Wow a good book. In the mafia in New York now. Donovan the protector and Dani, the heir, marry. They are being chased but by whom. FBI, mafia or a bent senator. A book full of mystery that is solved chapter by chapter. Well worth a read.

In 'The Bodyguard Dani' and Bishop are on the run, Dani has been shot and has suffered a memory loss including that Bishop is her husband. The lack of communication and how the story just back and forth between characters gives the plot flow issues. It took reading well into the story to figure out all the players and even then some surprises are revealed as the story progresses.

I liked the happy ending except for the last phone call that hinted at more trouble for Bishop and Dani but no hint at what kind of trouble. If you like mysteries with lots of twists and turns then this is a good story for you, but it just lack flow for me.

Twisty, Turny, Good Read

I enjoy dark romances, mob stories, and a twisty, turny, good read. This book delivered on most. It definitely had the mob element and corruption. Although there was romance, I wouldn't call it dark, even when considering the setting. There was some heat; but for me, it simmered more than boiled. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it didn't really take away from the story line. However, I would've liked to see a bit more passion--to the point of boiling over.

Lastly, it more than delivered on the twists and turns. I would even go so far as to say that I felt as if I'd been dropped into the second book of a series or missed a prequel on more than one occasion. There were a few times I felt as if I were missing a back story that would clarify things, but to my knowledge, this is the first book in the Gafanelli Mob series. In the author's defense, invoking a reader's feeling of missing pieces/elements could have been intentional to really connect the reader with one character's lost memories...or it could have been me. I did have a lot going on in my life while reading this book.

Bottom line: I enjoyed the story and characters. The series has promise. For me, this is really a 3.5 star review, but these stupid platforms won't let reviewers give half stars. Thanks for an enjoyable escape, Ms. Wrye!

I quite liked this story. The plot was complex with lots of lovely plot twists. The reason I have only given this story 3 stars is not because I didn't like the concept; however, I think that the execution needs some work. If this story had been edited for content more effectively it would have deserved 5 stars. One example of this is when a character says one thing like (paraphrasing) - He should have done his job and killed your father. And two lines later - We wanted your father where he belongs rotting in a cell. In the context of this conversation, he can't want both of these things - they appear to be diametrically opposed. There are several instances like this.

One of the characters is suffering from amnesia and I understand why her chapters are written from a confused and anxiety ridden standpoint; however, unlike Dani, Bishop has all his memories and still it sometimes seems like he is confused. Don't get me wrong I understand that the author doesn't want to give away too much too soon, but better foreshadowing wouldn't have been unwelcome.

Overall, I would recommend this story to people who like complex novels. The plot was good and the idea was intriguing.

Sexy, Suspenseful, and Just Fun Enough

This is a really fun, exciting, suspenseful story!
Dani wakes up without a memory but with a hot and mysterious husband and strange men wanting to kill her. She has to piece together what happened and what she's going to do before she ends up dead. That's the basic synopsis. I don't want to say any more because a lot of the fun of this story is going on Dani's journey of discovery of WHO and WHAT she was before her memory loss. Let's just say Dani has had a really interesting life, and her husband Bishop is a big part of that.
Bishop is a great hero. Or antihero? Because sometimes he's a jerk. But he's so motivated by his love for Dani that you can't help love him. He's also so dreamy and his chemistry with Dani is smoking.
You won't put this book on your top favorite books of all time. It's a popcorn book, a book you read to enjoy and have fun during, but one that won't necessarily stick with you. That's okay. I love popcorn books. Fool's Gold is recommended for anyone who wants to spend a few hours in a different, sexy, suspenseful world that's still ultimately light and fun.

Heads up: my release version contained two novellas (that had to be read in order) as a bonus. This means the actual Fool's Gold story ends at 55% in. Just thought people would like to know!

Well I can say with one hundred percent honesty that my first read from Natalie Wrye had more twists and turns than I ever expected. The Bodyguard started with a literal bang and I just had to know what happened.

I liked how things kinda went in reverse for Bishop and Dani and that I was playing catch-up trying to sort out all the pieces. Much like they were. I could feel the tension in their back and forth. But I could also feel the love they had for each other.

This book was intense and from one chapter to the next I had no idea who was one of the good guys or not. Heck, even Bishop's loyalty came into question a time or two. Especially when his big (and I mean massive) secret was revealed. It threw everything that Dani thought she knew spiraling again and I wasn't sure how or if there was a way back from it. Talk about edge of your seat, heart racing, reading furiously to find out what would happen.

This story had my attention from the beginning. Dani and Bishop will draw you in and have you hooked. Their story takes you for a wild ride. There's so much to this read that you'll be on edge trying to unravel the mystery and figure out what's happening. Its got action, suspense, mystery, and so much more. It's an excellent must read.

A lot of running and new place. Dani tries to remember and Bishop tries to keep her safe. But can they really stay out of reach of the FBI and mafia. Even going back to US they aren't safe. The ending will shock and surprise the reader.

This book was so hard to rate and review. I'm going to sound crazy but the parts I liked, I really liked. The story, the main characters, the mystery, the suspense, the surprises. They were great. But what I didn't like, I really didn't like. There seems to be pages missing. The story jumps a lot, like hours and days and years. The whole time that he's her bodyguard is like five years and it barely gets 2 sentences. Her whole hot 2 minute fantasy sequence goes on for pages. I kept paging back to see if I skipped pages and the story just jumps. No explanation. No back up and fill it in later. Just skip. And then more story and skip again. I feel like I only read half of the book, heard half of the story, and know about half of what happened. It was a great story but the editing and writing really ruined it for me. Sigh!

Dani si risveglia e non si ricorda nulla, soprattutto di suo marito Bishop. Sa solo che suo marito molto probabilmente fa un lavoro pericoloso, che implica l'uso di una pistola, che qualcuno li sta cercando e che per il momento è una prigioniera in casa. Sta cercando di recuperare la memoria, ma non sa cm fare e soprattutto non sa di chi fidarsi. Azione, amore e suspense tutto in un unico mix. Scritto tramite i punti di vista dei due protagonisti.
