Dr. Christian Busch is an internationally known expert in the areas of innovation, purpose-driven leadership, and serendipity. He is the director of the CGA Global Economy Programme at New York University (NYU), and also teaches at the London School of Economics (LSE). A cofounder of Leaders on Purpose and the Sandbox Network - and a former director of LSE's Innovation Lab - he has worked with senior executives and governments around the world. He is member of the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Expert Forum, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and on the Thinkers50 Radar list of the 30 thinkers "most likely to shape the future." His work has been featured by outlets such as the Strategic Management Journal, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, The Guardian, and the BBC.

Exploiter la sérendipité pour nouer des liens

Un bon ouvrage qui explique cet état d’esprit à avoir pour savoir créer des liens en toute occasion, ou comment transformer chaque évènement en opportunité. Que ce soit de la connexion entre personnes, ou de la connexion entre des idées, il faut savoir provoquer la chance.
On regrettera quand même parfois certaines longueurs dans les explications.

A thought-provoking and stimulating read, packed with examples about how to recognize opportunities, and illustrative applications where companies have seized the initiative.

This is a hugely uplifting book which everyone should read - I got loads out of it, and while checklists aren't necessarily my thing, the (long) one at the end has already been implemented and I have high hopes in seeing how it pans out.

A positive mental attitude and an openness to alternative thinking is what is called for - after all, who doesn't want to make the most of their opportunities?

A relaxed and rhapsodic treatment of this delightful topic. Sometimes, it reads like the author's stream of consciousness and true to the title of the book, the passages can meander. A nice place to begin when delving into the subject of serendipity, which is not commonly looked at on an in depth level. Gives some practical tips which are appreciated. But the doing will be harder than than the reading.

Oh dear, this book is just all over the place. It just jumps from one story to another. Not connected or doesn’t follow a particular journey. It’s very difficult to read and pay attention because the points the author is trying to get across aren’t even clear. I have tried to read this book many times but get stuck. I try again and then I get reminded about how terrible it is. The book has taught me absolutely nothing because I can barely get halfway through it! The book is just a load of ramblings littered with pointless stories.

I have no idea why the author felt the need to (name changed) quite so much for such lacklustre little stories other than to add some sense of authenticity to anecdotal, potentially fictional tales.

There’s nothing wrong with dressing up a positive attitude when it presents its self as seizing opportunity but the title of the book and the preface is the published equivalent of click bait.

As John Smith (name changed), a small town restauranteur from Kentucky, said - what is intended to be a well meaning and positive moral ends up coming across as extremely vapid.
