Love is an inconvenience Anna Cavallaro doesn’t have time for.
She only has one goal: to become a fashion designer. Chicago’s elite already copies her style religiously, not least because she’s the daughter of the city’s notorious mafia boss.
When she’s accepted at a world-famous fashion institute in Paris, her father’s condition is to take her bodyguard along.
Anna definitely wouldn’t mind a few weeks of no-strings-attached fun with her brooding protector.
Santino Bianchi became the Outfit’s enforcer because he liked the thrill of the hunt and kill.
Babysitting his capo’s daughter is an honorable assignment he can’t refuse. His thoughts about Anna? Not so honorable.
Santino’s ignored Anna’s persistent flirting for years. Now, far away from home boundaries begin to blur. But Santino doesn’t have any intention to be the reason for a failed engagement and the ensuing scandal.
A summer fling in Paris.
Only two things stand in Anna’s way.
Santino’s iron will.
And… her fiancé.

Oh my god.
I am so in love with Anna and Santino.
I cannot even begin to tell you how perfect BVIF was. It was so much more than what I expected. You should know that Dante and Valentina are hands down one of my all-time favourite couples. So if you haven't read their book yet, please do. I am so obsessed with them and so happy that they are incredible parents. The relationship Anna has with her family truly warmed my heart. I loved literally every single one of their interactions.
The attraction Santino and Anna share is palpable and undeniable. These two were fire together. I loved how sassy and provocative Anna was with Santino. The back and forth between them was so entertaining to read. The side characters, the family moments, the chemistry, the banter… everything was perfect. I am truly in love.
Overall BVIF is a forbidden, bodyguard, mafia princess, age gap romance filled with emotion, banter and passion. The only thing that kept me from giving a 5 star review was the pace. It was sometimes low and then it skipped months. But who cares, really? Oh and little Bea is sooooo adorable omg omg. I cannot wait for the next book.
I highly, highly recommend this book, and this series.
The writer will make you fall in love with all carachters.
The book can be read perfectly stand alone. But you will enjoy it better if you read the entire series starting with Bound by Honor.

Anna is quickly introduced as a fashion conscious, old soul who is very impulsive. Once she has her mind set on something she will acquire it by any means necessary, much to Santino’s dismay.
Whilst this was slightly annoying at the start, and portrays Anna as a spoilt brat, once I begin to understand her it quickly became somewhat endearing.
Her love and loyalty to her family and the Outfit is admirable, this never falters especially not for a man. Both families have very strong bonds with one another, they aren’t shy to display their love and care amongst themselves.
Santino on the other hand is an enigma, he’s more hot than cold. The more you peel back his layers, you discover a soft, gentle heart which makes him a very interesting character. His morals are extremely questionable but once he is committed there is no turning back. His relationship with his father is one of the best we have come across so far. The love his father has for him is pure, brave and unselfish, even whilst battling against himself by protecting his son first.
Far from home, those stolen moments between Anna and Santino completely took my heart and senses away. This book is brimmed with time jumps which flow so subtly that you won’t even realise that so many months have gone by; reading Anna and Santino is very easy, their interactions fly off the page.
They’re extremely captivating and when there’s no one else there, it’s just them together in that world of theirs. As a couple they’re so easy to root for, their chemistry is to die for.
But alas, both are too stubborn to admit how much they’re willing to push for the other. When it comes to these two, there are no boundaries. Happily content in their own little Parisian bubble, the fear of Anna’s upcoming nuptials and reality always lingers over them.
Neither of them are willing or able to put anything above their dedication to the Outfit, for them family is everything. Which leads to the question how can they have the one they crave without hurting those they care about the most?
By Virtue I fall is reminiscent to a light-hearted romcom, with the gushy love scenes, heart burning jealousy and most of all, the angst. Unlike Reilly’s previous mafia romances, the gritty violence takes a back seat. However, that isn’t to say we don’t have brooding men itching to throw around their weight to protect their womens honour.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even more so than I expected to. I laughed, and I cried but in the end I couldn’t have gotten a better ending than this.
As usual Cora leaves me wanting the next book immediately. She has a way of leaving her readers pining for the upcoming books even before they finish the current release. This book has gotten me excited for so many side characters to reveal their own stories, all in due time.
All I’ll say now is… Leonas, I’m ready for you to wreck havoc soon.

