Good characters, too much drama

I am 61. When I first started reading this genre, the Hero was a Greek shipping tycoon or a rich sheik. They were manly men who treated women like crap and when they finally showed the least bit of affection, that was the happy ending. Between my father, my sexually 😕 confused first husband and those books, my expectation of men was not very high and proved to be correct. The last ten years have been even worse starting with YA/NA and progressing. This isn't a moral judgement, only a sad statement of how the women's movement keeps failing girls. Now girls start accepting this is their life. They go from man to man and take lack of respect as what they have to accept to keep a man or have a social life. Just screw enough guys and you will find your billionaire prince or wind up in AA. They want to hit it and quit it or occasionally you find a loveable 💘 rogue who is honest and makes you feel good about yourself and then does not pretend he doesn't know you later. The Unicorn is someone who dates you and is open to a relationship and opening your car door.

The Hero is a handsome tech billionaire/professor James. Speaking of Billionaires: There are between 2100 to 2300 in the world at a time depending on the stock market. About 560 are in the US and about 60 in the UK. Of these there are less than 60, in the whole 🌎 who are under 40. Some of the 56 or so are women. That makes it important to have a backup plan for marrying billionaire

"Foundation" is the fifth (and I wrongly assumed final) installment of The Hunted Series. I don't particularly care for stories that go on and on over multiple books, but in this case the characters were compelling enough to keep me reading. James is a tortured soul who's layers continue to be interesting as they are peeled back over the story and we see the good as well as the dark. Penny's coming of age journey, mingled with her love for James, unfolds rather well across the books. I did get tired of her constant insecurities that sometimes seemed contrived.

"Foundation" brings Penny's and James' love story to the parenthood phase of their relationship. There is a clever twist regarding the book Penny is writing which made me appreciate the author's creativity. I also appreciated the inclusion of the supporting cast of characters and it was good to see how Rob, Tyler, Mason, Matt, Jen and Melissa have progressed in their relationships which are nicely woven into the overall storyline.

HOWEVER... I read the first three books in a set that was free via BookBub. There were typos in these books but I was forgiving because they did not cost me money. Unfortunately, I paid $6.99 each for books four and five and there were typos in these versions as well. This is simply wrong. If I bought a shirt that was riddled with snags and holes, I'd return it as defective. I cannot understand why an author would release a product that is technically flawed.

Finally, THIS BOOK IS A CLIFFHANGER! This review is written in January, 2018, and apparently the next installment will be out sometime this year. Frankly, I won't bother anymore. By the time Book Six shows up, I no longer care. I have enough reading matereial in my library that I won't be wasting my time and money. In my opinion, cliffhangers are a cheap way to sell books. Buyer beware.

The book is so full of sex that you forget there is a story. Then after 30 some chapters the story picks up and takes off. By the time you get it all pulled together, they leave the female to die in the hospital while her husband is having an attack of some kind trying to get back to her, then it stops. The few story chapters are well thought out and catch you up in the book. The question is- can you get through the the kids to enjoy the few story chapters? Do you want to spend extra money to get the end of the story? No way will I buy another!

I liked the first book, didn’t like that she’s a 19 year old student! I kept reading because now I’m invested but I’m not necessarily enjoying the lack of character development.. but I’m going to finish to get the HEA ending!!

Spoilers! I wish the author would made this book more suspense filled instead of Penny over acting whole book. I have so many questions on why the doctor did what he did. Is James mother involved??

I liked it, then I didn't, then I was sad, then happy, then back to sad throughout a lot of this one. I just want Penny and James to be happy and I hope they get their happy soon.

The book didn't get interesting until almost the very end. It was a struggle to get through it. I only read it because I love all of the authors other books and I want to see what comes next in the series.

If I wasn't so in love with these characters and so invested in their story, I would have quit reading this book. The obvious grammatical errors throughout really turned me off. A professional should know the difference between your and you're, as well as when to use an apostrophe. Time to fire your editor and find someone who know what they're doing.
