This book was a hot mess. There was NO depth to the characters, the sex scenes were frankly so bad and frequent that I skimmed through most of them. The hero was sleazy, the heroine was unlikable, there was nothing about them that made me care about them at all. If I had to read one more time about how HUGE he was I might have thrown my Kindle across the room. The two best friends were the only thing that SLIGHTLY redeemed any part of this story (SLIGHTLY). These characters are supposed to be grown ups, but I felt like I was reading about a really bad frat party. Some of the scenes were actually uncomfortable to read. And the ending... really! They've known each other a minute and a half and he proposes after epic fights, misunderstandings, lying.... sigh. This is actually the first book I've read by this author, and I'll be honest I don't know that I would read another. I understand the work that is put into writing a book, and I hate leaving reviews like this, but I was never so glad to see a book end. Thank goodness it was free.

She’s one of my favorite authors but I couldn’t get halfway through this book. It was so unrealistic and elementary. The scenarios were not believable at all. First book I have not been able to finish in years.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't finish it. What bothered me was the main characters. The writing style was good and funny at time. But the two mains ruined it for me. At first I thought that Kiera was funny with her obsession over Rory. I figured it would all be in her head and then she was be awkward and gawky with him. So yeah..she was for like five minutes. Then quickly Kiera turned into a desperate insane chick. She basically threw herself at Rory time and time again. I was embarrassed for her. Rory was not likable either. I felt he came across mean, self-centered and too much of a player. He holds a party the moment he moves in without telling her? A nerf gun fight in the middle of the day like he is 12 years old? Also, he rebounded so quickly that I immediately hated him after that. I did not like either of them and I especially did not want them together. Kiera's friend was awesome though. She said a lot of what I was thinking to Kiera. So that was nice. I did not finish the book however.

I don't know if I'll finish this one. A previous critic of this book by another reader says exactly how I feel. Boldfield77 says, "Kiera (the heroine) is in need of a new roommate after losing another to marriage. Rory (the hero) answers her ad. After horrible interviews with all the women who answered she picks Rory to be her roomie even though she’s attracted to him. They make a pact to just be friends but Kiera immediately starts trying to get him to fall for her even though he’s told her he doesn’t want a relationship." I haven't even read a quarter of this and really don't want to finish. Kiera comes off as slightly desperate with letting her new roomie run all over her (poker night every Tuesday, his friends saying get use to us because we'll be here all the time, Friday night parties, flirting with his friends, he's sleeping with other women after she throws herself at him, etc, etc......) all with in the first couple of days.

I don’t think the turn around Rory makes is believable, I still mistrusted him at the end. The proposal seemed really hastily patched together and I was left feeling like it would have been way better if Connor actually won Kiera over. Her “love” for Rory seemed very naive and superficial and she acted more like an infatuated drama queen more than anything. This book needed to build up more tension between the characters more ebb and flow more push and pull…..not my favorite

First book ever by this Author and I'm pretty sure my last. Hated it!

I can't name one thing I liked about this whole book. Both of the main characters were awful, immature.

Kiera is so desperate to get Rory's attention that she does stupid stuff. Rory is a super manwhore.

She claims she can't trust him one second and the next claims he makes her happy, that she loves him. The whole thing between them gave me whiplash. Constantly back & forth, back & forth. Totally unbelievable as well.

The only thing Rory and Keira had going for them was sex and the sex scenes were laughable at best, not hot at all. Rory tried to come off like he was all dominant and it was just stupid.

Keira is annoying, immature and desperate. Rory is pretty much a jerk. The only thing that she likes about him are his looks. I couldn’t even make it halfway through the book. In the little that I read she was constantly throwing herself at him and embarrassing herself. It was just awful.

This book is so bad. I don’t know what the 5 star reviewers read, but it’s not this title. I don’t like leaving bad reviews for books because it’s so subjective; but this story is just cringey and embarrassing for the author. I’ve enjoyed some of Ms. Smoak’s other books, but this was an absolute miss for me. It’s an odd story with unlikeable characters, and it just doesn’t work. Wouldn’t recommend.

The premise of the story was good and had potential but the execution was terrible. The entire story felt empty. There is no connection between the 2 main characters other than physical. As the reader all you get to read is how attractive Rory looks and it appears that the only reason Kierra is attracted to him is because of his looks. The author never flushes out the emotional part if their relationship and the reader is left wondering how they have a connection that is beyond physical. Also Keirra is one of the most annoying main characters I have ever read about.

I really tried to make it through this book but I couldn’t. I understand that Kierra is supposed to represent the awkward around boys female character but she is so cringeworthy. She has no backbone, rambles every other paragraph and is so easily being played like a fiddle by the men in this book. Don’t even get me started on how much of a tool Riley’s character is. I could barely make it a quarter of the way into this book. I’m glad people found it enjoyable because, for me, this was not the move.
