Things are definitely getting crazier as this story progresses. There is a lot more sexual tension in this book between everyone, but it is setting it up with a purpose, I guess. Huge cliff hanger at the end and will continue the series.
I haven’t been angry that I’m an adult and I can’t shirk off my responsibilities and read all day for a long time. I’m so engrossed in this series.
The first two books were a little lack luster imo. But I’m really glad that I pushed on to this book. Totally changed my outlook on the series.
The girls still lack logical thinking and the fact that this book is written like the characters are school aged teens but follow spicy adult themes is pretty off putting still. Makes the characters feel very immature.
The first book had me hooked. It ended on a cliff hanger as I’m guessing they all do. I dove right into the second one and it was boring at first then by the time it ended I had to start the 3rd because I was interested again. Definitely going to take a break after this one. I feel like the heirs are completely unlikeable and the 2 sisters are kind of whiny and are becoming less interesting to me.
After three books, I finally feel like something is actually happening other than bullying, sexual tension and elemental fights, even though I thoroughly enjoy reading that as well.
I am a bit disappointed in how the Trials and The Reckoning was written, it felt weirdly rushed and kind of boring, to be honest. The previous books have been planting heavy seeds that the Reckoning is by far the hardest thing for the the students to go through and the Heirs seemed to believe the Twins wouldn’t make it. But then, it was just some (very predictable and frankly overused trope) flashbacks of their lives, and big surprise, they came out scoring the highest points out of all the freshmen. Don’t get me wrong, I like that the Twins are badasses and keep on proving the Heirs wrong, but there’s not much personal growth happening or powers developing either, except for the awesome emerging of their Order at the end of the book (I totally saw that coming in book one, though, just saying).
I hope the other books are a bit more plot-focused, and I wish I could read even more from Darcy’s POV. I mean, Darcy and Orion is what carries this series for sure. #seemeafterclass
This was the spiciest installment of the ZA series so far, and took me through the entire spectrum of human emotion. I won’t add any spoilers, because they drive me crazy, but I’ll say that some things I expected came to fruition, along with many, many more things I did not. I’m so glad the next book is already available, because stopping here would drive me mad.
I’m obsessed with this series and I’ve recommended it to everyone. I hate that it’s taken 3 books just for their orders to emerge but I also understand why it was dragged out a bit. Great book series so far. I enjoy that there is an actual plot instead of being solely focused on the spicy scenes.
The worldbuilding and elemental magic are so good. I'm really enjoying seeing where this story will go. I'm invested in Orion and Darcy. But I just wish that the Heirs would just suck it up and stop being so childish. Can't wait to see what happens next though.
