Grumpy, small-town barber + hopelessly romantic runaway bride = great big bust ups, all the tension and lots of steamy encounters!
Escaping her seemingly perfect wedding, Naomi Witt arrives in rough-around-the-edges Knockemout, Virginia, running to the rescue of her estranged twin, Tina.
Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn't changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi's car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected: the 11-year-old niece she didn't know she had. Now she's stuck in town with no job, no plan, no home and a whole lot of extra responsibility.
There's a reason local barber Knox doesn't do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi's life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into trouble, he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least that's the plan, until their lives begin to entwine in ways they never imagined . . .

The but comes for the love interest. While I love it when a grumpy guy becomes a lover or even the quite sensible persona, I thought it was a little too much to be frank. There were moments where it was almost alarming and toxic.. the Neanderthal took sometimes over the cute level of grumpiness we all love.
**SPOILER**
Other but will be the end… yes I shed a tear but at the end, with a little recoil, it was just too packed up and too perfect… like everyhing, literally everything ended up like in a fairy tale and each of the problems got solved, many couples got created and don’t make me start on the house mariage kid combo that happened waaaay too fast. The fact that her husband is in the headset « if you want something I’ll make it happen, I’ll give it to you, you’ll get it » opposes the beginning of the book where the main character aspires to a life of independency and wants to be able to take care of her self. The book literally ends on the guy taking care of the girl in the most manly, sexist way possible and it was a little disappointing for me.
Other than that, good read !
There is action, love, a true family story with issues.
I recommand this book.
Review : That book was really great! I was scared of the book's length but it went rather quickly so I'm happy! I love the grumpy x sunshine trope, so fine 👌🏻 (Knox is SO fine 👌🏻)! Overall, I really liked the book, and I want a book on Lucian & Sloane's story, that's it!
Written so damn well !
Couldn’t stop reading !
Definitely recommend this book if you want hot smutty scenes, amazing character development !!!!
To start with the positive, I loved the little town spirit where everyone takes care of everyone, defends their friends, helps a lot.
I fell for the heroine's niece (Naomi's niece), because despite a childhood without the attention and affection she deserved, she is courageous and strong, she is very mature while having deep down inside her needs of a girl her age, she manages to trust people she has just met. She is not an unimportant secondary character, she is really at the heart of the story and quickly takes a place in the lives of the protagonists. I was happy for her because she ended up having a real family who would do anything for her.
I loved most of the secondary characters: Naomi's parents and her perfect best friend, Knox's brother, his best friend, his grandmother, and his employees.
Naomi's story with her sister is well thought out, there is suspense, anger and twists. Her sister has disappeared and initially we don't know why, or where, or if she will return. We also wonder how she could have left her 11-year-old daughter behind. There are surprises in the revelations, even if the ending is a bit far-fetched.
Naomi needs attention, love, to be accepted as she really is. Her unequivocal decision to take care of her niece when she didn't even know she existed until then is just admirable. She immediately feels responsible, she puts her first, she wants to make her happy and give her everything she never had. Their relationship is wonderful.
My opinion on Knox is more mixed. He is protective, he likes to growl but does everything to help others. He's amazing with Naomi's niece. But he sometimes goes too far in his alpha side. Not to mention he quietly donates money to the library to hire Naomi. I like that the heroines are independent, autonomous and not that her man saves her with his fortune. Money shouldn't be the answer to everything, especially in a new couple.
Although I loved Knox employees, I found that sometimes they went too far. Few employers would tolerate this kind of behavior. In addition, women who have their period at the same time and who must be left alone because they become irritable... It's a bit cliché! When you're at work, you don't put your colleagues through your moods by telling them "shut up, I'm on my period".
Another concern: Knox goes too abruptly from "Naomi is great" to "I'm leaving Naomi". I can understand his reasoning, but the author presents it too abruptly.
And at the end, he doesn't grovel enough.
In short, an imperfect story but with nice touches of humor, a bit of suspense, two beautiful families, wonderful friends and the desire to know more about certain secondary characters.

I was attracted to the cover with the daisies. It looked different to other romance books with hot men or couples. And the book is different - it has more emotional depth, more wisdom, more humour, more likeable characters and hot but flawed guys. There is a whole cast of great secondary characters and I hope there are follow up books about mysterious Lucian (Lucy) and whatever is going on with sassy Librarian Sloane and about Knox's brother Nash.
Naomi's 11 year old niece has had a difficult childhood with her mum, Tina (the evil twin). But she has turned out likeable, smart, mature and funny. The relationship between her and her Aunt Naomi (the good twin) and Knox is at the heart of the book and it is heartwarming story. There are lots of people and dogs in this book who come together to protect and support Naomi and her niece - family by birth and by choice - and it makes the book feel warm, loving and fun, despite the difficult start Naomi's niece has had.
I can't wait for more Knockemout books and in the meantime I will be reading more Lucy Score books!

