Overall it is not very inspiring. Recipes contain sugar and fructose such as in the form of dried fruit. It is overly reliant on starchy carbohydrates, with many recipes including pasta and rice. And couscous is included which as a semi-refined durum wheat product should not be. Bizarrely bananas are in here too and the fat removed from lamb. Such complete contractions. And finishing with vanilla pears dessert include 120ml of maple syrup.
I am so disappointed with this book which, published by the 'Food Club UK' I would have considered reliable but really is not. Why on Earth is it 89% positive in the reviews?? I'm currently studying a MSc in Human Nutrition and due to this experience will be publishing my own book which follows the Med and DASH diets. Certainly cannot recommend this one in any way, shape or form.

Living a low carb lifestyle means integrating the fundamental principles of a low carb diet into your daily routine. In practice, eating a low carb diet involves increasing the amount of other food groups in your diet, such as proteins, fats, fruits and vegetables whilst simultaneously keeping your carb intake to a minimum.
There are many foods that are very low in carbs and can often provide the basis for “faux” versions of your favourite foods. For example, cauliflower is an excellent substitute for bread a version of low carb pizza and also makes an excellent replacement for rice.
This book sets out the very basis of low carb diets which is the heart and soul of Mediterranean food. Some of the breakfast recepies set out in the book are good.
The ones that stood out for me was the fruit layered yoghurt and eggs benedict. Me being a vegetarian left out the bacon part out of my dish. It was yummy and I enjoyed it a lot. The one that I’m wanting to try are the baked avocado and eggs, baked eggs with cauliflower hash browns ( good replacement for the traditional carb filled potato hash browns), the energy packed dates bar and the Chia pudding.
The book also gives Ten tips that you could follow to have a healthy low carb lifestyle. For me it has been very informative and should you want to make a change in your lifestyle then it should start with what you eat, quantity of intake and how low carb and high protein is it.
The other recepies like low carb pizzas, cauliflower cheese, stuffed garlic mushrooms in the main courses are with trying out. The deserts recepies are also good and are worth giving a try. Overall very impressed with the recepies in the book and I believe it is a good guide to have if you are wanting to bring in a change in your lifestyle.
This book explains all about the Mediterranean diet and how it works, which is brilliant as I hadn’t got a clue about this diet.
The book is really easy to understand and gives you the easiest way to do it.
The book has dome amazing tips and the recipes are absolutely amazing.
This diet is all about fresh produce so it doesn’t have to cost loads days you don’t need to keep buying processed foods.
There is a 14 day weight loss plan already set out for you too to get you started which helps you to understand more about the types of meals you can make yourself.
Excellent book I would definitely recommend this.
