1,0 sur 5 étoiles The worst one yet!

I don’t even think it was editing for accuracy. How are you a vampire and have the gift of speed for sex and carrying people around quickly, but in a battle, you’re stabbing nymphs one by one instead of speeding through and stabbing many as quickly as possible?
How do you have elemental magic to build moss beds, clothes, fancy decorations, but in a battle against nymphs (who are untrained in their stolen magic) and not use water to freeze them in place while stabbing their hearts or beheading them or even exploding them; earth magic to drop a horde of them into the ground where you can either freeze or burn them; air magic to create mini tornado to throw them in the nearby lake and freeze them or carry them further away to crash to their deaths?
It’s quite obvious the authors lack knowledge on preparing for battle or even imagining battle itself. Very rarely during the time spent in The Burrows was any kind of intel about what was going on outside ever brought to the team, if it was you could tell it was an afterthought and only thrown in to advance the plot. But what you will find a lot of is pointless talks about silly meaningless things coupled with a mere mention of the coming war, but then it jumps right back to what someone is wearing or lots of sex with one of the twins.
Lance’s whole Power Shaming thing was drug out ridiculously as if there was no solution for it. If it was a trial that led him to being power shamed by a judge then him filing an appeal with the information that phoenixes cannot be dark coerced should have reversed his sentence. If a judge can pass that judgement, then a judge should be able to remove it. Stupid.
Seth and Caleb’s situation was egregiously long and the inner thoughts from their POVs just repetitive no matter where it was in the story. Just like others, the authors seemed to have forgotten things that had already happened or been said or done between them and wrote something contradictory to what they had already written. That happens so much! OMG!
Tory is written to hate and despise the stars so much and talks so much crap about them that it’s ridiculous when she begs the stars for something or makes someone do a star magic binding or whatever. If you don’t believe in them, how could you use them to seal your bond? 🤔

And my final peeve (at least that I can think of) is the fact that in a world that believes in the stars, sun and moon and worships and prays to them… how in the hell can they have and celebrate CHRISTmas!!!????!!!!!??!! I think Caleb said back in another book how he had gotten used to Tory saying “thank god” and such and thought it must be some mortal deity. (By the way, typo in there where he says “god-damned… something”). But anyway, I could see if it was on a whole other day in winter and call Starmas or Starday or Fateday…Nebular Day… you know, something related to their world and not the mortal one. Why would the celebrate a day dedicated to a “mortal deity”?

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Seriously?!

I want to start this review by saying I LOVED the first series with Elise and her RH. Not normally the kind of story I like but it was so well written and I fell in the love with characters and the plot movement and world creation was phenomenal!!

Then come these books in the second series that appear to be like 5-10 years later. I was so excited to delve into this series because of the teasers from the first one. Boy was this such a let down.

First of all, I totally love when an author gives you just the right amount of disaster and ruin to make you angry and frustrated......but that is ALL THERE IS IN THIS SERIES!!! There is no good to balance the bad. NO ONE is getting any wins, only the antagonists in 7 WHOLE BOOKS. Give and take would be fine....but there is only take and no give to the point that I've lost interest in the plot because the plot got up and walked out.

I usually love when a series has multiple books because if the author does a good job of pulling you into a well written and created world with good characters and plot movement, you keep coming back for more and want to stay in that world. Not the case here. By book 5 I was literally just skimming pages to find out what the next awful thing to happen to our characters was. I literally stopped caring about anything other than finding out how they were gonna end it. I don't care how many times the stars cross these characters anymore, but after 7 dang books....I just want to skip to the end and find out how it ends because my OCD will not let me quit in the middle.

I love these authors....I normally eat up everything they put out.....but this? This is a total fail for me. It's not even a yo-yo....it's just a long drag down into the depths and it's depressing, not interesting anymore.

All of this second series gets a 1 star from me....it would have gotten a 3 because the characters were at least well done (I love them all!!) but by book 7 I'm so dang let down that I can't even care what happens anymore. 😭

I'll wait till it ends and just skip to the last page to appease the bookworm in me that can't just quit in the middle. Gotta have that closure one way or another.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles These Books Sucked!

