They call him the Ice King.
Owen Montgomery is arrogant and unfeeling—with cold, haughty manners and a British accent sharper than any knife. I’ve been secretly in love with him for years, knowing there’s no way he could ever notice me. The scholarship girl. The poor girl. Until that night in Ibiza . . . until that night we taste each other’s kiss for the first time, and I learned what hot hungers the Ice King keeps hidden from public view. It’s also the night when I discovered that after three years of sharing classes and even friends, Owen still has no idea who I am. None at all.
Pride stinging, I vow to focus only on myself and my future in publishing. But little do I know that I’ve awakened an obsession in Owen that will soon outgrow the halls of Pembroke Prep and spill over into the real world.
Owen wants me, and he’ll stop at nothing to have me. And soon I find myself with an impossible choice. Do I choose the future I always wanted for myself?
Or do I choose the blueblood whose kisses are as brutal as his love?

In Brutal Blueblood it’s the turn of Owen, known as the Ice King for his cold manner and aloofness. Despite having been in classes with Tanith for three years he’s never so much as noticed her before but now that he has every time he opens his mouth he can’t help but put both feet in it. Some of his words almost made me cringe as I read them and then his complete bewilderment about what had he said that was so wrong left me wanting to slap him. Fortunately Tanith, despite being a scholarship girl, doesn’t stand in awe of any of her peers at the school. She’s a girl who knows her own worth. That she is equal to anyone at Pembroke and won’t settle for being Owen’s dirty little secret even if the sexual chemistry between them is electric. Owen really has to work to win her.
I can’t wait to find out what happened last summer in Aurora and Phin’s story coming next.

Holy smokes-this book is scorching hot! With lush beginnings on a decadent yacht vacation in Ibiza, the stony and stoic Hellfire Club playboy Owen finally notices the nerdy but resolute wall flower Tanith. Problem is Tanith has crushed on him for all three years she’s been at Pembroke- they even run in the same circle- so Owen’s suddenly intense affections feel more insulting than victorious since he doesn’t even remember her. Ouch. Undeterred, however, Owen is obsessed with winning over the girl he accidentally hurt- he’s not holding back.
There is a bit of an instalove factor- or more like instalust, but these two are so explosive and compelling together that I bought right into it. Owen is a delicious leading man- the most mature of his friends, a bit haughty, tight laced and so delightfully British. I love nothing more than a cold and unshakeable being brought to his knees by the most unassuming and unexpected of heroines- here a nerdy bookworm who is all ambition and hard working diligence. Owen is just YUMMY- he softens as he works to worship his goddess Tanith, and she cracks his icey exterior to reveal a deeply passionate and sexy man. Unleashed own is magnetic- and MEOW can this boy talk dirty. Tanith is equally as delightful- an outsider amongst the elite friends she’s found thanks to her scholarship to Pembroke. She’s soft, but she’s also witty and strong- and I love that she knows what she wants and demands it. She makes Owen work for her affection- time and time again- but she also doesn’t deny herself the undeniable draw they have between them. The chemistry feels fated, and even though we have more of a surface level emotional depth, we do have pockets of vulnerability and authentic connection between them. And their physical chemistry MORE than makes up for any emotional brevity- LORD these two are hot together. And, Owen also has some really sweet and swoony moments as he tries to rectify his (many) mistakes when it comes to solidifying his relationship with Tanith. They are as adorable as they are sexy.
This is my first Becker Gray book- and I was really impressed with the writing. The prose is crisp, witty, and really smartly crafted. And the characters are really fantastic. The Hellfire Club guys and the girl gang that embody this world are just so interesting and captivating. I can’t wait for every single characters’ story- young love angst, rich kid shenanigans, and flawed and dramatic characters are a great recipe for an addictive story- and a combination that Becker Gray excels at writing! Looking forward to more from this world!

Anyway, Owen came across like he was going to be this really dark character in the last book and honestly, he was anything but. He's the down-to-earth, trying-to-do-the-right-thing, kind of guy. Tanith, while I think the intention was to have her this hard-working, driven girl, was really kind of needy and immature a lot of the time. I mean the inner dialogue about how she's this scholarship kid started to get old. Did she work hard? Yes. Was she driven? Yes. So why make her literally just bend over when Owen came around? He was awfully rude to her and said some things she should be upset about. But she caved immediately. As soon as she saw him, she was like I know you were rude to me, but let's just have sex. *insert rolling eye* And this is where the book starts to remind me these are high school kids...
I loved the bonus epilogue at the end which is ultimately why I bumped this up to 3 stars. Maybe I'm just in a weird mood because the other two books, I didn't get this feeling from. Either way, I'm committed to the series at this point, so I'm hoping the next book is better.
