Being a single woman was hard enough and being alone was hard work to look after yourself...being caught rustling was never going to end well...but hanging...well that was tough to face...so when a cowboy explains that he would marry her and save her from death she should at least be grateful...right?...Well read on and find out...

Their Outlaw Bride is her second book in the Bridgewater Brides series. Delta James introduces us to Elizabeth (Lizzie) Morgan, Gavan MacLean, and Caelen MacAllister. Life has dealt these three an interesting hand. Lizzie’s life is one of hardships starting with the death of her parents during an Indian raid and her 10-year life as a captive. She spent several years in an orphanage. Then the so-called pious citizens tried to coerce into being a soiled dove. Her strength of character and stamina allowed her to resist turning to cattle rustling instead. As this story opens, readers find themselves witnessing trial and a sentencing of hanging. Through her trial, we meet Gavan MacLean, a former Scot soldier, who relocated to Bridgewater. One look is all he needs for him to know he has found the woman he has been searching for. He telegraphs his childhood friend, Caelen MacAllister, to come to meet said woman. Gavan and Caelen hold nonconventional views of marriage. They believe that a woman should be married to more than one man. In the harsh living of the West, this is a practical solution for the woman. If something happens to one husband, she has another and does not have to succumb to becoming a soiled dove to survive. Will Gavan and Caelen find a way to save Lizzie from hanging? Will Lizzie agree to such an unconventional union? Will they find happiness?
I was not too happy with this book as I do not feel it meet the standard of the Vanessa Vale’s Bridgewater series. I realize that this is a different series, but it is patterned after Vale’s series and even includes a few of those characters. I feel Ms. James relied too much on explicit sex scenes to move the plot along rather than building a stronger character-driven plot. She has the basic bone skeleton for this type of romantic ménage plot. She missed the mark on building intrigue with the plot twist at the climax with the reemergence of the evil sheriff. She could have built tension and intrigue by hinting at his motives for his dogged pursuit of Lizzie. Ms. James provides the backstory for our two virile Scots; however, she did not strengthen their connection to the original Bridgewater community. If these weaknesses are addressed this book would go from an okay read to an outstanding read.

Elizabeth Morgan became an outlaw to escape the “occupation” available to her, that of prostitution. She could have been a teacher but she had a very hard early life and education was not much part of it. Now she stands accused of cattle rustling and thievery. When she is found guilty and sentenced to hanging, she puts up a brave front but two men in the room see right through her bravado. Gavan and Caelan have watched the proceedings with grave worry because Gavan thinks she is their bride-to-be. Can they save her and take her back to their home in Bridgewater where all the wives have multiple husbands?
Very steamy story but if you know Ms. James’ writings that will not surprise. Beyond the initial angst, there will be bad situations on the road. Just enough conflict for this novella. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout and I recommend it for those who like LOTS of steam with their love story.

THEIR OUTLAW BRIDE by Delta James

I applaud Ms. James for writing one of The Bridgewater Brides books, as they are all menage relationships, and Ms. James hasn't gone in that direction before. I thought she did a great job! I do like me a 'good western'... we redheads are like that. This story has one sexy, hot, redhead, and two handsome, studley, studs complete with Scottish brogue and tight jeans. What's not to love? It's fun, it's quick, it's a hoot! Perfect for a cold evening by the fire or a hot afternoon by the sprinkler.

I'm a Delta James fan all the way and this new book, part of Vanessa Vale's Bridgewater Brides series, lets Delta write a menage romance and do it with all the usual things that I enjoy in her books, an exciting story, a strong, fiesty heroine and a hero (or in this case heroes) who are stand-up guys - and lots of steam. Thanks Delta for a great story

Gavan, Caelan and Lizzy’s story had me hooked from page 1! I didn’t want to put it down! This one was hot as hell, super sweet and had its angsty moments. It also has me hoping that a certain married woman turned widow her own Bridgewater book! Another must read from this amazing series!

If having to choose ba town that has it in for you and Gavan and Caelan, those Bridgewater husband will win everytime. Lizzie's town sucks big donkey balls for sure.

I love all the Bridgewater books, but Delta James outdid herself. This is one of my favorites. With Lizzie being an official outlaw, things were bound to not be easy. However, Caelan and Gavin make it work for all of them. There is just the right amount of suspense and romance to make this a must read book.

This book was pretty good. I felt that the whole book was mainly just sex without much story which disappointed me. The book in this series called The Harlot Bride I liked a lot. I'm sure I'll find other books I'll like alot and not as much as I go through the series.