Sins of the Fathers Novel
Cora Reilly
POV:Dual
Anna and Santino.
Anna Cavallaro, eldest child of Dante Cavallaro, Capo of the Chicago Outfit. She's a mix of her parents, proud, polite, strong, loving, loyal, and just as cunning. Loves fashion, and loves seeing her fashion trends trending.
From the tender age of twelve she's had a crush on her bodyguard, Santino. From early on she saw through his annoyance of his new position, so, she gives him a run for his money.
Knowing that one day she'd enter an arranged marriage to strengthen the family and the Outfit.
Santino Bianchi, Enforcer for the Outfit. Loyal to his Capo, Dante Cavallaro, loves his family. Loves the brutally of the life. One night stands, no relationships and definitely no feelings or love.
When Dante wants him to protect his daughter, Anna, you don't say no to your Capo.
She's a trouble maker, knows what buttons to push to get a rise out of him. He ignores her flirting. She's a teenager, she'll get over her crush of him.
When Anna and Clifford Clark, a politician's son, are officially introduced as they make arrangements for their upcoming wedding, it's unheard of in the political world, but Clifford seems OK with it.
The two of them agree that they'll have fun with other people, discreetly of course, they don't want a scandal, before they're wed. It's a business arrangement, bringing the political elite and the Outfit closer.
Anna's accepted into a French fashion school. When she's allowed to go it'll give her more freedom away from her parents and people who know her. To be someone else, cause there's no threats there.
She has somethings over Santino, so that he'll go with her to resume as her guard. Reluctantly he goes with her. Promising Dante that he'll protect her with his life, like he's been doing for years. But when her studies are over he'd like to resign as Anna's bodyguard and go back to being an Enforcer. Dante agrees. Three years in France, alone, together. How will they cope?
The two of them ease into life in France. Anna loving France, Santino, getting by. They have a simple life there. Nothing to flashy, not drawing attention to themselves.
Then, they both give into their desires, as long as feelings or any sort of emotions don't arise, they'll have a no-strings attached fling.
As soon as they're back in Chicago they'll go their separate ways, proceed to go on with their lives. And Anna to focus on her wedding.
These two are explosive!
The constant tension, fighting, arguing, it's great!
Luisa and Sofia, Anna's best friends are so lovely. They're her sounding board and work well together.
Leonas, Anna's brother, is a mini Dante in training. Riccardo and Rocco Junior, Leonas' best friends are just trouble when together.
Can't wait for more!

This is Anna and Santino's story and she really knows how to push his buttons. Santino is Anna's bodyguard and has known and protected her for along time. Anna has a dream to become a fashion designer and convinces her father to let her study in Paris with Santino protecting her. Something Santino wasn't very fond of doing. Anna is a very passionate and stubborn woman while Santino is a very protective, controlling man who also wont back down from anyone especially Anna and her advances or so he thinks, he thinks he is in control no matter what. All he wants to do is remain professional do his job and head home only things happen that neither of them were expecting. Anna is already promised to another man in marriage but at this point anything can make things change because all she wants is to have just like he is.
I love how this author writes her characters and how the story flows she always knows how to pull the reader in and grip them until the very end. I loved how grumpy Santino is and it was awesome having the rest f the family to. Anna was a little immature times which did irritate me a tad but I guess that is because she is still quite young but they are still great characters. They had chemistry and stolen moments throughout and this bodyguard romance is a must read.
✅ mafia romance
✅ grumpy bodyguard
✅ forbidden love
✅ age gap

Also I felt Dante and Valentina were represented faithfully. Santino was a beautiful hero and multi faceted. He takes his responsibility to his father and sister seriously and his longing for a deeper bond with Anna, is movingly written by Cora Reilly.
Cora writes credibly about bodyguards and its realistic (I felt Romero was authentically written as well). I also felt better about the future of the Outfit - the new generation are committed and I think they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
There is a closing of the Serafina era and it was much needed. I felt this era took up too much time and space and in this book we see the continuity of the Outfit.
The bodyguard trope was also realistic. It was also much more passionate, sexy and lighthearted than the previous sins book. There is no torture and its much better for it. Dante is one of my favourite characters and I love to see his bond with his children and how much he loves them.

Anna and Santino share a banter relationship and Anna just wants some fun with Santino.
Anna doesn’t want to admit she loves Santino as she is engaged to Clifford and wants to do the right thing for the Outfit.
Santino on the other hand is ready to go against his Capo and do anything for for Anna. Couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for him.
We get introduced to Leonas,Bea,Ricardo,RJ and Luisa in this book.
Bea and Anna share such a cute relationship you can’t help but say AWWWW.
Leonas is a character that really stood out in this book and I can’t wait for By Cunning I Prevail.
I hope we find out who Luisa is married too or a short novella would be great about her and Bibi.
And Valentinaaaaaaaa
She is QUEEN!!!!!!!!! She has always been my favourite.
And as for Cold Fish(Dante) haha he was an amazing father and very understanding.
