I’m always utterly and completely intrigued by the amnesia troupe. The psychology behind it and the absolute heartbreak the authors can make you feel genuinely fascinates me.
This was definitely a good attempt at the troupe. I definitely feel with it being an older book (came out in 2014) that perhaps this was some of the authors earlier work. There were a few typos and editing issues but mostly it just felt “young” it felt unpolished.
That’s not to say it was bad, because I didn’t think it was. I liked Leith and unlike a lot of the lower rated reviews I also like Zach.
For me there was just something missing that made the book feel amazing.
The characters, the story, even the medical stuff (although the author explains her reasoning behind this in her Authors note at the end of the book) just felt surface deep, I think they all need fleshing out, they needed more depth.
Overall though not a book I’ll likely remember it was an enjoyable read.

I do like the story,but any time someone cheat’s that one thing I hate,my man had amnesia,he was not dead,he wasn’t terminally I’ll there is no reason to cheat and in today circumstances it’s so easy for people to think it’s alright,buts it is never right,on that note the HEA is good but if it was me I wouldn’t have took him back

So. I love the amnesia thing, it usually follows with a mighty angsty plot and to some degree this could be said about this book. Though the person I loved in this book was Leith, he was struggling so much and got himself through the labyrinth that was his new life.
And with so little help from his friends and family, because damn, they were hardly helpful at all. You don't help someone regain their memory by not telling them about who they used to be.

Zack is a different story, while I felt sorry for him, he went through a lot with this, he wasn't a very good boyfriend. And I'm not talking about the cheating, I understand sorrow and what it can do to a person.
It's just his behaviour, he seemed to be putting himself first even though Leith was the one having problems. I had no true connection to the two at the end. It was just a lot of sex and hardly any talking.

And don't get me started on the fact that after all the hinting about it. WE DON'T GET TO KNOW HOW THEY MET! There was clearly a ton of ansty stuff that happened while Leith figured out his whole gay thing, and yes it wasn't who he was now. But it would still have given us a chance to see who he was compared to who he is. And it annoyed the hell out of me.

Parts are delicate and artistically spun while other parts smack you over the head with grief/joy/etc
Asks big questions like who are we and what makes us who we are, but also reminds us that life is simple.
However, I had trouble with Zach’s character. I kept waiting for him to be a bad guy. The vlogging this was odd and whiny. He technically cheats. He just come across as a bit of a douche.
I love this author, but this one was a miss for me.

I usually love the memory loss premise, but for some reason this book didn't really capture me.

I didn't really care that there wasn't an overwhelming focus on the amnesia (though I would have liked a bit more), but everything with Zach felt a little too easy (at least initially). All of that I could live with, and then: The Big Misunderstanding happened, and my opinion of the book went downhill from there.

I appreciated the originality of this story (another reviewer mentions "the amnesia trope" but I haven't actually read many romances with this trope) and the genuine - and sometime heartbreaking - effort the author made to delve into the emotional turmoil of both MCs. I even liked the device of Zach's vlogs to communicate his point of view. But that's exactly where the novel fell down for me and brought a possible 5 down to a low 3 - Zach. I just couldn't like him. It must be extraordinarily painful when the person you love with all your heart doesn't remember you, particularly when that person took you for granted when they were cognizant. Zach, however, was so caught up in his own turmoil - even to the extent of cheating - where was his support for the man he supposedly loved so much? He gave up on Leith so fast, jumping into despair so quickly. What a wimp. A hypocrite, even. Your lover just lost a big chunk of memory and you can't keep it together (or keep your hands off another guy) for even 2 weeks? Leith wasn't very likeable all the time in his "previous" life but at least he wasn't a hypocrite.

I likes this story but as I read further, it dawned on me that the author must have been a fan of the German soap opera, Verboten Liebe. The characters are very similar to Christian and Ollie in the soap opera. Christian was the otherwise straight boxer who fell in love with Ollie, a very out waiter who later becomes co-owner of a bar with Christian's brother. Sound familiar? I'm inclined to say that this is definitely VL fan fic. Check out the series on YouTube.
