violent et intense, c'est le moins que l'on puisse dire

bon bon bon, ce premier tome est terminé, je veux la suite viiiiiite parce que clairement, c'est choquant, prenant, gore, violent et j'en passe et j'ai adoré voir la relation entre Mara et Cole évoluer tout au long de l'histoire. Les limites sont parfois franchies mais ça va bien aux personnages et à leur noirceur, Mara ne sait pas quoi faire vis à vis de Cole et ce dernier ressent des choses qu'il n'aurait jamais imaginé dans sa vie. La frontière avec le thriller est inexistante puisque même s'il s'agit d'une romance, le suspense, la tension, la violence, tout est là pour nous faire frissonner !! Et ce final est tout simplement horrible étant donné ce qui se passe et je suis pour le moins impatiente pour la suite !! Vivement !!

This book!…. Holy sh*t it was so good!!! This is legit like a movie or an episode of “You” 😂
This was my first Sophie Lark book and it won’t be the last, her writing was brilliant.
This story is dark, twisted, intense and just keeps you on the edge of your seat! Cole and Mara are not your typical couple but their chemical is undeniable!
Cole what an intriguing complex character I’m just fascinated by him he’s definitely my favourite 😂
Mara I kind of expected to be a weak heroine but she is far from it and I absolutely loved that!
Now let me just say… Cole and Mara in his studio oh my god that has to be one of the hottest things I’ve ever read!
I’ve honestly not read anything like this book and I need more! I don’t want to say too much because I really don’t want to give anything away just go read it and enjoy all this dark romance goodness 😜

*It does end on a cliffhanger book 2 will be out in December

*The playlist for this book was amazing and worked perfectly!!

I’ve been in a book slump for weeks, looking for something with a bit of difference. Fed-up of reading the blurb only to be disappointed once I start reading and it’s the same old, same old, yet again. Finally that golden unicorn nugget is here!
I like my books dark and this didn’t disappoint at all. It had me all tensed up, holding my breath, devouring every word.
I’m ready for book 2 but, sadly, book 2 isn’t ready for me. While I await it’s release date I can check out Sophie Lark’s other books and hopefully they’re just as entrancing.

Every single minute of my evening has been spent binge reading There Are No Saints by Sophie Lark and I regret not one second of it.

The chokehold this book has over me.. Lord.. it's me again 🙏

I became completely captivated by the stark contrast in character tones with each POV switch.

Cole is so cold, calculated, and psychopathic it's jarring meanwhile Mara is a tornado of emotions just trying to survive from one day to the next.

This book is heavy on the trigger warnings, and definitely is not one to dive into blindly if you are someone with triggers, but I found it to be genuinely stunning. It's written so well. The trauma healing, the character growth, the plot structure, all of it gives the triggers woven in true purpose.

I ran to the kindle store to grab There Is No Devil, book 2 in the Sinners Duet, because there's no frickin way I can wait until January for Amazon to deliver the paperback copy I ordered 🤣

This is 100% in my top 10 reads for 2021.

I've read 188 books this year, the majority of which have been incredible, but this one will live rent free in my head.

woah, this book is DARK! please check trigger warnings before reading. i couldn’t work out if i thought cole was hot or creepy.. i’m still undecided - he is trouble though, and rich (he gives me vaughn spencer vibes from angry god by lj shen!). i absolutely adore mara, god she’s just so strong willed, i could not survive what she went through!! they both have issues, like.. deep rooted issues, they’re perfect for each other, as in they balance each other. the tension between them😮‍💨 he’s controlling, manipulative, intense & she’s defiant, the back and forth with these two is great you just know the spice is gonna be SO SPICY🔥🌶 cole is so obsessed with thinking and making mara say that she’s his, he doesn’t even realise that he is just as much hers too🙊 if anything, he was hers way before she was his🥲 OMG I JUST LOVE THEM! cole is so cold and inhumane with everyone else, but with mara he’s totally different, he’s honest and seems like he can finally relax and actually be himself, who he wants to be. cole takes the meaning of “i’d kill for you” quite literally😮‍💨🥲 it gives me artistic, murderous, bonnie and clyde kinda vibes! it ends on a cliffhanger but that’s expected as it’s a duet! so excited to start there is no devil!!! jumping straight into the next book book🤩

This review contains spoilers.

1. The writer should have provided more information about MC, Cole. Why is he the way he is? Why did he become a serial killer? His age at least! As he's written, he makes little to zero sense. Being rich, hot, tall and with a big d*ck is lazy and reeks of amateur writing.
2. This is the 'special girl' trope. It was going great at first, I liked that Cole held so much contempt for the FC, she wasn't to his taste, he could barely tolerate her. Then, he became Pepe LePieu with hearts in his eyes, and oh, she's so special, and unique, and she makes my heart go boom-boom.
3. The spice was very lukewarm in my opinion. Not enough interaction, too much graphic detail. AND I absolutely hate when authors refuse to write a realistic an*l scene. There's no such thing without lube unless you want screams of terror. No. Do better.
4. I will give this book some credit because the interaction between the characters was fully consensual unlike other stalker dark romances that blatantly romanticise SA and abuse.
5. The book is ugly on the inside. Double spaced paragraphs that make it longer than it actually has to be and heavy. Also you have three pages that basically consist of SMACK! 🙄
6. The first half of the book is okay. It all goes sour after that. The FC lives to defy MC even at the cost of her safety. MC becomes a split personality, a softie murd*rer.
7. Playlists interrupting the flow of the story. NO
8. Please, stop using words like "I dunno" when writing a book. Are you fifteen?

I will not be reading the second book (or any other book from this writer) and I wouldn't recommend this one.