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score has been sitting pretty on our kindles for a while and we finally picked it up and devoured it from the first page to the last. It was a very long book, but it was worth it! Lucy Score covered so many of our favourite things we love in our stories, and it was reminiscent of some of our favourite books by Authors we loved a decade ago. Utter perfection. The way in which Lucy Score wrote Knox and Naomi’s story is superb, it swept us up and carried us along as if we were in it, experiencing the highs, the lows, the heat, and the drama alongside all the wonderful characters. It’s truly a wonderful story of family, friendship, and love.
‘Was there someone out there who would find me to be enough? Not too much or too little, but the person they’d been waiting for their whole life.’
Knockemout has the best residents, we fell in love with all of them (bar Tina of course). Like Naomi muses a few times, what on earth is in the drinking water there, they sure don’t make the blokes like this round our way! Knox, Nash, and Lucien. What a trio!
‘I knew what attraction felt like. Knew what to do with it too. But not with a woman like this. One who didn’t know it was smart to be afraid of me.’
So, this book is about the enigmatic Knox and the incoming fleeing bride Naomi. They don’t meet under the best of circumstances, however, it’s pretty safe to say that the intense attraction is immediate. With a few grumpy slanging matches and tangible heated looks, we just knew this was going to turn into a fiery romance!
Naomi is running from her life into an unknown situation after getting a surprising phone call from her estranged twin sister. It’s a good egg versus bad egg situation, stemming from childhood, but Naomi is a people pleaser, a problem solver, and has the heart of an angel. A bad situation changes everything for Naomi and deservedly for the better. Before that though, she must run through a gamut of obstacles, one being the saucy and stroppy Knox. Knox has his own issues and baggage but underneath that gruff Viking, exterior lies a soft heart with a few cracks in it waiting for the right woman to smooth them over. Knox is blown away by the kind, fierce, intelligent, beauty that is Naomi. The way in which their story unfolded was compelling, what a journey and what a wonderful array of characters that made this so much more than just a slow burn reluctant love story.
“Maybe I like being the hero for once.”
Smalltown romances are one of our favourites, add a grumpy hero whose actions speak louder than his words, intense chemistry with an adorable strong, and funny heroine as well as a bit of suspense and humour and well… we’re in reading heaven. We cannot convey how much we loved this book. It just ticked all the boxes for us. We’ve read Lucy Score before and fallen in love with her words, but this is our favourite by this Author, and we cannot wait for Nash and Lucien’s books now!
“You’ve got a big heart, and sooner or later, once all this drama is over, someone is going to look at you and recognize it. And they’re going to want to take care of you for a change.”

This was my first Lucy Score book and it did not disappoint!
After Naomi gets a message from her estranged twin sister saying she needs help, she ditches her wedding to come to her sisters aid. Only problem is when she turns up in the cosy town of Knockemout she’s immediately mistaken for her sister who has made an enemy out of everyone in the town. She also realises she’s been double crossed and her sister has stolen her belongings and ran off into the sunset leaving behind her daughter.
Enter our grumpy Knox, he’s mad at the world and he’s sworn off of relationships but he’ll do anything for the people in this town, even if they’re a bunch of gossips. When he turns up at the coffee shop and starts shouting at Naomi to get out among other things, it’s clear to her he’s mistaken her for her sister. However she’s having none of it and it’s safe to say they get off on the wrong foot. But when he finds out her true identity he can’t seem to shake her from his mind…
Knox man, he is just about as grumpy as you can get, but you can kind of understand his reasonings in the end, his past hurt my heart. I was left wanting to give him a good slap at multiple moments throughout this book. Did it make me love him any less than I do though? No… this man has me hooked, although he was stupid when it came to committing to Naomi, their relationship was everything. I also adored his relationship with Waylay.
And Naomi, I relate to her so much, being a people pleaser and finding it difficult to say no to people. I honestly adored her. I loved that she didn’t hesitate to step up for Waylay and then continued to show up for her and prove to her that she was going to be a permanent part of her life. They really turned out to be the cutest little family!
I also loved the mystery that ran through the book, I really wasn’t expecting it and it was fun trying to work it all out. I was left guessing till the very end!
The only reason this wasn’t a 5* is because it took Naomi and Waylay getting kidnapped for Knox to come to his senses and realise he loved them!

This book left me at 1:30am in the morning full of human feelings as I couldn’t help but melt with the outcomes.
Naomi was not only a runaway bride but constantly running to the aid of everyone else, including to the small town of Knockemount to help out her black sheep identical twin Tina out of trouble.
However, this not only led her to be mistakenly constantly as Tina, feeling the anger of a whole town but to be stood toe to toe with an grumpy, tattooed, Viking looking man who got under her skin from the moment they met in a yelling match in the local cafe. One thing this book taught me is not to get in the way of Naomi or her caffeine.
Naomi finds herself in a strange town, nowhere to go and an 11 year old niece to look after she never knew existed. Well this was a bumpy ride but my god my heart could not take the energy between alpha male Knox and Naomi.
There was much baggage between the pair, but ultimately they needed something from each other.
The side characters were freaking amazing. Waylay being a standout. From badass female pals to brooding best friends, Charming police chiefs and the grandparents of a lifetime. Plus doggos !
With danger on top of figuring out a new life there was a lot to unpack but this town really rallied around Naomi and Waylay. I think the dynamics, the constant need to continue reading was so fun to read as I just didn’t want to out the books down.
Some bucket holes, broken noses, a wedding dress and a love heart charm later and it was everything I didn’t know I needed. Some parts a little far fetched which is why it wasn’t quite 5 stars but woah! That will live rent free in my brain for a long time.
