Evan’s story is hands down one of the most real and raw stories I think I’ve read all year. He has been through so much and watching him grow throughout this entire book was truly so freaking inspiring. I love how supportive the entire Adler clan is, and this book made me fall in love with Shea Adler all over again. The man is the most supportive and loving parent, and only wants the best for his kids.
As for Callie. I loved her feistiness so much in Nico and Aviva’s story, and I just knew she would be the perfect fit for Evan. She’s not afraid to tell it like it is, but she’s so sweet and caring. The way she helps build Evan back up and supports him so wholeheartedly is beautiful.
Honestly, this entire story was so beautifully written and full of every emotion. Evan and Callie are seriously perfect. I truly don’t have enough words to describe how amazing this book is and how much I loved it. Toni absolutely nailed this story and didn’t shy away from the hard stuff. Bravo Toni, I can’t wait to see what’s next!!
I have been waiting for this book since Owen and Angie’s book. We knew Evan’s story was going to be deep. And Ms. Aleo didn’t disappoint…at all! It was realistic and raw. It was hopeful and healing. It was silly and sexy. It was perfect! Now I know not everyone has this road to recovery (for both our H &h) but it is without a doubt a wonderful representation on how life can be after experiencing trauma, disappointment, fear, hopelessness, doubt and in the end self discovery. Life can be made better by love and family…and the right therapist!
I love that Ms. Aleo didn’t hold back with her characters. She made them as raw and imperfect as they needed to be yet she tempered that with humor and humility when needed to find the perfect mix for this kind of story. It was emotional but felt like a very refreshing page turning read that I couldn’t put down. And for that I applaud Ms. Aleo because that’s no easy task she set for herself.
Toni has outdone herself again, with Saved by Love! Evan and Callie's love story offers everything fans of Toni expect, and more. Of course with an HEA. Love seeing Evan work through his anxiety issues and seeing how Callie contributes to his healing. It was great to see Aviva and Nico, even though I wanted to offee some hard words to Nico more than a few times in the story.
This isn't a typical romance with the overused tropes that make me scream with annoyance. Nope, this was a sweet simple story about two wonderfully broken people who always wanted love but found it just out of grasp. They both want this so badly, they don't let anything, any problem or anyone stop them. They know what they love about the other and they fight for each other from the beginning. I was hesitant about this book at first because I am married to a man with mental health issues and it's not for the faint of heart. Theres no fixing a person with just love. They have to want the help and do it for themselves. Callie and Evan do just that. They don't fix, they provide strength, encouragement and support so the other feels safe to grow. This was a wonderful book that gave me all the feels. My only flaw is I wish there was an audio book version.
There is something really special about a book when you are totally absorbed into the characters and their lives, especially when it deals with real life issues. This story shows us characters that are so real and how they deal with mental health and autism and breast cancer. Callie and Evan deal with these issues on their own or with family and they vocalize what I believe real people deal with on a daily basis. Just because they have issues (and who doesn’t!) it does not mean they cannot find love and support from another person.
All of that aside … These two are so much fun and I think of all the Adlers, I love Evan the most. He has so many real qualities that make me see he could be right in my community.
You don’t have to read the series to fall in love with this book, but you definitely will want to!
Toni Aleo is such a great writer. I have LOVED every book she has written in both the Assassins Series and the Bellevue Bullies series. All of them are about family and love. This book, "Saved by Love" was excellent. I started reading it and could not put it down. The main character, Evan Adler, has some mental health issues and Toni really captures his feelings and the importance of getting help, and having the support of a loving family and girlfriend. This book made me cry and laugh and I think most everyone can relate to feeling hopelessness at sometime in our loves. Again, it captures the loving Adler family that is in this series of books. If you haven't read the entire series, I would highly recommend doing so. Hopefully, the writer will continue on writing about the various family members.
I would have given five stars if the author hadn't made yet another book all about Shelli. It felt like Ms. Aleo heard the complaints about her and tried to make us judge her better by trashing Nico. Sad. While I don't love Nico the way I did, I don't like her any better. And it was so unnecessary to this story.
And I love Callie and Evan. That's why I gave it four stars. For them.
I love how Toni has been open with her readers about her own mental health struggles. I love how she brought us into the mind of someone with anxiety and how outside influences can further exacerbate those struggles. Evan and Callie’s story was cute and sweet. I loved every minute of it and it had me laughing at parts. I ended the book feeling like I wanted just a little bit more of something. But overall I love getting to continue living the lives of the Assassin’s kids.
Callie and Evan are a wonderful addition to this series. Evan chose his mental health over hockey the sport that he loves. Now he is a sports trainer working towards being a sports therapist. Callie is talented gymnast who volunteers at the autism center. Callie is a ray of sunshine. Evan is strong, kind and generous. Evan has some anxiety issues. Evan connects with Callie. Callie is Evan's biggest cheerleader. Evan feels completely whole with Callie. Evan finally feels like he is living with Callie in his life. Again Toni brings all her characters from Bellevue Bullies series to life. I love how Callie supports Evan and brings sunshine to his life.
