It's never easy to post a review when you didn't like a book... I really wish I did 🥺
Starting this book, I was hooked !! The idea of boss/employee kind of forbidden romance was promising, especially in a somewhat dark environment as Gia (the FMC) becomes a stripper and her boss, Trip, gravitates around some illegal businesses and dangerous men.
I really wanted to like it but it felt like everything interesting happened in the first 50% of the book and then it was all very confusing. Especially with all the secondary characters and everything that's going down with Trip and his friends / business partners.
I saw what happens between Trip and Gia at some point coming a mile away, and the happy ending was rushed imo.
I wished we'd seen more of the fierce and sexy Glitter Girl (Gia's stripper name), and that Trip would handle things differently (maybe cut some heads off...
But I think I've read too many mafia/dark romances 😅)
I liked Gia and I'm happy she got her happy ending, she deserves it. But I didn't care as much for Trip, sorry 😬

Giana had to make a tough decision. Moving from Italy to America was not quite what the former ballerina dreamed it would be. Now penniless, recently un-engaged, and on the verge of homelessness, Gia dons a mask and created Glitter Girl as a stage persona at an adult club.
Trip Alexander has a mask of his own, but it is more figurative than literal. He owns the club where Gia works and likes to work in the periphery of organized crime. A fan of never mixing business with pleasure, he now finds himself at odds with his own policy when it comes to the masked beauty on his stage.
This read is a great mix of romance, suspense, and lots and lots of spice. Trip and Gia's story is a multilayered connection that readers get to peel slowly as we go deeper into the read. I love Gia's resilience and grit. After her life losses, she kept pushing through, even keeping her faith in love -- although it is more guarded than before. Learning more and more about Trip was the best part for me. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to him, his club, and his less-than-legal connections, and I enjoyed learning more about his story along with Gia.
This book ranks on the spicier side of the Scoville scale. It does have a V card involved so you have been warned. While Trip brings a lot of the heat between the two, their chemistry as a couple also helps bring the sizzle to the pages.
As a first-timer to this book world, this read did well as a standalone. From my understanding, Trip has made an appearance in a couple of Tia Louise's books, but I did not feel lost with other characters or context as I was going through the read.
