I preferred the first book by Danielle Lori but I also loved this 2nd Made Book romance!! ❤ not so much the first part which revolves around Gianna's past. I was more interested in the interaction scenes between Gianna and Christian. Gianna is a lovely and complex character...I enjoy reading about her past, her complex personality, her fears and her growing feelings for Christian.
Gianna and Christian are complete opposites, their behaviour, their tastes and personnalities, are polar opposites. And yet, their mutual attraction and the fact that they are both traumatised by their own past, are what brings them closer. Danielle Lori brilliantly places in the middle of some chapters, some moments from the characters' past which reveal the depth of the characters' feelings. These 2 characters have known each other for a long time but because of their own issues, they refuse to see that what they have is so much deeper than just sexual attraction...
I really enjoyed reading the evolution of their relationship. Sex scenes are really sizzling and how cute are Christan's Russian endearments (like "malyshka")!!! Very romantic. But the banter between them, their deep conversations and all the positive consequences of their relationship on their issues, are what got me hooked from beginning to end... the 2 characters are wonderful. It's hard to let them go, at the end...I am going to miss them.
This is another book that I will read again...

If you didn’t particularly love the first book like me well THIS IS THE ONE TO DO IT
Gianna is real and true and i loved every single second of that book

I am officially IN LOVE with this story. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, The Sweetest Oblivion but I have to say that Gianna and Christian have stolen my heart. I'll go as far as say that The Maddest Obsession is one of my all-time favourite book. It is THAT good. Gianna and Christian 's chemistry and attraction is addictive and utterly captivating.

Overall, The Maddest Obsession is a thrilling, sexy, enchanting, compelling, enemies-to-lovers romance filled with twists, mystery, passion and incredible chemistry. It's oh so rare for me to love the hero and heroine equally, but this was definitely the case with Gianna and Christian. I loved them so much both as individuals and as a couple. I couldn't get enough of them, and am still desperately hoping for a novella.

I highly, highly recommend this book.

The Sweetest Oblivion was fantastic....but this book just exceeded my expectations. It was gritty, addictive and fuxking mind blowing. I LOVED IT!!

Christian Allister a man as deep as the ocean with so many secrets you just want to unravel. Christian is exactly the kinda character I LOVE and immediately become fascinated by.
He's charismatic yet very aloof. His obsessive and multi layered personality commands attention. You know he's deadly just from the way he carries himself. He's utterly lethal and completely alluring in every way.

It's impossible not to love Gianna in this book. Deep down she craves what every woman wants, but hides it behind a facade. Her beauty is her weapon, the perfect eye candy. Gorgeous and fashion obsessed she's a sparkly wet dream. The ideal Mafia Wife she plays the part well, it's her Armour of choice.
No one notices she's a lost soul or sees the real her because no one cares to....until Christian Allister.

OMFG!!! The first thing I loved about these two was the verbal sparring between them. Every time they met they just had to goad each other. It was exhilarating, I could feel the sexual tension bubbling beneath the surface ready to explode whenever they were in the same place. Like magnets that are drawn to each other their connection can't be denied.

Christian and Gianna are each others Maddest Obsession and they just became my newest obsession. ♥

another good read with a good storyline and good characters but I didnt find it as great as the previous book, to me there was not enough of Christians POV so I felt his character was a bit flat and 1 dimensional especially near the end, I did like giannas character she was fun and bubbly and funny at times.

There is not much story about the mafia itself in this book which i would have liked to have read more about and i felt alot wasnt explained about Christians work with the FBI and what he does for the mafia

Christians and giannas romance was great and I found myself reading quickly to find out more and even though I did enjoy this book it wasn't very emotional and my heartstrings didn't feel pulled when reading like I felt when I read the sweetest oblivion and I think that was because we didn't have many parts in with Christians POV as about 80% was told in elenas POV

Wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this book as I wasn’t keen on either of the main characters from book 1. Well I’m so glad I did. I love Gianna and Christian both so so much. They were such a great pair. So different but so good together. Such a slow burn in this romance I didn’t think it would happen. With Gianna’s previous marriages it wasn’t likely for her to be with someone outside of the outfit. Nico and Elena and a few other characters made appearances which was great throughout. Seeing Gianna as herself and not how everyone else saw her was such a surprise, a good one. Christian was a revelation, not at all who he seemed. So stiff and mean on the outside but with Gianna so passionate and caring. I’m so sad this book is over but so happy I read it.

The plot line in one line: Over the course of several years, young mafia wife Gianna and the 30-something “dirty fed” she keeps bumping into have a relationship that starts with verbal sparring, turns into lots of passionate sex and ends with obsessive love.

The good and the bad: Here's the perfect example of a book which, when it has enough good stuff going for it, you can overlook things that would normally annoy you tremendously.