DNF: I loved the characters and the story had such great potential. I stopped reading the book at 60% and I just looked up spoilers of what happened instead. I am so glad I did not keep reading as all of the bad stuff would have made me want to cry for the characters and be mad at the authors for letting the story go that way (despite all the supposed power and awesomeness from the main characters and their friends/supporters). The constant bullying, too many intimate scenes, and everything going wrong (the authors are very mean!) all made me not like this series. I gave up on hope that there would be any good things happen or a happy ending. I will not be reading anything from these authors again.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Misery with a vortex of lost hope. Then repeat.

I’m never reading these books again or anything from these authors. I’m not sure why I’m even bothering to finish this series. I find every book desperately unsatisfying. When things are awful, somehow they manage to get worse. I’ll save everyone the trouble of reading these books by telling you the misery of these books are like a vortex of lost hope. That’s the format. Very similar to Game of Thrones. Torture, crush hope, and repeat so that the pathetic reader who so desperately seeks satisfaction will continue to purchase these books.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Don't bother

Huge disappointment. I don't even know where to begin. First of all the book is way to long, only the last 100 pages are filled with action but action that is all negative. At this point it's not even worth waiting a year to read the next book, seriously a year? The 1st 400 to 500 hundred pages is like they forgot they were preparing for a war and just living their life. There is way too many Povs. I could of done with a lot less Povs from Seth, Caleb, Max and Gerr. Not a huge fan of where Seth and Calebs relationship went, didn't make any sense to me . Xavier is another character that took a weird turn. Then only got worse at the end. Last, why so much negativity at the end of the book? Orion? Darius? Catalina? And Hamish? Was just unnecessary and extremely disappointing. They are no where near redemptions any more than they were at the beginning of the book, not one win. It's like they took 100 steps back. Anyways huge warning with this book prepare to be disappointed. Smfh

This series was so great but the authors tried to drag the ending. I mostly skimmed this book and have decided not to finish the series. It should have ended with this book.
I Will never read a book by these authors again.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Gone completely down hill

This series took a complete turn for the worst. Some of the storylines are juvenile, the characters are immature and some of the sex scenes are not my thing, some of which are cringe-worthy. And to top it all off, there are SO MANY grammatical errors it is embarrassing.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Poorly edited
Commenté aux États-Unis 🇺🇸 le 12 janvier 2022

This book was so poorly edited. There were parts in the book where it seemed like they wrote the same paragraph three different ways to see which wording they liked best then just forgot to take out the extra paragraphs. I had to start skimming the book because it was taking so long to read. Five whole pages to describe a room is insane. This book could have been half as long as it was if they had just had someone edit it for them. Also there was a whole lot of filler and not enough content. The whole book was building up to a battle then they didn't even finish the battle. This should have been the last book in the series. I will be buying the next book to skim quickly and find out what happens to the characters but I'm not spending 2 weeks on it like I did this one. I got to the end and was filled with a major regret for having read it.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Starts well..... Then..

Very exciting and new in first books. But... Books 7 and 8 becomes repetive, rambling, same old sex. The book 8 ends in a massive cliff hanger. It is as if authors ran out of story and stopped writing. I will not be reading anymore Peckham s books. I will not be recommending them at all because after 9 books one ends NOWHERE.

1,0 sur 5 étoiles Too much immature filler
Commenté aux États-Unis 🇺🇸 le 20 février 2022

I read all of the prior books in this series with interest and eagerness. The plot flowed and characters developed nicely. The best books have characters that grow and the reader has a vested interest in their outcome.

This book, however, the plot line wasn’t only stagnant, but devolved completely into about 750 pages of childish high school drivel that wasn’t present in the prior books of the series. The flow of the book was chaotic, swapping characters POV so randomly that the parts I did stomach through at more than a skim I often had to go back to the beginning of the chapter to see who it was even about.

I am so disappointed with the deep plummet in quality of this book that I doubt I will attempt to stomach the last one except to skip to the end to get closure.

Disappointing end-game to an otherwise excellent series.
