From bestselling indie author Laura Thalassa comes the newly revised and edited first book in her smash-hit dark fantasy romance between a siren and the "bargainer" she owes countless favors to.
Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past.
For the last seven years Callie has been wearing a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she once received. Only death or repayment will fulfill her obligations.
Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He's a man who can get you anything you want … at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for Callie, he's never asked for repayment. Not until now.
When Callie finds the Bargainer in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it's admitting a truth—a single bead's worth—acknowledging the attraction between them. But the Bargainer is after more than just rekindling their connection. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one, and only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to her breast.
For the Bargainer to save his people, he'll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. If she can forgive him.

Long story short, what i liked, what i disliked :
✅ Amazing female protagonist
✅ Entertaining way of writing about Callie pov
✅ Fantasy part is really good
✅ Nice declarations, good with words
✅ The UNEXPECTED END
✅ and finally ladies : good smut 🥵
❌ Sometimes too predictable
❌ Sometimes you feel like it's just repeating itself over and over, specially in the middle of the book
❌ Not really original male's character description (hard abs, strong jaw, mUscuLAr)
❌ I felt like Callie's backstory and traumas should have taken a much important place
Now let's talk about the story. No one is a fool when it comes to this book. You just have to read the summary to know what to expect and as i previously said, what you asked for you shall receive. That's one nasty interesting book 🥰🥵 You can clearly feel the tension rise en rise and for that the book is hard to let down.
❌Still my only "disappointment" (though it's not really a big big one) is that a lot of it is predictable, and sometimes a bit too "cliché" for me, i like my men to be unique, original, and sometimes reading ten times "hard abs" and "sharp jaw" through two single chapters can get a bit annoying, but still i liked it nevertheless. Callie is an interesting character with an interesting past and i felt like this should have taken more place, i have wished to learn more about how she deals with life knowing what you know about her past. Going to the middle of the book i also felt like i was just reading the same stories over and over.
✅ Laura thalassa has one really good way to write and you don't want to really enjoy the book because you're too eager to know what's next 🥵. Her female protagonist is amazing, i like her, like her story, her personality, i felt emotionally involved with her as i was progressing through the story.
I also like how she distances herself with her siren part, it makes the story more mysterious, as if something bad that she didn't really know about was inside her. The smut was really good, what else could i say about that except that i wish this book was my life ?
And FINALLY, the END LADIES. THE END IS THE BEST PART. So entertaining, things escalated quickly but i really reaaaaally loved it. I just wish the whole book was just as diverting.
That being said I wasn't ready for this couple and how perfect they are. The angst is so hot and then everything is so sweet.
Kept me entertained & guessing throughout the whole thing !

The only reason this loses a star is because I wasn't totally into the ending, I know it sets the next book up nicely but it felt a little bit rushed. The plot overall was actually pretty decent, nothing totally award winning but it was still engaging and enjoyable. It's the kind of book that's an easy read but still has some good dialogue, and a few plot twists.
Overall I would recommend giving it a read. I think it was worth what I paid for it and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

Well, first of all, she wasn’t kidding; the similarities between Rhapsodic and ACOTAR, specifically A Court of Mist and Fury, are stark. Uncomfortably so, if I’m honest. However, this self-published book was released in the same year as ACOMAF (2016) and had apparently been brewing since 2014, which is a full year before even the first book in the ACOTAR series was released. Thus, either Laura Thalassa writes, edits and pubs extremely fast, or she and SJM were reading the same thing that inspired each of their books and characters. For me, it was impossible not to compare the two (however much I tried to give Thalassa the benefit of the doubt), and I think that’s largely why this book bothered me; it’s nowhere near as good.
The story follows Callie, a siren, who when she was a teenager, made an ill-advised bargain (or 322) with a fairy known as the Bargainer (aka. the King of the Night aka. Desmond Flynn — yes, really, there’s a fairy called Des) to conceal the murder of her abusive stepfather. The Bargainer is renowned for demanding steep payments for his favours, but with Callie, he never does... until 7 years later when he crops up out of nowhere and demands she fulfil payment.
This could have been really twisted. Honestly, I’d have been far more on board with the idea of the Bargainer forcing Callie to fulfil openly sadistic favours with him whilst she tries to break free, than what we actually got which was a deeply problematic romance peppered with flashbacks that had me cringing every few pages. As I mentioned earlier, it was hard not to compare the Bargainer‘s actions with that of Rhysand from Sarah J. Maas’s books: Des conceals information, Rhysand does not; Des controls Callie; Rhysand does not; Des is constantly having to save Callie, Rhysand is not. In fact Des is decidedly so unappealing as a romantic male lead that I actively hated him. Callie too is so passive, so useless at getting herself out of trouble. I just hated the pair of them together, and the inevitable intimate scenes just made me cringe (even these felt ripped off).
The stuff about the sleeping warriors and creepy children though was super interesting and kept me compulsively reading. The plot point surrounding the Thief of Souls obviously still hasn’t been fully resolved either, so of course I’m going to have to read the next book to find out what happens next, even though the action was super rushed and there were so many unanswered questions.
Overall... Not recommended. I rated this book 2 stars rather than 1 on the basis that I didn’t hate it.

