This book ended up being a million times better than i thought, there’s something so refreshing and heart warming about it. I just fell in love with the characters, I 100% recommend that people read this.
Harloe Rae certainly knows how to craft a great read! Watch Me Follow starts out a little slow for me but it quickly becomes equal parts sweet and sexy! Watch me Follow is Lennon and Ryker's story. Hiding in the shadows, watching to insure her safety, Ryker follows Lennon like a dark shadow through her days. Always looking out for her and leaving her little gifts that will make Lennon smile consumes Ryker. He's loved her since High School. Yet she has absolutely no idea. Lennon has a secret admirer that leaves her little gifts and treasured notes on yellow sticky notes. Cloistered from so much by overbearing parents, she is innocent but in no way naïve. Lennon has never really lived. But all that changes when Ryker steps out of the shadows and into Lennon's reality.
Readers will love Watch Me Follow for a number of reasons. Harloe Rae wrote a beautifully crafted story about two people who yearn for more. Existing but not really happy. This story is told in duel POV. I had a harder time connecting with Lennon then I did Ryker. Yet the characters Harloe Rae crafted are both really well developed. Your heart will shatter for Ryker. You'll want to just wrap him in your arms! This contemporary romance also brings the heat! The chemistry between Ryker and Lennon is apparent immediately. I own previously released books by Harloe Rae, but this is the first book I have read. I was impressed for sure! Although initially I was slightly put off by Ryker's stalking of Lennon, as I delved deeper into this story, my position quickly changed. Suddenly, stalking became sexy and I came to appreciate the lengths Ryker goes to to bring Lennon safety and love. Their relationship flourished sweetly as they follow the list Lennon makes. Harloe Rae's writing was unique.
The story should not be mistaken for a strictly sweet read. There are elements of darkness. Harloe's writing is engaging and Watch Me Follow certainly has many twists that leave readers clueless as to what is to come. I gave it four stars after debating with myself over the course of several hours whether I really liked it (4) or I flat out loved it (5)?! I struggled with the slower start of this book in addition to the disconnect I had with Lennon (and at time Ryker), I ultimately could not give it a five star. I think this book is going to be well received with readers and certainly shouldn't be missed. Watch me follow certainly opened a door allowing stalking to be sexy. Whether you are a new or old reader of Harloe Rae, Watch Me Follow will provide you hours of entertainment and shouldn't be missed!
The media campaign for this book was spot on. A few teasers and an excellent blurb... But like other readers I was expecting this book to walk a little wilder, darker side.
The writing is good..no doubt. Only a few small errors that are easily overlooked and not at all prominent enough to matter. All good there.
The issue was that, in my opinion, it felt like a YA novel. The reason I say that, the characters, particularly Lennon, were too naive. I can buy Ryker's aversion to people. I can buy his obsessive nature and I can even buy his anxiety attacks. Buuut this is also a guy that does spend a great deal of time on the computer. He's exposed to the world etc...just didnt buy his immaturity. Needless to say the, "relations", part of the book was a little like reading about two teenagers that apparently know nothing about sex.
Okay..so shove aside the awkwardness between these two and what's left? It's sweet. Really sweet..both of them. Specifically, Ryker.
Had the blurb pointed to less edginess, less angsty anticipation, less perhaps darker elements, I might not have bought it. I'm glad that I did. This author clearly had a good plot in mind and writes well in my opinion.
I'm just not completely sold on it as a whole and felt a tad disappointed that it didn't tap into the grittiness that it could have.
4 stars for good writing, hard work and great premise.
Two people who live lonely lives find each other. Ryker is so sweet and protective. Lennon is a non-judgemental, caring woman. I love how they save so many firsts for each other.
The stalker vibe is a bit creepy, but when you understand the why and how of it, it all makes sense. The language is colorful, if a bit over the top at times. I enjoyed this story of truly loving and believing in someone.
This is not the typical romance story. Usually, there is a hot alpha male who is cocky, confident and suave wooing after the gorgeous heroine. This story is about two socially awkward kids who have very limited experience in any kind of romantic interactions at all. I am such a sucker for these kinds of stories. I love "flawed" and "imperfect" characters because that's real life. Ryker is just the sweetest. He just says the most honest and romantic things to Lennon without hesitation. He is the type of guy that you just want to save from the cold cruel world and Lennon is just that type of person to do it. They are perfect for each other and you will root for them the whole way through. I did think some of the banter and stalkerish behaviors were a bit over the top, but this is a fictional love story after all and it's just fitting for these two. I was really hooked right from the beginning and for me that makes a book.
This book kept me drawn to find out what was going to happen next. It is very emotional. It is like I can feel their pain too. Can't wait to reed more by this author. I would definitely recommend this book to Avery one I know who likes to read a god book. Thank you!
I'm not really sure how to rate this book. There were parts I enjoyed and parts I found meh. It didn't reach the level of intensity for me you might expect from this genre of book. There were definitely some very sweet moments and some which I found over the top cheesy and cringe worthy. I would have liked to explore Ryker a bit more, I felt we could have delved deeper into who he was and why he was the way he was - to me he was on the autism spectrum. I didn't not like this book, but I didn't love it.
Thrilling and suspenseful, you both leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting to figure out what happens next. You also get to find a little bit of a back story regarding the characters and how they met. As well as why he is so obsessed with her. All in all I think that this book was a very great read. I recommend it highly to anybody that would like a heartwarming tale of acceptance and love.
I liked reading a story about two people who didn't feel like they fit into normal slots, both feeling like they didn't fit in with the rest of society. When they meet, they are attracted to each other but don't have the confidence to really express their selves. I didn't quite understand how Ryker ended up so damaged, but loved watching him gain confidence.
