Didn’t finish.

Sorry this is partly my taste and partly it’s totally unrealistic.

So in the first few pages, we learn that she’s a widow who is trying to keep her media business open. They’ve already let half the staff of six hundred go. And they can’t afford to pay the other half. So when Clare goes to a meeting with Tristan who wants to buy her company, her and her friend act totally inappropriately, like teenage girls!! With her friend kicking her under the table, Clare shouting at Tristan and calling him rude names!! I don’t get it!
Why take the meeting with him? It’s so bizarre! And really depressing as well. As after shouting rude names at him, she starts crying. Then he rings her up later and she calls him rude names again and he likes it??? Erm…. Yeah I don’t understand people like her.

The kids and pets are some of the funniest things I’ve read. The initial meeting was believable and interesting. The second meet-cute was great.
Spoilers ahead…….

What frustrates me was how little they communicated. The sex was great, the chemistry off the charts - but didn’t they ever talk? Decisions made after being together months (at least 7 - because Claire makes that comment at one point) and they’ve never discussed? House? Future? Dead husband? Failing company? How can you call someone your partner and basically buy a house without discussing the situation. And the kids future? Nobody sat down and discussed their reasoning? - like adults? Just a lot of “deal breaker comments” - “how dare you” inner monologues.
They drew so many lines in the sand - only to realize they missed sex - so they got back together.
I would consider this a HFN - happily for now - there will be resentment in the future. He’s given up so much to give in to her demands. And I’m bummed that he has to quit Miles Media in order to save her company. His mother was right - all he wants to do is swoop in and fix things. If he really is a fixer - there should have been a way to have Anderson Media go under the Miles media umbrella - which would still allow the Andersons to run it.
And there were lots of details that were wrong. For one, The Edison hotel is a dump. For that to be their hotel - oh geez…..
and to buy an engagement ring where he did? No way. He would have gone straight to Neil Lane and had the diamonds brought to him. Or had a shopping trip at Tiffany’s with the boys.

And no epilogue?? Was it a boy? Was it a girl? Did they finally move? When did they marry? What about his mother? Did Claire ever develop a friendship with anyone???? Did Claire still work at Anderson? Does she do something else that she actually liked?

There were so many things I did love about the book - the banter, the kindness of Tristan - over and over and over again - the boys - their initial meeting with Tristan is some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever read. Ever.

But sadly, so many things didn’t hit the mark for me. It wrapped up way too quickly. I don’t really remember them ever leaving Paris. Suddenly they were ring shopping. Sigh….

Tristan Deserved Far More

SPOILER ALERT: I liked Book 1 and was anticipating another great story. Tristan was light and fun in the first book. Even Emily was "smitten" by his warmth and easy personality despite being in love with Jameson. I could see why he was attracted to Claire--she did not want him, so a challenge. But I was surprised and unhappy that she was so hateful to him. It was not enemies to friends, he was always nice and open. She was just mean. Then there is Claire's totally neurotic behavior. Yes she's a stressed out widow trying to uphold her husband's dream--that's admirable. But she makes all decisions and reactions based on emotions and hers are all over the place. She is kind of a diva really. She is likely why her sons are so damaged, she still reacts like they are all 5 yrs old. She should really have been in grief therapy. And the thing that fixes her attitude? Her son says his Dad in heaven found Tristan for her. Please, that just reinforces the neurotic her. Then there were a few things that were just ridiculous like the 2 minor aged runaway boys able to fly to Paris without passports--they snuck. And she was so buddy buddy with Garrera and there is a him/Tristan confrontation and then suddenly he is never mentioned again. Thirteen year old Harry holding hands with Tristan in a mall seemed off, too. So I give this on a 2 mostly due to Claire's weird behavior and yet Tristan falls for her hard. Also the adoption, he was leaving their surname in the name. He just wanted to be acknowledged as their dad too--not the biological, but the acting dad. And it could make their future lives easier. And the boys wanted it. It happens that the new husband adopts. She needed to rethink that one. I liked the idea of the book, a widow falls in love again and finds a new lasting love. I just wish the widow had been nicer. Tristan deserved better. I just really disliked Claire. I also hate he left to lead her company. I don't understand why it could not become Anderson Media, A Miles Media Subsidiary. It happens all the time. Money in, corporate guidance, and a thriving company. Tristan is a saint.

I feel very conflicted about this book. Right off the bat the premise of this book interested me. The lead woman is a widow, and I myself was widowed when I was 27 years old. Some some of the things I had a lot of empathy for her but there's also times where I was very mad at both him and her for acting unreasonably. We all grieve differently but I just found some of these things to be uncompassionate on both of their parts. I don't think I would read this book again.

I was looking forward to reading this book after reading The Stopover but was disappointed. As a young widow myself I had empathy for Claire initially but then she just got to be annoying. She was rather immature. The book could have been 100 pages shorter. It just went on and on with them getting in fights. And two young boys flying by themselves from NY to Paris is just WAY to unbelievable. Finally you can tell the author doesn’t actually live in the US. Which I’m totally fine with but don’t write a book that’s based there then. A lot of the details were just not realistic and that bugs me.

Some sex great but this author goes overboard. I skipped over most of the book because of this. And she repeats herself. I got tired of hearing repeatedly " he knocked the air out of my lungs". Give me a break. So redundant. Author uses sex scenes to fill up the pages, so obvious.

I loved the first book of this series but I just can’t make it through this book. The kids are unbearable and I find myself rooting for them to not be together.

Great stories but taking the name of God Jesus Christ in vain is disrespecting millions of believers around the world. You don’t need to disrespecting their names to validate your writing. It will survive without that. Good Day! Reason for 2 stars.
