Love this author but this one didn’t do it for me

I struggled with this book and only persevered as I have enjoyed other books she has written. The main characters were ok but didn’t draw me in like the main characters in her other books. I like a good romance and a HEA but this one felt a bit like the after was not quite so happy. The storyline felt like bits were missing, especially as a huge part of the book focused on Charlotte needing to be kept safe, with many bodyguards, however there was never any threat presented in the book. The end of the book left me disappointed with a bad taste in my mouth. Part of me wondered in the epilogue if they should have stayed together as again the ever after didn’t seem so happy. I went from loving Spencer to finding him childish - seriously he held a grudge for 2 yrs in the first epilogue. Unfortunately more a fail than a win for me. Don’t however let this stop you reading other books by this author, I loved the Miles collection in particular The Take Over.

I started this series with Mr. Garcia. I kind of feel underwhelmed at the end of each book. The stories are engaging until they get to the 80-85% mark and the author throws in something unexpected that you really don’t think the MCs can get past when we have so little of the book left. It’s a mad rush to the ending to tie things up for a HEA and it leaves you feeling like it should have ended better.

Mr Spencer was good read but not as enjoyable and captivating as Mr Masters and Mr Garcia books. I found Charlotte really immature and annoying most the time. I did like Spencer even with his flaws, he was funny, romantic and very supportive of Charlotte.

I enjoyed the story even after Julian Masters but found quite a few typos. Which spoilt it for me so I only give it 3 stars instead of 4.

It was a nice enough story but I'm over the cliche virgin fmc trope and this has the added layer of ridiculous over bearing family. So many contradictions make it had to see these characters authentically. I liked the Mr Masters but this is dismal compared.

Overall, I liked the story but the ending was a little disappointing to me as a reader. I really debated over even writing a review or just keeping my opinions to myself. At almost the end of the book, the way that Spence treated Charlotte both in the bedroom and then for the years following I felt boarded on emotional abuse. I was disappointed in him because come-on, he is almost 40 years old. Even if he had never been in a serious relationship, just have some decency and respect for the person you claim to love.

Charlotte was the WORST

I have so much to say about this book because wth. There were a few minor bumps throughout the book, but I could get over them fairly easily. However, I HATED Charlotte for a number of reasons, which is what made it difficult for me to even like the book. My problems were not with the alpha males in the book or hell even the other women. The main issue was that the author tries to write Charlotte as this sweet, caring woman when she really isn’t. She is honestly a bitch. Spencer was with Sheridan for 10 years(even as an untraditional relationship that’s something) and sweet little Charlotte couldn’t even accept a goodbye meeting? Gtfoh! But I even got past that but then you get to the end of the book and you hate her even more. I felt so badly for spencer! I don’t want to spoil the book for those who haven’t read the book, but honestly Charlotte is so needy, selfish, childish, annoying, and she makes the book much less enjoyable. Because Charlotte was the issue for me and she is the heroine of the story, the book was pretty bad.

Not my favorite, but not bad

This wasn't one of my favorites from this author. The cover model got me though, phew! #fanning myself still.
That said, I like this author, but this book just had a few things that weren't answered, like, why all the bodyguards? What's the real reason? What about that second car we never hear more about. And why did Sheridan feel the need to go through hours of video footage to prove Spencer's innocence? How would that prove his innocence on the current situation? The excuse provided wasnt plausible. Not going to elaborate by giving spoliers.

And another pet peeve I had was repeated phrases. "The air crackles between us" was a tad overused. And the author tended to spell things out for the reader too much. Like the point was made and a literate reader would understand. But then it was further explained to us, almost dummed down some.

Still a good book, a good 3.5 stars. Just missed a few marks for me.

I will definitely say the last 20% of this book made me hate this Charlotte character. Almost to the point where I couldn't finish it.

It almost seems like the author couldn't think of a good climax so she just went with the most cliché of responses by a character.

I mean we know that Charlotte is innocent and inexperienced but literally every time she is confronted with confrontation she runs, or takes the really immature route.

Like when she finds a key in his pocket and finds out it's to Sheridan's room. She flips out on him and accuses him of being a liar. Even though she was lying about her virginity at the same time.

She learns from this slip up and promises not to jump to conclusions again. Only to turn around and do the exact same thing again for the main conflict.

Just terrible. I really do hate to say this but it's absolutely just lazy writing.

It's good, I would have probably really liked it if it was my first book by this author. But its my fourth, and we'll very well written and good stories,( and good see scenes) they are all basically the same. I've read 2 from a different series, and 2 from this series, and they all have been late 30s men with humongous penises and lots of money falling for mid 20's girls, something dramatic happens and they separate for awhile before they figure things out. I really loved the first one, and this one was really good, I just was waiting for something different to happen.