🌶🌶🌶
A 16 year old Callie finally defends herself against her abusive step father leaving her with no option but to call on The Bargainer. The Bargainer is more than he seems and Callie has her own secrets.
I had forgotten how young Callie was when I first read Rhapsodic. When I originally read this book it left me a little uncomfortable - until I realised that there would be a slight twist of events. So I enjoyed this re-read much more than the first time around.
Callie develops from a naive teenager to a sassy adult Siren. However, her insecurities still portray her as immature and a little annoying if I'm honest.
I know that she develops further in the other books - but, in this one she is so frustrating.
The Bargainer is your typical swoon worthy love interest. Dark, mysterious and has that protective streak. He counterbalances Callie's innocence perfectly.
During my first read - this book helped with my serious ACOTAR book hangover. As the series went on, the similarities were very evident. However, after research - this is simply coincidental.
This re-read was so much fun, I couldn't wait to get to certain revelations. Even knowing what was happening, the tension and build up to climatic scenes still had my heart pounding. I can't wait to dive back in the rest of the series as I've missed Callie and Des more than I realised!
Wish list:
I can't decide what I think of Temper - it would have been nice to see more of her - where she isn't constantly calling Callie 'B****'
I only say this for this installment (as I have previously read the whole series)
As much as I love Callie and Des, they were a little two dimensional. There doesn't feel like there is enough depth with their characters, or any of the other side characters for that matter.
Favourite quotes:
“And mountains may rise and fall, and the sun might wither away, and the sea claim the land and swallow the sky. But you will always be mine.” He runs his knuckles over my cheekbone. “And the stars might fall from the heavens, and night might cloak the earth, but until darkness dies, I will always be yours.”
“Cherub, people like us are not victims. We’re someone’s nightmare.”
“Teach me again how to be someone’s nightmare.”
Would I recommend?
Yes, I love this series! There are potentially triggering scenes but they are handled very well. This story hooks you in and sets you up for the rest of the series, which in my opinion gets better and better.

My friend has been recommending this to me and pushing me to read it for the longest time and I'm so happy I finally picked it up! I loved the characters in this, the plot was super interesting and I loved the world this book is set in. It was so different from other Fae books I've read which is always refreshing. In saying that, this also gave me major ACOTAR vibes so if you're a fan, this is a must read as well!!!
I have found a new obsessed in Desmond Flynn. He's so incredibly sweet while simultaneously radiating sexual tension and being amazingly hot! I really enjoyed his backstory with Callie and OMG the twists in their story had me in a chokehold! Callie was such a badass, brave and amazing female main character and I loved seeing her kick major ass and standing up for herself.
Overall such a good read and I really recommend it!

This book drew me in with a gorgeous fae, a sexy siren and a blossoming romance. I really enjoyed how it went from present day to flashbacks which helped to give us a clearer understanding of the two MC's motives and feelings as well as showing us the history they have together. The tension between Callie and Desmond was fantastic - a will-they-won't-they and a when-will-they type situation. And it didn't disappoint when they finally collided - especially the spice.
The reason I didn't give this five stars is due to the ending. It just didn't wow me. I know it's one of three books and I will continue with them and that might change my mind. I also noticed quite a number of spelling and grammar mistakes for an edited completed book.
*
I'm looking forward to seeing how Callie and Desmond move forward in book two.
*
Pros:
> Character building
> Relationship development through flashbacks
> Tension and spice
*
Cons:
> A number of spelling and grammar mistakes for a finished product
> The ending just didn't feel right
*
Memorable Quotes:
> I’m woman enough to admit that right about now I’m a little scared of Des.
> “I will always come for you.”
> “You’re not going to stop living your life because some days are harder than others.”
> “I’m afraid that if I do anything, you’ll stop. I don’t want you to stop.”
> “I love you. I’ve loved you from the beginning. And I will love you long after the last star dies. I will love you until the end of darkness itself.”
> “I want to marry the shit out of you, and then I want to have lots and lots of babies with you.”
