cute enemies to lovers story

It's a cute enemies to lovers story. The problem is that you know that they will end up in bed together, so I kept searching for signs. The beginning was a little slow, maybe because it's written at the first person from the heroin point of view. Once I was into the story, I kept on reading to see when she would understand that Josh was in love with her. That part was enjoyable, but once they finally get in the sack, I was a tiny disappointed. It's not that I need very detailed hot scenes, but her banter about how good he made her feel was much too long and trying too hard to avoid being explicit. Without spoiling the end, it was a pity that I figured out that part long before the end. Nevertheless, I think this story could be a charming movie rom-com.

This book is easy to read but I found the story not very insteresting.
It's easy to know how it will end and the isn't lot of suspense
I'm sure that I won't even remember the story in a few months....

It took me a bit of time to get into it but once I was I couldn't let go.

I saw all the plot twists coming but I still wanted to find out how come Luci da wasn't seeing it.

For a first novel it's a definite success.

It’s really rare for me to watch a film before I have read the book but that is exactly what happened with The Hating Game. I had already seen the film when Gemma and I decided to buddy read it. Apart from a few minor details I was impressed with how accurate to the book it was.

Lucy aka Shortcake a nickname given to her by Josh due to her parents owning a strawberry farm, is unable to stand up for herself with everyone it seems except Josh. Mortal enemies and now in competition with each other, they are fighting for a lucrative promotion both literally and figuratively. The agreement being that the one who doesn’t get the promotion has to resign so the stakes are high.

Set in a merged publishers it is still very much the two companies on separate sides. One being all about the creative the other just about the numbers. Maybe they could learn something from each other! If they would just stop hating each other long to do it.

This book is all about the characters. Lucy is a tiny, adorable, Smurf collecting people pleaser whereas Josh comes across as an aloof, rod stuck up him bum, fear monger. As the saying goes though there is a very fine line between love and hate.

I absolutely loved the enemies to lovers trope in this book. The chemistry was scorching hot and the tormenting and teasing between the two was a lot of fun. I will also add that one part in the film (the mirror scene) I didn’t really get until I read the book and had the lightbulb moment. It was so subtle in the film it didn’t quite work but the book made it a real aw moment. So while both are brilliant as always the book was better!

The Hating Game was an addictive read and a lot of that was because of Joshua Bloody Templeman! There were so many times this man had me swooning - the elevator, paintballing and playing nurse just to name a few. It's a great take on a few of my favourite tropes - grumpy/sunshine, office romance, enemies to lovers. And I liked Lucy, with her quirky outfits and her friendliness. But I didn't love her. I think at times her actions just went a little too far and that made me cringe. I mixed this up between audio and eBook and finished it within a couple of days. It's a great read and I get why it's popular. This was my first book by Sally Thorne and is gladly read more of her work!

I have been meaning to read this book for a while, so I finally got some time and read it.

Josh and Lucy work together at a publishing house and they simply can't stand each other. Always playing some sort of games. A promotion becomes available that they both agree that whoever gets it, the other one need to quit.

I have to admit, I loved Josh and Lucy. Their chemistry and sexual tension was everything. Also, I loved all the banter between them and all the bickering. I also loved them as individuals - Lucy was this nice girl, who wanted to please everyone. Josh on the other hand, he has always been this uptight person, who with the help of Lucy, transforms into a different person.

I do have to admit, that I didn't like the fact that we don't know where the book takes place. I love knowing the places, so that I can get an overall picture.

However, if you're in the mood for a enemies-to-lovers, office romance. I definitely recommend it.

It was a fun quick pace story, I laughed out loud more than once.
I think most of us once or twice have been in Lucy's place, working with someone that seem to be doing everything in their power to make your life a living hell. Thinking of this person gets the promotion I'll quit for sure because I just can't work under them.
Everyone have had someone in school or work that brings the worse part of us, maybe more than they intend.

But what happens when you realise you got it all wrong, you don't actually hate them, and that really strong feeling is not hate anymore and even more you have things in common, you value the same things you're capable of the same love... It can be scary.

My only problem with this book is how fixated on his body she is. The guy is pouring his heart out and she's only thinking of how does he's muscles look under a hoodie or a shirt how big and how overall gorgeous he is. Hmm, I don't feel is believable for that long, obviously is fine at the beginning but it doesn't stop not even after she loves him...

Putting that a side is a laugh out loud romcom, perfect for when you want an easy read!

Well I think everyone knows except Josh and Lucy what their love hate work relationship would mean. Now they are both up for the same job, each of them trying to outdo the other. It gets a bit silly at times, what is behind Josh’s behaviour? Josh is cold and cutting while Lucy is nice but can more than hold her own. They say there is a fine line between love and hate, but for me the book gets better towards the latter end when we find out why Josh is the way he is

I notice that this is now a film on Amazon prime, I will probably take a look

Okay, so: I bought this book because of the good discount and amazing reviews. I wasn’t expecting much, at all. Yet, even though it is predictable and full of clichés, is incredibly well written which makes it a page turner. Both characters are likeable and believable, and even though you clearly know the story will have a good ending (like any romcom), you still want to know how that will happen (like any good romcom).*

*Just don’t make my mistake of watching the film afterwards, because that’s beyond terrible.
