A « bittersweet » sequel with a radical turn of events…
I needed several days in order to sort my thoughts..
I love this series , Tory and Darius are one of my favorite couple among all my books.
This series is absolutely addicting, enthralling, hilarious and sexy … you see the « but » coming … and I will attract the wrath of the people who adored it but it’s too much ..

This is the 7th book and in terms of winning the war it has never been worse… there is no need to put 99% of the characters in a dangerous situation or to kill them to make a good cliffhanger .. at this stage It’s swaying misery over and over again.. It's a lot of things to settle and people to save for the last book .. (heal, bring back to life, rescue, kill, declare who is sit on the throne (which at this stage would deserve to burn..).

The writing is very good , I laughed a lot.. it’s so stirring !

But I also regret the number of POV which was excessive .. (I would have preferred to have more Darius and Tory 😉, but it’s personal)

❓would I read the last one ? Definitely
❓do I recommend ? Of course
❓will I buy physical copies ? Yes , all of them and especially the edition of @thebookishbox .

It took me days to finally be able to pierce my thoughts on this masterpiece.
Our celestial authors once again outdid themselves.
First of, this book is chunky like really really chunky,, it's a mammoth of a book.
Can you imagine more than 300K in a single book?
The whole book was one of the best if not the best I have ever read.
The first third of the book was exactly what we have all been waiting for since the beginning of the series.
We got answer to question that were asked in way earlier.
Lionel was still is usual villainy self, even though karma started getting him a tiny bit.
Lavinia was more evil and powerful than ever. I don't whom of them I despise more, for now it's a draw.
I highlighted so many passages that I love, some that made me laugh so much, think omg this is so perfect.

The end brought so much heartaches, like the authors probably collected so many readers with only the last chapters of the books that not only they can make a pool out of it but they would be able to open an aquatic resort with only readers tears with most of them coming from this book.
I am perfectly sure that the end of the book not only rip out my heart but it numb my humanity as if I were a vampire in tvd.
My heart took a vacation and swore he wouldn't come back until book 8.

They have a lot of ends to close to reach the Hea but I have full faith (I think)

I have read everything by the sisters at this point and they have quickly become my favourite authors, which is why reading this hurt so much. It was nowhere near the standard that they usually put out and it seems that just because you can write a book in 6 weeks doesnt mean you should. Literally the first 40% was a complete snooze fest, nothing happens and i was just constantly putting the book down it was difficult to get into as there was so much down time with the characters considering the battle they had just finished and the war that is approaching. I was looking forward to seeing the twins further develop their skills and their leadership qualities by becoming more involved with the rebels but that didnt happen at all! The part where the twins had some lime light in developing their talents was majorly understated and rushed. Usually the authors are great at giving comic relief in between angst and action, however they were delivered without the latter and so just fell a bit short. I agree with other reviewers that there were just too many unnecessary POVs from Geraldine, Xavier plus Seth/Caleb. If they arent using these for plot development then keep it to a minimum. Especially Geraldine.....being in her head so much was exhausting.

I have enjoyed this series so far but I did struggle with this penultimate book.

I know it’s a long, dark story but I found myself a bit bored with it all. I had to force myself to continue reading as it was a bit blah and while there were a couple of instances of humour and joy, they were few and far between and didn’t move the story on at all.
There was hardly any balance with the good and the bad, and the bad stuff has gone on and on with little relief or hope!

There’s a LOT of filler in this book which I wouldn’t have minded, had it referenced the previous content - like what was the point of the zodiac guild? What was the point of the quest to find the gems other than a stupid hex being put on Seth? What about the 1st prophecy?
All of that was breezed over and it stalled the plot IMO.

I loved Geraldine in the first few books but her POV chapters were pointless and wow she became annoying!
The whole twins training thing was barely mentioned yet felt like it should be a huge thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m guessing that love has to be the answer to everything as it’s been drummed into us for practically the whole book - we understand how in love these lot are etc etc etc

Something else that really started to annoy me was the use of “as”. There was one sentence where it was used 3 times! There must be other ways to link a sentence together ladies!

I’ll read the final book just cos I’ve invested so much into this series but I really hope it wraps up well cos I currently feel like it’s just too dark for me.

There were lots of moments I loved in the latest ZA instalment, but it felt like the plot was cluttered and fragmented and just generally the book needed a thorough edit. I don’t mind the occasional typo but this was littered with mistakes and it made me feel like the authors had knocked this out and then not done anything else with it regarding edits or proofing. It felt like a lot happened for shock value and at some point this series DOES have to satisfy the reader, whereas it feels like each instalment only casts more doom. The lighter moments like with Darius and Tory/Hamish and Catalina bordered on fan-ficy and because they both happened it felt like emotion lacked. Also the sex scenes and long declarations of love became a bit boring in the end and all started to blur together in their similarity.

Overall, not the strongest instalment of the series and left me feeling frustrated.

What a book!!!

When you think this series can’t get any better…
These authors totally and utterly blow your mind !!!

Not only did I love reading this book I felt like I lived it as I was so completely absorbed and nothing else was more important than reading this book!!!

The emotions I felt reading this book ..gah…

One minute crying my eyes out whilst laughing my arse off at the same time !!!

Then just crying with laughter…

Then crying because my heart is broken and I don’t know what to do…

Book 8 will definitely be my most anticipated book EVER!!! And I for one will be wishing away the year until I get my hands on it!

Thank you Caroline and Susanne for another perfectly magical instalment of my favourite series !

Well where to begin! I have been counting down for this release since finishing the previous book! It was worth the wait and so much more!
This book began to answer some of the questions from previous books. Some of the previous animosities began to be resolved allowing beautiful relationships to develop. However, the background of future heartache continued, keeping me firmly on the edge of my seat. During this time there were plot twists, some dramatic and quick to resolve, some leaving even more questions.
And then everything exploded! The emotions, the drama and THAT CLIFFHANGER! I'm sat here broken hearted on that cliffe wondering how this will ever be fixed!
This book has earnt every single one of those reader tears Caroline and Susanne love to collect! On the bright side they include tears of laughter and happiness as well as the despair! The book is so worth it, so amazing and so a must read!
