So I have been super nice leaving reviews even if the book doesn't do it for me. This is the first book I read from this author, and I will the next one in the series out of curiosity but I have to be honest. I read a lot of dark romances and I actually read more misogynistic quotes in this book than the ones with alpha-holes. The steamy parts were 🔥 but at odds with the character's personality. Keira was 26 going on 16, huge self esteem issues, not seeing red flags, desperate, insecure, and the list goes on. I could not identify one single bone of mine with how terrible her thinking was. There were also some kinda homophobic remarks, "he says a lot of gay things," that entire premise seemed so strange. The way Rory was describing how to get a guys attention was soooo sexist bad, like cringe worthy. The steamy parts give it a two star, but the actual romance lacked so much it really didnt deserve stars, because if a younger girl reads this at 18 she thinks its ok for a guy to behave like this and then propose at the end, I mean come on. There wasn't a clear timeline either, and not getting Rory's point of view leaves a big question mark on how exactly he processed the entire situation, one min he is banging every girl the next he decides he is head over heels in love? Also the whole thing about her feeling behind from ther friends excusing her thirst? Like really? Love yourself first man, it was typical legally blonde b.s. romance and even ELLE had self esteem. Either way if you like these type of romances they are extremely unrealistic and if you are a young girl please do not do anything this girl did its terrible.

I really really wanted to love this book But every time I read that Rory slept with yet another girl I liked him less an less (& he slept w/a lot of girls)
So Keira’s friend/roommates each & everyone got married one by one leaving her needing a roommate. So she posted an ad to get one & one of the people who answered to the ad was Rory. So even though she felt an attraction towards Rory (& I can only say Keira felt attraction- since this is only her POV- which sucks) still accepted him as her roommate. There were no ground rules set so he was Able to walk in his underwear & have his friends over w/out no respect for other people.
So finally they slept together even tho he made it clear this was just to get it out of the way & they can continue with their friendship. I don’t think Keira is very smart or have any backbone in her body. She just goes along with the flow & when she gets nervous she gets diarrhea of the mouth which everything that comes out of it is a lie!
Some examples of the lies she told Rory:
1- I don’t find you attractive so just let’s be roommate.
2- even tho I wrk from home- I told him I go to the office sometimes
3- she has a crush on someone from the office
4- play strip poker & saying she is fine with it when she is not.
& the list goes on & on & on. I had to stop reading cause I didn’t like either of the characters!
I stopped at chapter 18- when yet again Rory is sleeping with someone else!

A 2-Star rating, for me, is extremely rare. It means that I finished reading a book, but I didn't like it. Usually, I can tell if I like a book or not by the first chapter, and I will toss the book out if it isn't interesting...but in this case, the book started okay. It seemed like your typical romance, full of longing, misunderstandings, and passionate, steamy sex - which is generally how I like my romances.

And then, somewhere along the line, it all fell apart. The book felt like a made for TV romcom - the kind where the characters were so awkward and so cringy in their actions that you feel physically embarrassed for them. There was no depth to the characters, and the pace was a little too quick. Frankly, it would have made better erotica than a romance.

By the time the HEA hit, I gagged. Out loud. Seriously. It was that... well, gross. There are some readers out there that will enjoy this story - and I know there are. They are probably a lot less critical than I am and they can enjoy this story for the entertainment value. Unfortunately, I am not one of them.

I could have sworn I was reading a book about teenagers and not young people in their mid 20s. Rory and his friends acted childish and was inconsiderate at how they just took her apartment without asking. And was a rambling idiot who I couldn't had job working for newspaper. Needless to say I won't he reading other books in this series!

There were super annoying characters. I had to stop reading it; I kept trying to push forward hoping it would get better. My least favorite ivy smoak book. I’ve enjoyed everything’s I’ve read. This book is nothing like her others.

I had to force myself to finish reading this.Just so corny like reading about teenagers. And why does the author have the lead female so stupid that she can't even talk ??? And when she does talk she tells lies because she gets nervous ??? Just stupid. Women are not that dumb so why paint her that way. The sex scenes were not for me. The ice cube thing just made me laugh, it was that goofy. Not a single thing sexy or romantic about this read. Won't be buying anything else from this author.

Kind of disappointing and it felt more like a first stage than a final book.
The main characters actions and thoughts were fairly immature and some of her actions would cause uproar if it was the other way round and Rory did it to her!
I think there was a good baseline of the story but needs work doing to it to make it a 5 star read!

Very unrealistic and it was hard to like both Keira and Rory. They both came off very superficial. I do not care how good looking a guy is, if he's a jerk and a womanizer the likes of Rory, most women are turned off. Six hundred plus hook-ups a year over six years? That's even more hook-ups than Derek Jeter before Hollywood and New York figured out he was spreading herpes to the entire actress and model populous. Gross. And unprotected sex with Rory? Also gross. Keira and her games were just goofy on top of it. Didn't get it and the whole idea was lame.

Sometimes authors can write female characters in a bumbling, funny but you still love them way. Unfortunately, this author wasn't able to write Keira that way. I cringed in embarrassment for her from the first time she opened the door to Rory. And it continued throughout the book. I found her absolutely pathetic. Rory was a jerk to her and yet, she plotted to get him to love her. Why????
They were both supposed to be 26, yet they acted like they were 16 with their immaturity.

I'm about 40% in and I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish. It started out okay, I read the sample and opted to purchase, however, things quickly went downhill from there. At first I found Kiara, the female lead, humorous. Quirky even. But the further I read, the more I cringed. Almost everything she does and says is cringe-worthy. I'm giving a 2 star instead of a 1 star because it's a great concept and it starts out okay, but I was highly disappointed.
