I’m very confused about this book being listed as a Gothic Romance since that’s really playing fast and loose with the term. Not only does the gothic terminology not seem to fit there’s very little in the way of romance here either. It takes a nuanced and talented hand to make an unrepentant domineering alpha not look like an out of date, flat out control freak misogynist a-hole and this one kept missing the mark for me. It was all punishment without any of the spark and nearly halfway in and our heroine is still not even remotely interested in our “hero”. Not my kind of romance- neither gothic, dark, mafia, or otherwise.

What a great title for this story by Measha Stone as it encapsulates what it is
all about. It was pure perfection, and I was addicted by this dark, compelling
romance with it's amazing characters who burst with realism. There are
elements of non-consensual sex, domination, trepidation, punishments, and
raw emotions. The sexual tension between Christian and Amelia was palpable.

I thought Christian was going to be a one-dimensional character, but he
surprised me. He was an anti-hero but a hero nevertheless. He was dark and
menacing in the best possible way. He emanated raw masculinity and took
what he wanted, and he wanted Amelia. She would pay for the sins of her
father, but she was more than just a decoration on his arm. She breathed
new life into him.

I felt Amelia’s confusion and desires as she struggled with her feelings for Christian. She went from one controlling man to another. She was a contradiction at times. Paralyzed by fear one moment, but at a push, she did not hesitate to show her claws. I thought she was teetering on edge between fear and vulnerability.

There were so many subtle moments in this story that captures the depth of emotions shared by Christian and Amelia. As they grew closer they completed each other.

The Book was intriguing and enjoyable ..it was a dark, compelling

Christian is in no need to marry but when he walks in on Amelia playing a piano at a party hiding from everyone he knows he has found his future bride. But this marriage might bring on a war that no one is expecting.
As this reader enjoyed the ending to a degree i felt left with ..... pretty much none closure so I can't say was a cliff hanger cause it did end ... but you are left with answers to questions ... so was like .. That's it ??... Guess off to wait and see if another book will soon finish their story and share maybe Lukas and maggie's ??

Unwilling Pawn is Measha Stone's newest mafia masterpiece. It is an arranged marriage between Amelia a sweet and no so innocent women and Christian a mafia boss that takes what he wants with out question.

Amelia is a grown women and knows the ins and outs of what goes on around her- to a point. She is tired of her life being dictated to her and is now in an arranged marriage to a very old man. When she meets Christian at a party she finds her newest admire.

Christian is in no need to marry but when he walks in on Amelia playing a piano at a party hiding from everyone he knows he has found his future bride. But this marriage might bring on a war that no one is expecting.

The chemistry between these two will blow up your kindle. The needs that Christian have in the bedroom might surprise you (if you have never read a Measha Stone book) and the confusion that Amelia goes through because of it brings a new addition to this wonderful book.

Please tell me this is going to be a series! This author does those dark dominant men so well, and she still managed to blow me away with the intricate details that is this mafia king’s personality. I absolutely loved the characters! The guys just drew me in with their dominance, and if this first book is any example, they are only going to be swayed by the one woman who manages to hold their hearts. The author sure brought the heat to this book, like she is so good at, while bringing with it a story that could completely stand on its own. This book was a fantastic read and I know it’s going to find it’s way to my ereader more than once, well at least until the author sends another book my way.

Loved the characters Christian and Amelia. Amelia got on my nerves some acting like a bratty teenager and also saying she’s all about honesty and loyalty but every time lied to Christian. Only thing that was left unfinished in the book was Sebastian. I kept thinking he was gonna kidnap Amelia and I thought it would bring her husband and her dads family together to find her but the book ended with the old Sebastian still on the loose wanting revenge. The ending was good with her pregnancy and getting close with her Uncle and brother. I wonder if there’s gonna be a book coming soon for Christian brother Lucas or Amelia brother Gregor.

⛔️ Dark themed mafia romance. Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy adult intimate scenes (BDSM scenes with dominance / submission, restraints, consensual / non-consensual acts, spanking for punishment and pleasure, ‘bottom’ play, etc.) and violence such as fighting, torture, murder, betrayal, kidnapping, etc.

There are a few grammatical issues with incorrect or missing words. Nothing difficult to interpret, but enough to distract while reading.

Please be aware that the following could contain a potential spoiler if you have not read the story. I will try to keep it generic and only provide enough detail to explain my rating.

The plot / storyline is solid, the characters well defined and the action moves at a nice pace. Wished for a couple more scenes with Christian and Amelia to demonstrate the “draw” between the characters and not just others in the story saying it is so. There is a demonstrated chemistry, but nothing, especially in the beginning, that shows the feelings have had a chance to grow between them.

In this story Amelia has graduated from college with a degree in hospitality. Her father has now determined that she needs to get married and he has arranged a marriage between them. The potential groom is an older man that her father wants to develop a business arrangement with. She has been raised to expect that she will have to marry to strengthen an alliance with a man chosen by her father, but she has no interest in this man. He feels slimy to her.

Then at a party her father has forced her to attend, he informs her that her engagement will be announced to Gregori and the wedding planning would begin thereafter. Amelia told her father that she had no interest in anything to do with him, but he wouldn’t listen. So she took a walk to escape for a little while and stumbled upon a room with a piano. Amelia sat down and played and a man that she wasn’t familiar with walked in and listen to her play.

Christian is now over the New York and Chicago mafia for the Polish since his cousin was “removed” from the city. Now he was in Chicago trying to clean up the mess and get everything back in order so he could return to NY. Then he heard the rumors that one of his greatest enemies was going to marry Amelia. Christian needed to understand the details of what he was up to so he could formulate a plan to thwart it.

Christian followed Amelia and seen the innocence for himself. After learning what Gregori wanted besides just her, his current financial position, he decided to make her his wife instead …

Is it just me, but is there something missing from this TOTALLY hot and darkishly sexy book?
Measha Stone has dropped the preverbal mic on this one. It’s so packed full of known and unknown twists and turns. I had to read it twice.
I’m just going to just sit here (like a good girl…lol) and wait.

Amelia always felt she was only worthy for her father to use around his business associates. Christian was the head of the Polish mafia who met a young girl who was hiding from all the people at the party. He found her playing the piano and he was intrigued and had an instant attraction to her. Her father was making an arranged marriage to a very seedy older man. Christian found out what was being planned but he wanted her for himself. So he basically bribed her father and married her. Amelia fought against what she believed was an overprotective husband who just wanted her for eye candy. He had found out who she really was and was trying to protect her from heartbreak. Beautiful love story with secrets for Amelia.

Here we have a female who has never felt her worth. She’s been lied to by her family. Forced into an unwanted engagement. Her father even hates her and treats for poorly. But then something good happens, she meets the man who will love and protect her for life. Christian didn’t want to get married but once he did, he knew that he would cherish Amelia and give her what she needs. Definitely worth the read. Five 🌟
