Falling for the wrong twin never felt so good . . .
From the NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL, & USA TODAY bestselling series
Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!
Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why perpetually level-headed Jessica James has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…
But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks.
When Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, how much of her level-head heart is she willing to risk?
Truth or Beard is book #1 in the Winston Brothers series. Each book is a standalone, full length (110k words), contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the romantic exploits and adventures of one of the six Winston Brothers.

Now they are all grown up, and Jessica meets them again after being away for a while. At the local get together, she sees Beau. Or is it Duane?
This is the story of discovering true love, and making life choices based on other people.
i would recommend this book, as i found it well written and a good story.
On passe un très bon moment de comédie.
Je recommande pour ceux qui aiment la lecture détente mais pas bas gamme pour autant.
When Jessica came back to Green Valley to teach math, she haven’t seen the twins for years. On the Halloween night, she is with a twin. Beau or maybe Duane? She is not sure. Well it’s Duane and she is confused because she is falling for him.
The story is told in dual POV. In one chapter you will know Duane’s feelings and in the other you’re inside Jessica’s head.
The story is interesting, funny (I laughed so hard I scared my cat) and steamy (not graphic)! Exactly what you need to escape the reality for a time and just be happy while reading!
It’s Duane and Jessica’s story but there’s a lot of characters you will enjoy to know about (Cletus !!!!).
One last thing: translate this book in french please! The french readers will love it!

Beau Winston has always been the man of Jessica’s dreams: handsome, outgoing, charming. He makes her heart race in all the right ways. His twin brother, on the other hand, makes her heart race in all the wrong ways. Duane Winston is straight out of her nightmares. He’s moody, argumentative, and growing up he made her life hell.
But the first time Jessica sets her eyes on one of the Winston twins since she came home, she makes a catastrophic mistake. It’s not Beau who’s got his lips on hers and his hand down her pants, but his surly twin. How can Duane be setting her body on fire when it’s Beau she’s always wanted? And how can this be any more than a casual fling when she’s so determined to leave?
This is my first Penny Reid book and won’t be my last. She’s a master story-teller, pulling you into the Winston family effortlessly. I’m not usually a fan of beards, mechanics or bikers, but by the end of this book I wanted to hump a Hell’s Angel. This book has humour, heat, angst, mystery, danger, and a cast of fabulous characters to fall in love with. The fact that Duane is such a hard man on the outside and so soft and gooey on the inside is panty-melting, and even though he’s the star of the show, his brothers are so well drawn that I can’t wait to read all of their stories. There’s also unexpected suspense and foreshadowing of high drama that I hope will be resolved later in the series. I absolutely loved this book and hope you do too!

Now a teacher of mathematics Jessica sees Duane at a dance, thinking he’s Beau her heart is all a flutter, he in turn grabs her and kisses the life out of her, when she realises it’s the wrong twin she knows Duane is the one for her. Not without some angst, misunderstanding, funny and some sad moments this book takes you on their journey....and it a really lovely enjoyable one.
I was lucky to get this book for free, to be honest I don’t think I’d of bothered otherwise because I hated the cover, but decided to give it a go..thankfully. I would continue to read this series but find the price is far to high, I really don’t understand how the publishers can charge £6 or £7 for a digital book, reduce the price and so many more would be purchased.

Wow! I was totally captivated by this book! When I was working I was thinking of it and what was going to happen. It really had a feel good vibe.
Being honest I never read anything from Penny Reid before. I had heard a lot about the Winston brothers and I was curious to find out what the fuss was about. Believe me, if you haven't read this book yet, you need to! I am annoyed with myself I didn't start it sooner.
Jessica is the good girl, girl next door, daughter of the sheriff, sister of the sheriffs deputy, and maths teacher at the local school. Duane is the reserved twin, takes risks, drives fast and is completely in love with Jessica. Jessica on the other hand can't stand Duane, they fight, they play jokes on each other growing up. They are the complete opposite to each other. To make matters worse for Duane, Jessica has a crush on Beau, Duane's sweet, heroic twin brother. However this all changes on Halloween, when Jess dresses up as a sexy Gandalf. Chatting with Claire, Jess sees who she believes to be Beau. She becomes paralysed by her unrealistic crush on him. "Beau" takes this opportunity to pull Jess away from the crowd and kiss her. During there passionate make out session "Beau" pulls away to reveal to Jess his true identity. Duane. Completely shocked and angry Jess tries to storm out. What confuses her more is how much she enjoyed Duane's kiss and how she wants more. At first I though wow that's not a good start to Duane's character but from his POV we see an insight to why he did it.
The development of the characters throughout the book is wonderful and sweet. They push each other, respectful of each others hopes and dreams.
I would 100% recommend this book. It has romance and humour. It is perfect.

And yeah, it was just a hunch and I might not be always right. But luckily, I really enjoyed reading Truth or Beard. To be completely honest, it didn't blow me away but that's overshadowed by the fact that it did actually surprise me. I thought I was getting into a bad boy, bad attitude, from hate to love story and it turned out to be something else completely. Something better.
I loved the writing style and I also loved how the author gave a voice to the female lead. For once, it is the female main character the one with the restless mind waiting to wander the world and not settle, and the male character the one who just wanted to throw the fishing net and settle down, and ultimately the one that had to open his eyes to adventure. Their dynamic was sweet and super funny, definitely entertaining even considering some silly things happening that I will not get into now.
All in all, entertaining, funny, sweet and a must read for ginger beard lovers.

A woman returns to her hometown and unwittingly gets fresh with a man she thinks is her childhood crush but is instead his supposedly unlikable twin who, it turns out, is actually really lovely.
The good and the bad:
Ooh, I like Penny Reid! This is the first book by Reid that I have read and I really liked how she was able to achieve something that a lot of authors who write linked romance books fail to do: introduce (lots of) other characters who are not hugely relevant to the hero and heroine in the current book, but are themselves the lead characters in subsequent books. Authors try to do this to make you buy in to the whole series but in my experience they tend to do it in a way that is not very subtle, and is often confusing because there are so many different characters. But Reid pulls it off - she doesn't force the other characters down your throat and yet they are involved enough in the plot that you feel like you are starting to get to know them and want to read their stories.
The other thing Reid does well, which many other romance authors fail at, is having a side story so that the book while focused on the hero and heroine (in this case, Jess James and Duane Winston), is not all about that. In this book, the side story relates to Duane being blackmailed.
The sex scenes are hot and medium-level graphic.
The blurb for this book is a little misleading. Yes, the book is about a woman who kisses the wrong twin but the rest of the book isn't about her subsequently realising she actual likes the wrong twin. That part of the book is all done within the first couple of chapters. Then the book really focuses on the building passion between the two, and the ups and downs Jess and Duane experience as they fall in love while having different life goals.
The book is so much more besides and I really liked the writing. The only thing I did not like about the book was Reid's use of the words "as well" to start a sentence. Perhaps it is grammatically correct, but it's a really clunky way to start a sentence. As well, it reads much better to add the word 'also' into a sentence. Get my point?
In short: I recommend this book and I will be reading more of Reid's work.
