Really enjoyed this book 1. Just realised I hadn't read it. So I read this in 2 sessions, last night and this afternoon. It was a good pageturner and an easy read. Couldn't put it down just had to find out what happens next. Great characters. Just as steamyand funny as the others and good to have a happy ending. Don't know why I didn't read this first. The ending triggered my memory of book 2. Great fun as always.
Three times a bridesmaid, never a bride. That was how the old saying went. But Keira hadn't been a bridesmaid just three times. All her friends had entered an exciting new chapter in her life, and she had been left behind, desperately seeking another roommate as her last one tied the knot. When Rory arrived at her door she wasn't what Kiera expected at all, mainly because she wasn't a she. This godly Adonis was all male, but unfortunately he was all playboy too, and Kiera had fallen for his charms the moment their eyes had met. Determined to win him over she tries to play him at his own game, but when every past relationship has left her feeling she has nothing to offer, can she really offer a playboy enough to get him to change his way?
Playing a Player is an amazing romcom written by Ivy Smoak. I first read this book last year, and it is one of those reads that stays with you. I don't remember the last time I laughed, cringed, and grinned at a book this muck. The chemistry is Smoaking hot (yes I went there) A common trait in all Ivy's books is you fall in love with the characters and become so invested in the plot that its hard to tear yourself away, the Sweet Cravings series is no different. You're gathered in a whirlwind of excitement and emotion that leaves you hungry for more. Sexy, fun, and engaging, this book has everything to offer from mischievous hunks to heart wrenching moments. I rarely reread books, but I'm currently finishing my second round of all of Ivy Smoak's books. If you haven't picked up on of her books yet, don't wait any longer.
i originally read this last year on KU and have since purchased it.
When I started reading Playing A Player I had that voice in the back of my mind telling me it was going to be similar to stories I’d previously read under the same genre but I was wrong.. Quickly I fell in love with Keira and how she is written because not all 26 year olds are mature sexually confidant things, she’s bashful, her filter doesn’t work when she really needs it to and she’s beautifully awkward. I adored all of the other characters, Keira easily fits in with Rory and his friends, the bond she formed with them was something I feel she needed in order to give her that extra bit of confidence in herself as a person. Rory at times was a bit of a jerk, he’s a player but still I couldn’t help love his character. This story made me laugh to the point of tears which has never happened, it made me actually cry, twice and at one stage I had to put it down on my lap to give myself time to process what was happening because I couldn’t believe she got under that darn table – when you read it you will know, it was just so brilliant. I read Playing A Player in one sitting. It is easily one of the most enjoyable books I’ve ever read. I would highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a funny, sexy and enjoyable read. Ivy Smoak is a new favourite author of mine after this for sure. The only bad thing I could say about it is that it ended.. As the 98% mark I was dreading going to the next page because I knew the end was near!
Loved this book. I saw the note from you Ivy. You are right I thought about New Girl while reading this. Keira has had roommates but they never last because they end up getting married. Keira put an ad for a roommate. A few people responded. Rory showed up and she couldn’t believe Rory was a guy. She let him know she had other people to interview. Rory was the only normal person. She went to the restaurant he works at and told him he could move in. She couldn’t believe she told him yes. When she told him yes his friends Connor and Jackson became a package deal. This was her first time living with a guy and rules had to be made. She didn’t know he would have different women every night and she had to listen to him and whatever woman he was with all night. Conner Rory’s best friend hit on her and Rory didn’t like it. Rory was scared of relationships after his old girlfriend cheated on him. He has done one night stands ever since. Keira has issues with relationships also. She got mad and pitched an idea about an article about what she has gone through. It turns out her editor wanted a series for this idea and attached her photo to the articles. I didn’t think they would make it. It a good story
Ivy knows how to write steamy scenes and how it is possible to find happiness when it feels like it will never happen. Kiera is feeling disappointed in her life. She just went to the wedding of another one of her friends and her roommate so now she has to find a new one. So when she answers the door the next morning still in the bridesmaid dress she is surprised to find a guy. And not just any guy but the most handsome guy she has ever seen and who she instantly attracted to. Which is why she can't pick him as her new roommate. But after a list of bad applicants, she has no choice. Hopefully it won't come back to bite her.
Keira and Rory are fun loving roommates that end up falling for each other. The player and the good girl. With the wolf pack group of Rory's friends take Keira in. A little love triangle starts to form. Keira falls for Rory and gets help from his friend Conner to help her snag him. The rollercoaster between these two is so much fun and the banter makes it even better!
