Opposites not only attract, sometimes they spontaneously combust.
The Donnellys, Book 1
Ryan Donnelly's past relationship may have failed, but he's determined to make single fatherhood and his career resounding successes. He's got his eye on the top of the ladder at an LA marketing firm when his gaze snags on coworker Maiya Rossini. She's a feisty, witty, tattooed redhead who's nowhere near his type, but she pushes every one of his hot buttons.
Maiya clawed her way out of her dysfunctional, trailer-park childhood to earn a college degree and establish a promising career. Her future dreams are big, bright, and packed with full-throttle fun, but when it comes to matters of the heart and men - especially stuffy corporate types like Ryan - her past slams on the emotional brakes.
In the office and in the bedroom, Maiya and Ryan rub each other in all the right ways. Though Maiya is everything Ryan didn't know he wanted, he's got his work cut out for him convincing her she's worthy of love - or the bright light she's brought to his life could slip through his fingers.
Warning: contains a lot of graphic, yummy sex. To those prone to lock their bedroom doors, fair warning. In this book there are no doors, only windows. With no curtains. For those who aren't afraid to keep their eyes wide open: Enjoy the show!

You have Maiya who is a tattooed, hair colored bad-ass who came from the wrong side of the tracks and still thinks she deserves no less than that life. Even though she has built an amazing career.
Then you have Ryan Donnelly who is an amazing father to a 5 year old who he had to find, after the mother up and left. He also comes from a well off family of 10 siblings. Has an amazing job and the complete opposite of who Maiya saw herself with.
These two are complete opposites who are the definition of opposites attract. The dynamic between them is absolutely amazing and the emotions they run through suck you in and make you want to laugh, cry or yell along with them.
I highly recommend this book!!
Dorothy Shaw really out did herself with UNWORTHY HEART, this start to her new series The Donnellys. I loved the writing, the characters, the story and the flair that is unique to Ms. Shaw.
I loved Maiya, she was strong yet vulnerable, has a great sense of humor while being on the sassy side. Maiya was a very relatable character with all her insecurities, home life and trying to make it in the corporate world, as hard as it was for her Maiya still found a way to stay true to herself.
Ryan Donnelly, well you can just add him to your HOT list!! He's persistent, confident, and yet has that gentleness we all want to see in our leading men. Ryan will melt your heart at the same time whisper lots of hot dirty talk in your ear. Put these two together and their chemistry is off the chart into scorching!!! Although, their journey isn't an easy one you can't help but fall for both of them even at times wanting to yell at your ereader! That's what makes it that much more, to get into the emotional ride these two will put you through and in the end so worth it all!
I have to be honest, there was nothing about this book that I didn't love, from the main characters to the secondary ones, it was well written and leaves you wanting the next book in the series.
Maiya convinced herself with self-sabotaging reasoning that she didn't deserve happiness. That's a real life issue coming from a dysfunctional childhood.
Ryan was a sweet loving man that came from a wonderful loving family.
Two opposites attract and there's fire works with lots of complications. So true to real life.
The story had a touching moment between Maiya and her mother that made the whole story worth reading. Even though the story had lots of narrative chatter that I skipped over it was a very enjoyable read.
