cute enemies to lovers story

It's a cute enemies to lovers story. The problem is that you know that they will end up in bed together, so I kept searching for signs. The beginning was a little slow, maybe because it's written at the first person from the heroin point of view. Once I was into the story, I kept on reading to see when she would understand that Josh was in love with her. That part was enjoyable, but once they finally get in the sack, I was a tiny disappointed. It's not that I need very detailed hot scenes, but her banter about how good he made her feel was much too long and trying too hard to avoid being explicit. Without spoiling the end, it was a pity that I figured out that part long before the end. Nevertheless, I think this story could be a charming movie rom-com.

This book is easy to read but I found the story not very insteresting.
It's easy to know how it will end and the isn't lot of suspense
I'm sure that I won't even remember the story in a few months....

Lucy works opposite Josh every single day. They do the same job. They play the same games. Lucy hates Josh and Josh hates Lucy. Welcome to The Hating Game.

I was sooooooo convinced that I would love this as so many people do. Unfortunately I was left very disappointed. It irritated the hell out of me. These people (who are pretty high up in the company might I add) do 0 work, they just play games with each other all day. Lucy's password is something like IHateJosh4eva - really?! I know it is a bit of fun but I just found it really frustrating.

Also - Josh does some weird things which didn't sit well with me. He loses the plot a little whenever Lucy deals with her colleague Danny in a way which I didn't find ok. I actually found him a little controlling. And, the colour of his room? One word - weird.

Lucy's inner dialogue is something I also struggled with, its pretty erratic and sometimes I got myself confused with what I was reading and had to re-read it.

I just didn't get it, they both say and do very weird, childish things throughout. Yes there were some super cute moments and these are the reason I ended up giving it 3 stars but overall, I was very underwhelmed.

BUT, I have a feeling I will love the film (LOL)

light fun predictable read

I don't normally read romance but its a genre I'm trying out.
This is my first read of the Enemies to lovers trope (MLF). Its about two people who work in a book publishing company as assistants to the co-CEOs. They work in the same room and as the trope suggests we witness hatred to love from both particpants.

I would say this is a character driven plot, things happen in the plot but we mainly focus on the characters, as I'm new to romance I'm not sure if that is whats common or not.
I found this to be a slow paced book for the first half of the book with the author lingering on the hatred the female had toward the male. The second half of the book is a lot more fast paced with things starting to happen.

I really enjoyed this book as a light, fun read. It wasn't my favourite but it has definitely made me want to try more romance books. There is one or two steamy-esque scenes nothing too much but very predictable. I found it a little annoying that they were both described as having bodies like models but we are meant to believe that the main female was perceived as a nerdier girl. I think most people would like this book and will probably enjoy the aspects I have mentioned. But for me it was a good read but not great.

This book was a super easy read, addictive and kept you interested. I finished it really fast and was constantly wondering what would happen next.

I don't think this is an "enemies to lovers" because honestly Josh straight up bullies Lucy and then everyone thinks its okay after lol

This could have been higher rated but Lucy drove me insane, I got the ick for her when she saw Josh’s apartment for the first time and was being all intense and weird. And when she kept sniffing him it gave me second hand embarrassment like no other.

I felt nothing - no connection with either character emotionally. No tears. Nothing. It really disappointed me considering how hard the book was to put down. I liked the writing style more than the characters.

I am not usually a fan of sex scenes in books but I really enjoyed these and think they were written really well, unlike some very cringey ones I’ve read in the past.

Overall, a bit disappointed but an entertaining read nonetheless.

I love this story, really and truly. The characters are amazing and their journey is heartwarming. I also love a slow burn, but this was too much. Over halfway through the book and we still haven’t had any real intimacy between these two adults. It reads childish and extremely YA in parts, the line between being a sexy, adult story and a teenage, YA fiction merged too often. The protagonist sometimes acts in a way that has my skin cringing, I understand the complexity of emotions, but it just screams “a 14 year old meltdown over nothing” to me. After all that tension and that long, long, long build up, the juicy chapter where they finally come together missed depth. By that, I don’t mean it was short and sweet, snapped off or clipped, there was a lot of text, but little of it was mature and filled with passion, like the rest of the book intends to flow. Overall, a good read, maybe on a beach with a margarita when you’re only half paying attention.

Non-removable sticker printed on the cover

The book itself is in excellent condition. However it should be known that there is a shiny, non-removable sticker on the print of the cover. I checked all other reviews first and was convinced it didn’t have the eye-sore, so I’m quite disappointed to see it splattered on the cover as it doesn’t match the dynamic of the colour scheme.
I look forward to reading it but would much prefer a sticker that can be removed as it really does ruin the whole appearance.

I struggled to get into this story at first, the oneupmanship between Josh and Lucy was endless and quite wearing to read. I found the first half of the book a chore but the second half flowed really well and I started to enjoy the quick witted interaction between the two of them and understand what made them behave the way they did. The highlight was undoubtedly the one-sided conversation between Lucy and Josh's father.
In all honesty, I didn't laugh out loud but I had a few quiet smiles, a good book to read in front of a roaring fire with a hot drink or a glass of wine.

Didn’t finish the book. Was just like zero to 100 with all the sexual attraction and no build up. Don’t understand the hype really there was no substance. The Spanish love deception is so much better for a work place romance.

Enemies to lovers trope simples really. A nice easy reading romcom. Total cheese on toast but did have a few gags in there for the comedy element I found Lucy's inner monologue a tad bit repetitive and immature at times.

This is a very readable book; there are no slow parts to it so you’re never left feeling like you’re working hard to get through a part. But the conversation, while probably being pretty realistic to life, comes across often random at times to read and I kept having to stop to think of the context and how it would come across in that moment which ruined the flow. The build up to certain scenes often ended with moments which fell flat because of casual and randomly placed speech interspersed into it. Enjoyed reading it overall but I can’t say it’ll have a lasting impression on my mind.
