Firstly, I’d like to say that the story was interesting enough for me to read it front to back almost in one sitting, and it was full of new vocabulary and phrases for me which will help me improve my Spanish.
However, I found the vocabulary section incredibly frustrating in its lack of key words. Almost every time I came across a word I didn’t know, I would check the vocab section and it wouldn’t be in there. And yet it does include words such as “agua” and “café”.. words that any beginner would already know.
I had hoped that the “all inclusive” nature of this book would mean that I wouldn’t have to constantly reach for my phone to translate words and phrases, but unfortunately that’s exactly what I ended up doing. Honesty, it wouldn’t even be an hour’s work to add the more specialist vocab, I’m really surprised it was left out.
All in all, the story itself did its job, but the publication as a whole feels unfinished and disappointing as a learning resource.
