You’re Not Alone

This is the book I needed while experiencing pregnancy loss and struggling with infertility. Amy bravely shares her own story. It is hard to not feel alone while going through this heart wrenching process. Learn as much as you can from others. You are not alone. Amy’s story reminds me of the importance of advocating for yourself. It also reminds me that in the midst of darkness miracles are still possible.

This book provides a lot of helpful references and resources for where to find more info. Thank you so much for sharing about the many helpful REIs out there. I have learned so much from the wonderful community that exists. I had no idea. I highly recommend this book to anyone out there who is struggling.

The Trying Game is one of the best books I’ve read this year. When I read an excerpt of the introduction where Klein shared that she wanted to punch someone in the face because of something ridiculous they said to her during infertility, I knew I had to have this book. Aside from all the helpful information in this book, it is incredibly entertaining, which is really remarkable, considering it’s about infertility.

All I wanted throughout my infertility journey was one resource that would detail all of the different treatments, who they work best for, and a rough estimate for their cost. This is exactly what The Trying Game is. And yet it is so much more as well. The humor and humanity brought to the text by Klein and her personal experiences made it so much more accessible and readable for those of us dealing with infertility. I also so appreciated the chapters on jealousy, how religion plays into all of this, and trying to maintain a relationship with a spouse throughout infertility. There is SO much more to infertility besides just the medical aspect of it, and I’m fairly certain this book covered every single part of it.

I cannot recommend this book any more; if it was possible to give it more than 5 stars I most definitely would. It made me feel less alone, it had me laughing about infertility, and it helped me to feel more empowered and in control about what other treatments I want to try before finishing this journey.

I wish I had known about The Trying Game before I started fertility treatments. It is a comprehensive A-Z guide to everything and anything infertility related, a real step by step guide on what the choices are, what you need to know, and what the research says. Woven in are insightful anecdotes about Amy's own experience and experiences of others, delivered with empathy and a hefty dose of humor. This book is really helping to reduce the "I feel crazy" aspects of infertility, because it makes you feel like you have a friend along for the journey who knows what you are feeling. I would recommend it to anyone struggling with infertility. It covers all the topics from the emotional, spiritual, physical and financial aspects. And it's written with very relatable humor!

I loved this book! It was so easy to read and enjoyable that I read it in less than 2 days! Amy Klein took her experiences and shared them to help other people struggling with infertility issues, without judgement. Her writing style feels as if she is your best friend; she is honest and funny. I appreciated her stories and others that she shared. This book was a crash course in fertility issues and treatments, written with sensitivity, compassion, and humor. I highly recommend this book!

Amy Klein has written not only a helpful guide on the fertility process, but an entertaining one, even though the subject is so fraught with difficult emotions. With sensitivity, humor, and knowledge, she goes through the logistical, psychological, and emotional ins-and-outs of trying for that "thing" you may want the most. Highly recommended as a primer and guide for anyone undergoing fertility treatments.

When I was trying to get pregnant nearly 11 years ago, this book would have been a lifesaver. I had my daughter but went through a lot of turmoil that could have been alleviated. Today, this book it will be a lifesaver and a support system to women all over the world struggling with infertility. The book is written in a friendly, easy-to-read manner, and the advice is priceless. The author also shares her own personal stories throughout, making it highly relatable.
I highly recommend getting it.

Amy Klein has written what I can best describe as a girlfriend’s guide to infertility. Klein’s extensive research is well organized and written in easy to understand prose. And rather than being a dry factual book, Klein shares her own personal and painful experience with infertility which at times brought me to tears. And yet throughout the book Klein manages to make the reader laugh with her sarcasm, wit and humor. A must read if you or a friend is struggling with infertility.

When my husband and I were told we would need to do IVF, I felt really overwhelmed by the actual process and I had a serious mistrust in doctors at that point.
Rarely are we given honest information prior to making huge decisions (and spending tons of money) in the infertility journey, but Amy Klein does a brilliant job at providing the tools, while also finding the humor in the difficult process.