There are holes in the story – it’s not at all clear how it is that the male lead Christian became an FBI agent, considering his past, or how he so clearly manages to get away with being a “dirty fed”, or indeed what his real function is in either the FBI or mafia world. I also found Gianna to be a complete spoilt brat and didn’t see how Christian would be attracted to her.

But the book is incredibly readable. I really liked how ever so gradually we find out about Gianna and Christian’s respective difficult, abusive pasts – but not so slowly as to lose interest. Their interactions with one another kept me hooked, waiting for their next encounter, and I liked seeing their relationship evolve from one seemingly of hate but sexual attraction, to one of love. On the latter point, there’s a bit of a twist with Christian which I enjoyed and thought was quite sweet.

The sex scenes are high-steam and get a big tick from me.

I don’t normally choose books that glorify or romanticise crime and violence but enjoyed this one, so if anti-heroes/mafia guys are actually your thing, then this is a pretty solid choice of book.

Wow, I couldn’t put this down if you tried to pry it from my hands with an crowbar. After the first book I wasn’t sure how I could like characters more than Elena and Nico - especially given the glimpses of Gianna and Christian weren’t the best.

How glad I am to be so wrong. What a wild ride!

This book splits into two parts with a trip through Gianna’s kind of sad history through to modern day and how the tumultuous relationship between her and Christian developed. I had a million and one things to get done but sat and read this to the beautiful end instead as I couldn’t get these two out of my brain.

Gianna was a character I really didn’t think I would take to from the glimpses we had of her in book 1, but I honestly feel so protective and slightly in awe of her. A woman stuck in a man’s world and given all the rough cards still manages to be full of life and slightly loopy. Christian presented as a classic moody and stoic alpha you want to get inside the head of but he was truly so much more. Getting to see behind the ice was a real treat in his POV and still super believable to his character.

Thoroughly impressed with Danielle’s writing so far and will be reading as many of her books as I can get my hands on.

Wow, I really enjoyed this romance and I think I've found a new favourite couple?! This story was darker than the first with both our H/H having experienced extremely traumatic childhoods (CW/TW: sexual and emotional child abuse). I was not prepared for the things this book had me feeling but it's safe to say that I became so invested in these characters and their HEA! The story is told from alternating perspectives and in two parts. The first part focused on the past when Christian and Gianna first meet, leading up to part two which focuses on the present day. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy such a long timeline but it helped to set the stage for their characters and their ensuing tumultuous relationship.

Gianna and Christian have such an intense and playfully antagonistic relationship that is at first more hate and that very slowly starts morphing into something much more addictive. Once again, Danielle Lori is proving to be the queen of building up sexual tension because holy hotcakes, it was F-I-R-E! I wasn't sure I could handle the tension between these two as they circled each other and played slightly cruel but heated games but I was totally here for it. They both project such starkly contrasting images to what lies beneath the surface and it was an absolute delight to watch them peel back their layers and get to know each other. That said, I was a little disappointed that we didn't get Christian's story sooner but by that point, I was already so far gone for these two that it didn't really matter (much).

I had a feeling when Gianna was introduced in the first book that there was more to her than meets the eye and I was right. Being the daughter of a mafia family is no joke but Gianna has really suffered at the hands of the disgusting men in her life. She comes across as this bubbly, carefree, party girl who has a problem with drugs and alcohol, but her reasons for doing those things were heartbreaking. She has been hurting and scared for so many years and has never felt brave until Christian comes to stand behind her. She was so easy to like and root for and I loved her big heart and strength! We don't get to see a lot of her friendship with Val but when we do I loved their sassy banter and these two really had me laughing out loud. I'm not a fan of the "surprise" pregnancy trope and when hints were first dropped that it could happen I was pretty annoyed by it but I thought it was handled well and it didn't feel like either H/H was being entrapped in a situation they didn't want to be in, especially since by that point we knew how they both felt.

Christian is (unsurprisingly) her opposite. When I think of Christian I see a character that lives in darkness, as cliche as it sounds. He's messed up and does a lot of terrifyingly messed up things for almost no reason at all. He's not soft or easy and to be honest, I wasn't sure that I'd be into his extremely possessive attitude but he really grew on me and I ended up loving him! The way this terrifyingly stoic man doted so sweetly on Gianna and treated her so tenderly (at times) really had me melting! The more we get to know him, the more we feel just how much intense emotion radiates off his person and that emotion is reflected back to him from Gianna. Yes, much of the emotions were dark and obsessive but wow, the things they made me feel! Mhmm, needless to say, their chemistry was through-the-roof hot and when they finally get together, the sex was extra steamy. 🔥

Honestly, I just finished this book but I'm already ready to re-read it again because I loved these two and their romance.
