius fly together in their Order form with the other heirs chasing them 😭 Xavier is finally free 😭 not to forget Catalina 😭

➤ SETH & CALEB

Seth and Caleb, who would have thought?? You might have seen it coming but not me lol

➤ FRIENDSHIPS ARE FORMING

– Awww, the hug Darcy gave Darius after he said “eff the law for saying you can’t be together” and she responds with “eff the stars”.

I can’t believe they’re all bonding after disaster struck because greeeeat, it took a freaking tragedy for them to finally bond 😪 but who am I to turn down awesome friendships:

– Orion wearing the friendship bracelet made by Tory religiously every day without comment 🥺

– The scene where the twins and the heirs stood together to punish Kylie 👏👏👏 everybody can see how powerful they can be if they’d just work together. I mean, "everybody" except Darius (and the other heirs) I guess 😪

➤ THE ENDING

No one: How much more complicated can this get?
The sister authors: Challenge accepted.

That ending gave me a headache because seriously?? Binding Tory to Lionel??

Everything has to go to *poop* first before it can get better, right? 🙃
And thinking that the whole situation is *poop* already but then the authors make it even more *poopy*... 🙃 I'm absolutely speechless.
If Tory starts making out with Lionel in book six, I'm out .

Seriously though, that ending was too much and the author sisters totally pulled a Cassandra Clare here if you know what I mean: one step forward, two steps back. This is how I feel about these books when it comes to Tory and Darius. Guess I still kinda care if it frustrates me that much, huh? Or maybe I just don't want to go through this whole thing AGAIN 🙄.

I demand an epic ending in book seven as compensation for this emotional hell I’ve been through.

Other things:

➤ Darcy finally defeating Seth. I’ve been waiting for this moment since book one and it finally happened. It still left a bitter taste in my mouth though because of the reason she fought him…

➤ Someone slap Clara to death, please. Same with Lionel. These two 🤮

➤ I’m rooting for Max and Geraldine 😂 Who knew Geraldine would become such an integral part of this group one day?

Aptly named “cursed fates”. This one will wring all your emotions out of you. Characters that you love and characters that you hate blossom in this book. So much to take in as you are powerless reading to change the story to what you desire. Only moving on to book 6 is all you can do. This series is mind blowing good. It has its hooks in me and I don’t want it to let go.

“Zodiac Academy: Cursed Fates” is book five in the Supernatural Bullies & Beasts series co-authored by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. Told in multiple povs by Darcy, Tory, Orion, Darius, Max, Seth, Caleb and Xavier. Previous books need to be read prior. Ends on a cliffhanger.

This is one of the hardest reviews I have written in a long time, so much happens in this book that deserves recognition but without giving anything away, is where things get tricky. So I am just going to talk about my feelings and this is probably going to end up being cryptic and confusing. But stick it through.

I had so many mixed emotions going into this book, after the cliffhanger in ZA: Shadow Princess, I had no idea what to expect. Orion is bleeding out after his sister attacked him, Darcy is trying to get help, Darius is heartbroken and Tory is her usual selfish self. I was hyped, nervous, angry, scared, frustrated, excited and emotional when I picked this up and I can tell you that the feelings you had at the end of ZA: SP will be amplified and continue over a few chapters in this book.

I will say this, I think I’m going to have to give the rest of this series a break for now. Tory’s attitude and constant whining is doing my head in, I know that the ending of this book was horrible and a massive cliffhanger. But with Tory being in trouble I can tell the next book is going to be all about her and no offence but I think everyone has sacrificed enough to try and clean up her mess. Come on Darcy has lost so much and no one seems to be doing anything to help her. But Troy screws up with her divine moment and literally everyone is trying to rectify it. Sorry rant about Troy over, (I hope) she just irks me…

My heart continues to break for Orion and Darcy, these two deserve so much happiness. But unfortunately the stars are not in their favour and things take a nose dive and continue to go horrible for them. I’m still rooting for them to get a Divine Moment, not sure how it’s going to happen with how things take place in this book. But please Caroline and Susanne give them a HEA.

Darius and Tory, I’m not sure where to start with these two. Both are just as stubborn, pig headed and selfish. But I did feel terrible for Darius, as it seemed that no matter what he did, Tory continues to be a biatch. Just when things were starting to look go there is a twist and bam, back to square one. Darius is trying to make up for his horrible acts he did against both Tory and Darcy, but Tory is just as much to blame, yet she continues to play the victim. Now I’m not saying what Darius did was acceptable, but Tory can’t make the decision she did then get all teary and emotional when it hurts and blame Darius for it all. Cause at the end of it all, she was the one that said no.

Now Seth makes a real turn around in this book, remember when I said in a previous review he needed another flee infestation, well I take it back. But I’m hoping he doesn’t hurt Darcy again. I loved seeing the Vega Twins and Heir working together in this book, the bond between them is getting stronger and maybe, just maybe the vision that Orion was trying to mention to Darius in ZA: SP might just come true.

Lost of revelations and secrets are revealed in this book. But we are still left with lots of questions and mystery. But for now I think I’m going to say goodbye to Solaria and come back later as I don’t feel as I will be able to enjoy it with the way I feel about Tory.

Thank you to these wonderful authors for bringing this world, story and characters to life and giving us this series that I don’t think I will ever be able to forget.

I know it's a book and in books it's easy to want things to go just perfectly so we can be happy but that's not life. In life we make terrible decisions, life hurtles lemons at your head and everything can just go WRONG! This is that book and I love it for that because even if at times I get angry and upset right along with the Characters that's life and every now and again you get blips of happiness but they don't last long. I'm about 10 pages away from finishing it. The 6th book will be here today when I get home from work!
